ChaLEAN Extreme Support and Progress

I was about to post in the old one when I saw it was closed!

I'm lovin' how sore I am today! I'm finding my shoulders are really weak and I'm having trouble even being able to fully lift on the shoulder lift thingies but even at the end of the 12 reps I'm not at failure. Is it because I'm using waaay to heavy weight? I really don't know...lol:?:

Taoofck25 12-01-2009 08:04 PM

so is this the continuation from the floprieto post?? I hope so! Anyways, EVELHAELF - you're not failing because you're not using heavy enough weights! even if you think you're weak, shoulders are really strong. If you're not failing, you're either not getting enough resistance, or you may not be doing the exercise precisely. Try going up 2-3 lbs the next time you do the same exercise and see if you reach failure then! good luck!

EveLHaelf 12-01-2009 08:44 PM

Yeah, this is the continuation. I hope everyone else jumps in!

Thanks for the advice, taoof I will be reviewing proper form on that exercise and I will try upping my weight! Those pushups are killing me! lol!

EveLHaelf 12-02-2009 07:11 AM

I just finished burn circuit 2 and WOW! I feel great!

I have a question about tomorrow's workout. On my calendar in the book, it says 'burn intervals and ab burner.' What are burn intervals? I see that extreme abs is a dvd but i didn't see anythig that said 'burn intervals.'

Anyone? I'm confused, lol.

Fat Pants 12-02-2009 09:50 AM

Thanks for starting the new thread!!

Burn intervals should also be on one of the DVDs, Eve - can't remember which one off the top of my head, though. I tried it, but it really didn't do much for me, so I replaced it with HIIT intervals at the gym or another run day, depending on how fresh my legs feel. It's probably worth a try it if you're not used to interval training, though! You might like it.

Re started the Push phase yesterday... WOW I forgot how much this sucks. I am failing by the 6th rep on most of them. My favorite exercise (beside push ups!) are the squats with the weights. I am really starting to see some muscle development in my hamstrings!!!

bossybritches 12-02-2009 09:54 AM

On my dvd's, Burn Intervals were on the same disc as Ab Burner & Extreme Abs. Get ready, they're kick-butt 2 minute drills. On the flip side, they're over quickly!

Skyra 12-02-2009 01:39 PM

Hey, I'm here from the other thread. Eve, thanks for starting this.

I haven't done Chalean Extreme in a whole week! :O Thanksgiving really derailed me -- my family sneers at exercise so I didn't feel comfortable doing any workouts while at home. (I watched my eating, though!)

Anyway, I'm afraid to pick up Chalean again because I'm afraid I will have gotten weaker from the week off and that it'll make me feel bad. Could somebody kick my butt into gear? I know if I stop doing it altogether all my results will go right out the window.... which would be bad....

bossybritches 12-02-2009 02:31 PM

Skyra - you MUST continue. Your weight loss goals are soooo attainable! Next time, let the family sneer and tell them they can sneer again when you've completed Chalean and have a rockin' body to show for it. If you're afraid you'll be weaker for missing a week, then just repeat the last week you were on. I doubt you'll be weaker though. What part of the program are you on?

bossybritches 12-02-2009 02:37 PM

Soooo...... just finish circuit 2 of the PUSH phase. Very intense as I went really heavy and was barely able to eeek out my 8th rep. I believe I've sweated the most on this workout so far. Everything's shaking (if you only knew how many typos I've had to correct ;-) LUV IT!!!!!

EveLHaelf 12-02-2009 04:42 PM

I found it! Thanks gals. ;) I loooove how absolutely tired my arms get after doing these dvds!

Skyra 12-02-2009 05:45 PM

Bossy -- thanks for the support! Good point about letting the family sneer ... it'll be worth it when I'm done! I wish I had thought of it that way before Thanksgiving started. Anyway... I had just finished the first week of Lean when I stopped exercising. I'm not sure whether to start Lean over or just call it week 2 and pick up exactly where I left off. Maybe it doesn't really matter?

