I just heard a description of the history of Mother's Day - It's Mother's not Mothers' in order to emphasize that we are each to honor our own mother, not all those Mothers who started the celebration after Julia Ward Howe proclaimed Mother's Day in 1870 in protest to the carnage of the American Civil War.
