What is the brand of hearing aids you got ?

EZMONEY 08-17-2011 10:35 AM

Well my pup made it through her surgery, meniscus was ok but a torn acl as expected. She does not like the cone over her head one bit! I took it off her to sleep but slept in my recliner right next to her. I think her sister is taking it worse...'lil Miss Nervous!

Gonna be a long haul to recovery!

bargoo 08-17-2011 11:49 AM

I am getting ready to move so am trying to use up things I have in my pantry or freezer so I don't have to move them. I am making Navy Bean and Ham soup right now. Later in the week I will be making cakes ,two for the senior center and one for a work day at church.

Ruthxxx 08-17-2011 12:07 PM

My four are sending speedy recovery vibes to your furry baby, Gary.

Bargoo, they are AGIL and I'm very pleased. I tried them out at lunch yesterday and could follow all the conversations without their turning into an auditory mish-mash. I can also answer my cell in the car which is a plus now that we are not allowed to talk on cells in a moving vehicle. I'm still discovering new sounds today - some good and some bad. The electric toothbrush is really noisy! Who knew?

I am doing a use it up exercise too these days. Right now I'm drying eggplant and have tomatoes ready to be made into sauce or salsa.

EZMONEY 08-18-2011 08:37 PM

Angie had to take reba back to the vet today as some of her bandage moved to show staples...all ok now except for the damn cone she hates...and me too!

hate-hate it when Angie applies mine when beach walking in the summer....

love navy bean soup! I make an awesome one...Pillsbury recipe!!...so good-so good!

Between work at my daughters condo and church pre-school I am finally able to start earning my way to heaven....jk....of course.....

This soup is awesome, if you like this style. I actually use great northern beans and I add ham chunks along with the shank and also way more instant potato flakes to make it thick!

bargoo 08-18-2011 09:43 PM

It sounds good, mine is similar except no potato flakes or nutmeg, and it is better the second day.

EZMONEY 08-18-2011 10:02 PM

I cut the nutmeg in half.

Ruthxxx 08-19-2011 06:35 AM

Sheesh! I have all the ingredients including a frozen ham shank. Now I need some fall weather. It's comfort food and I need some since my very sore leg has just been diagnosed as broken - after nearly three weeks of gimping around and being a crabby old lady, I went to the doc and then for an x-ray! Duh!

bargoo 08-19-2011 07:57 AM

Ruth, sorry about your leg. Navy Bean soup is so easy to make and smells so good while it is cooking on the stove and tastes good in any weather.

EZMONEY 08-19-2011 09:03 AM

:getwell: Oh my Ruth! How did that happen?

The navy bean soup recipe is my favorite one, a few twists with the nutmeg....but as I mentioned I cut it in half. I add a lot more potato flakes too...at least 3 cups, maybe more, making it pretty thick. I start with 2 cups and then just keep adding until I get it right for me. I also usually add more carrots, celery and onion too.

Work at the pre-school today but not until later :)

Nice to watch my wife go off to work for her first day of school...on a Friday?...are you serious...one day back then a week-end off?....teachers have it made ;)

Ruthxxx 08-20-2011 07:01 AM

It was a stupid accident, Gary. (Are there any smart accidents?) I took out a floor vent to clean it, forgot it was out and stepped into the hole. Luckily my foot didn't go through the metal or I'd be crabbing about a cut ankle too. I was "lucky".

What are you doing at the pre-school?

EZMONEY 08-20-2011 08:31 AM

SHHHHHH!

I have friends visiting from Kansas....they are sleeper inners....doesn't everyone get up by 5am?

Paper read...trying to keep dogs quiet is hardest....

RUTH, I was doing some drywall patching on our church pre-school...

got out of repainting it with the men's group since friends here...whew!!

bargoo 08-20-2011 06:52 PM

I already had a cake in the oven baking by 5AM. It is now frosted and waiting for me to take to church for a work day after church.

Ruthxxx 08-21-2011 06:30 AM

Good morning. I am about to make a run to the bank with the loot from last night's fund-raising dinner at the Mill. I am so grateful for night depositories because I have way too much cash on my kitchen table.

Today's the day I test ten dogs for our pet therapy group. That's usually a fun time. Church first though - and that's usually a fun time too!

bargoo 08-21-2011 08:41 AM

That sonds like a wonderful organization. I will be going to church too, we can wear grubbies today as we are having a work day around the church. We will have a potluck lunch first. I made a carrot cake. I origionally planned on bringing a salad but I am trying to use things that I have on hand.

EZMONEY 08-21-2011 01:13 PM

Said good-bye to guests from Kansas ....

Worshipped at church....

Prayed for family of high school friend who passed last night...damn cancer

Gonna watch some NASCAR and LITTLE LEAGUE today....

Stepping Out 08-21-2011 05:47 PM

Went to church this a.m. Had another minor crisis w/the car..could be the transmission (we've already spent $2700 in the last month )

Gary: Sorry about your friend. How's Reba doing?

Ruth: Hope your leg heals soon! Do you have a walking boot or a cast?

Ruthxxx 08-21-2011 06:25 PM

No walking boot or cast - I do have a support stocking ... and Scotch and determination!

Stepping Out 08-21-2011 07:23 PM

Better go easy on the scotch! ;) :D

EZMONEY 08-21-2011 08:15 PM

Glad you an honest reason to drink RUTH....

Angie doesn't buy into my reasons....I was hot/thirsty/cold/soda has sugar/water gives me gas.....

Jo....Reba is doing much better but she sure hates this cone of shame around her neck. Right now the hardest thing is keeping her from trying to get upstairs when we are up there.

EZMONEY 08-22-2011 10:30 PM

burp

Ruthxxx 08-24-2011 07:40 AM

Burp or bump? Burp works though.

I'm feeling so good that August is winding down and I keep losing Mill staff as the students migrate to their real lives. Only five for payroll this week.

EZMONEY 08-24-2011 08:37 AM

belch

Ruthxxx 08-24-2011 12:10 PM

:yay: Just got the news that I now have a $49.5K grant for the Mill. My hard work and brown-nosing paid off. That will cover the Curator's salary for the next years or so and will reduce my stress level a lot!

Stepping Out 08-24-2011 02:47 PM

Congratulations Ruth!! :carrot: :carrot::cheer2::cheer3: :yay:

bargoo 08-24-2011 09:36 PM

Congratulations !

EZMONEY 08-25-2011 08:56 AM

Awesome RUTH!!

Have the day off...going to do some more work at our church school.....going to replace some corner protectors I put on a while ago... the kids knocked 3 out of 4 of them off riding their bicycles down the halls!

Then going to go see that GRANDdaughter of mine, being babysat by my sister.

bargoo 08-25-2011 09:58 AM

No day off for , me, still sorting, discarding, reclaiming and discarding again.

Ruthxxx 08-26-2011 07:20 AM

I'm going to have a day like yours, Bargoo. My clothes are out of hand!

EZMONEY 08-26-2011 08:25 AM

Gonna be hot at work today, wish I didn't have to wear clothes....

unless IRENE has something to say about it

Karen31 08-27-2011 04:25 PM

I just got this in an email from a stationery site that I like-- I thought that this was interesting and you could actually have your medical info. on this and in case of an accident everything would be right there. Just thought that I would share it.

Ruthxxx 08-28-2011 08:00 AM

Irene is messing with my life a bit. We are already getting high winds and I'm just waiting for the power to go out. We are going to get the western edge of this wicked witch as she crosses Eastern Ontario.