ETA: OK, guys, I got off my butt and picked up where I left off at Lean Circuit 2. I'm feeling discouraged though because, after a week of not exercising, I feel much more off-balance and weights felt heavier than they should. (For example, 10 lb. lateral raises were tough but doable for me, but today 10 lbs. made me feel like my form was off from the start.) Sad. I know I just need to get back into the program and I'll regain the strength quickly... good reminder though that if I stop doing the exercises, I won't be as strong anymore.

Institches21 12-03-2009 01:03 AM

Just wanted to pop in and say Hi, hope everyone is having a great week.

On my third week of Push, and I find those pushups are getting a tiny bit easier, might be able to do more on my toes very soon. I will say my favorite program is recharge, I just love those stretches, it feels so wonderful after a week of heavy weights and intense cardio, to just stretch those sore muscles.

will chat again soon-take care

Cluciano 12-03-2009 10:45 PM

Hello girls ...........just finally did Lean 1 this am and i felt awfully weak. getting yet another sinus infection i think that may have been the problem. got dizzy a few times also! i do the work out at 5am 1st thing all weak and half of sleep BOOOOOO but its the only time i have w/out interruptions (kids/hubby/house/work) You know the norm!
really need to get back on track!

Skyra 12-04-2009 01:12 AM

Cluciano -- glad to have you back! For the record I think the Lean circuit is just really tough... I felt really weak when I first started it too. It gets better, though. Good for you for getting up early to exercise, that shows a LOT of dedication and will power :)

bablou00 12-05-2009 01:20 AM

Im still in the burn phase doing a motified two extra wks because of traveling and I dont want to mess up my Push phase. I plan to start Push the wk after next and Im so excited for a change. These videos really keep me motivated. Today I was doing Burn circuit 2 and I wanted to stop so bad cause I was still tired from work but Chalean pulled me thru it. I looking forward to push...did anyone lose any weight from the push phase. My goal is to get down 5lbs during that phase but I havent really seen anyone get any wt loss results!!!

Cluciano 12-06-2009 08:26 PM

Hello girls! how was the weekend pretty bad for me sick sick and eating not so clean ............well back on track monday morning hopefully my sinus will let me get a good workout in ...............

bossybritches 12-07-2009 09:25 AM

Bablou - I'm one week into the Push Phase but I do know I've learned to quit looking at the scale. Since muscle weighs more than fat (and you are building muscle) the scales will disappoint you. I've learned to judge by inches lost and by getting into smaller clothes.

When I started trying to lose weight, I started with Turbo Jam. It worked great, but I loved the Turbo Sculpt portion so much that I started incorporating it into my workout three times a week. Upon doing that, I actually gained weight but lost inches. I noticed the same effect whenever I went from 5 to 8lb weights during the Turbo Sculpt and when I went from 1.5 to 3lb gloved during the Turbo Jam cardio workouts.

Best of luck to ya!

Skyra 12-07-2009 08:00 PM

Urk... I am so tired of the cardio, guys! Still loving the weight-lifting days but it's getting harder and harder for me to motivate myself to do intervals or anything else. I have the 7th DVD, so that helps mix it up a bit, but in general I don't enjoy cardio that much, so... struggle.

I think part of it is feeling like I'm there to burn off calories rather than to get stronger. Burning off calories seems kind of futile when you can eat a half-hour's worth of burned calories in two minutes. Building the muscle, though -- that I like. It feels more useful, more healthy in the long run.

Sorry, guys, I'm feeling a little off tonight. I hope you're all continuing with your workouts.

Institches21 12-08-2009 12:12 PM

Skyra- Big Hugs your way!! We all get into that rut, sounds like you need to mix it up a bit, don't get discouraged, maybe you need a differant form of cardio for a bit.

?????
To me, not sure, but I always thought a pound of fat and muscle weighed the same?? That muscle and fat look differant, since muscle takes up less space and that your muscles are retaining fluid {water} to help repair them so they get stronger, so that's the temp. weight gain??

Well just finished up Push Phase, I Love this program, I've never been this successful with any other exercise program, Love Turbo Jam, but the weight lifting is my key, it has helped me so much.

have a great day-need to get to work!!

Skyra 12-08-2009 11:54 PM

Today I did Lean Circuit 1 for the third time. I am definitely getting stronger ... my biceps are SCREAMING still but in such a good way!!

I'm a little irritated that I haven't had a "huge body transformation" in (almost) 90 days, like the infomercials say, but my diet hasn't been super-strict either so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Good news though -- today I lifted my arms and flexed them and DANG am I impressed. There's still some fat over my arms, but my shoulders look really chiseled which makes me really excited. :D

Question -- normally after I have dinner (5-6 pm) I'm not hungry for the rest of the day... is it OK not to eat or will not eating from 6 pm-midnight slow down my metabolism and/or make it harder to gain muscle? Chalene says to eat every 2.5-3 hours, but it seems silly to do so when I don't feel hungry at all. (FYI I usually exercise after dinner... and often I don't eat anything after the workouts. Is that bad? Eating right after a workout feels counterproductive to me.)

giddybridetobe 12-09-2009 01:20 PM

Hey everyone! I just ordered the Chalean extreme set yesterday and just waiting for them to come in so I can get started. I saw this site and thought it would be a good place to help stay motivated.
I already have her Turbo Jam videos that I love so I thought this would be a good addition to them. I am still using her TJ videos along with my elliptical and some weight training but I felt I need a little more help in the weight training so I thought this would be perfect for me. I plan on using both my TJ and the extreme videos together to get my butt in shape before my wedding in May as I have read in many post that there does not seem to be enough cardio.
I'm excited for my videos to get here and to get started!

HI Institches21 .........how are you?
I was wondering what kind of results have you gotten thus far?
I am 1st week of Push Phase Love this Phase. I started back up i did the 3 months ........went off and was going to start at Lean (not a good idea) Lean its pretty intense!
Let me know your status looks like we have similar goals!
:dizzy:

Institches21 12-10-2009 02:30 AM

Hi Cluciano-
I'm great thanks for asking! I've noticed the best results have been the last 30 days, Burn was a great intro into WL, I was a bit afraid of lifting, that I would bulk up, but I'm very happy to say, did not, just getting stronger and I have abs, I still have belly fat, but those abs are there, it's pretty exciting.

okay my stats are
Burn-lost 8lbs and total of 10inches
Push-lost 10lbs and will measure on Saturday {edit} Total inches lost for this Phase-21.5

How's it going for you-Cluciano?

Welcome-GiddyBrideToBe-you will love this program, and I think once you learn the routine, you can up the intensity of the Cardio portion of the program. On the Rest Days I do another TJ tape, mostly Cardio Party 1,2 or 3
Good Luck and let us know how it's going for you.

Skyra-Yay!! on those sexy arms!! I still have those bat wings, but it's funny my shoulders and upper arms are much leaner...I also feel stronger, just today I did those sumo-squats holding 25lbs, back when I started 10lbs. It's amazing to see the progress, in just 60 days. you keep up the great work, you will see a swoosh in no time...and those pounds will be melting off.

Well I start Lean Phase on Saturday, tomorrow is my fav-Recharge and Abs, then Friday will do Cardio Party 3. Well need to get to bed, have a great Thursday everyone

Skyra 12-13-2009 04:57 PM

Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well and continuing your workouts!! :cheer2:

I'm finishing up the third week of Lean and let me tell you, I feel AMAZING!! This is my 7th day really on plan food-wise, and I feel like a million bucks. I have noticed a HUGE improvement in how much weight I can lift in the last two weeks, too. I'm so excited. :dizzy:

Institches21 12-16-2009 12:42 AM

Skyra- Wahooo!! so happy for you, that Lean Phase is Hard, Challenging, and a Sweat Fest!, but it's fun to see how heavy you can lift, couple of times had to rewind the DVD since I was lifting too light!!

Hope everyone is doing well, hope you are also enjoying your CLX!~

Skyra 12-17-2009 12:28 AM

Good to hear from you Institches -- glad to know you're still working out. :D I'm about 1 week away from my results-tracking day, and then I'm gonna start the cycle over. I sure hope the tracking goes well! I feel nervous about it already. :dizzy:

PS -- I did Cardio Party 3 yesterday on my "rest day" -- I hadn't done that video for maybe 6 months, and I was amazed at how much easier it was this time around! I used to get out of breath and have to almost stop completely halfway, but now I got through it just fine and was moving a lot more. Whee!

Institches21 12-17-2009 01:03 AM

Skyra- it's totally amazing how fast you can recover from an intense workout, so happy to hear you are doing so well. I will say, Lean day 3 kicked my butt, my shoulders are still sore from this morning, those pushups/planks are killers.

Love your quote at the bottom, of your post- it's very true. Pure and Simple!

giddybridetobe 12-17-2009 09:12 AM

So I took all my measurements last night and started Burn 1. I do not think I have ever sweat so much from lifting weights! I think there was one exercise where I could have lifted a little heavier, but I tracked what I did so I could make adjustments.
This morning I woke up and I am not really that sore. I think my legs are more sore than anything else....I'm not sure if it's because I was not lifting heavy enough, or because I had been lifting weights before I started this program. Anyways I like it so far! I hope I see some results after the first 30 days are up!

Update: Okay...I guess I spoke too soon. As the day goes on I am finding myself getting more sore. LOL

sci 12-17-2009 02:42 PM

Wow, my gym friend does this and she looks fab.

RRB2 12-17-2009 04:16 PM

Hello ladies,
I did 7 weeks of Chalean Xtreme few month ago, but had to stop b/c of international move, etc.
I just restarted 2 weeks ago, just finished 2nd round of Burn 3.
Hoping to complete the program this time.
Just wanted to say hello ~wave~

Institches21 12-18-2009 12:44 AM

RRB2  and welcome back

giddybridetobe-looks like you are off to a great start-enjoy!!

sci-yes this is one of the best programs that I've ever done, don't get me wrong, Love TurboJam, but weight lifting heavy is the key, I have found on my rest days, I do Cardio Party 1,2 or 3, and I up the intensity, found that also gives me a great sweaty time also. sci, are you thinking of starting this program, or just visiting? Either way hope you stop by often.

Quick question-I'm on the 1st week of Lean, and after completing 4wks on both the Burn and Push, without having any major pains or hurts, all of a sudden, my left leg, upper thigh is cramping up so bad, wakes me from a sound sleep, I do all the proper warm up/cool down, even spent a bit of extra time with those runner lunges on my left side. All day today I can feel the muscle in my upper thigh is so tight, I hope that pain doesn't come back, that was aweful, I can remember when I started power walking, at my higher weight, I would get the same muscle spasms, now that I'm lighter and alot more fit, I thought those spasms were over. One other thing, I also have really bad spider veins. I do not want to give up CLX, it's something that I really do love and look forward to doing everyday. I plan to make a dr appt, after Christmas/New Year, but I was wondering if anyone had this problem, or might have some advice. Thanks-so glad it's Finally Friday-Have a great one everyone

EveLHaelf 12-18-2009 01:52 PM

Hi everyone! I just finished my third week of the burn phase! I am loving how strong I feel after each workout. I'm wondering if anyone else does the 'burn intervals' and other cardio dvds more often than the book says to? I've started thinking like a body builder, and I'm so excited to take my first 30 day progress pics! I might even post them here, if i don't get too embarrassed! lol :o

I really miss turbo jam! I had a good run with it, but had to stop because all those knee lifts injured my right hip somehow. I was doing cardio party 3 (my fave next to fat blaster) and during the cross cross knee part i could hear and feel a popping noise in my hip when I would lift lower my right knee. And being the stubborn person I am I continued until it became excruciating. My hip hurt for weeks afterwards! Then it finally started feeling normal and stupid me did cardio party 3 again this time I did as little knee lifts as possible and here I am again with a hurt hip. Unfortunately, I've decided that's it for me. No more TJ :( My stupid hip even aches when I try to run and I can't be having that, I'm training for a half marathon in June. So I will just do what I did last time and take lots of ibuprofen and ice it regularly.

I'm just glad I can still get my Chalene fix from CLX! ;)

giddybridetobe 12-21-2009 09:02 AM

So I just finnished my first week of the program and turbo jam (Which I love) has nothing on CLX. I feel I get a better work out with this program so far than any others that I have tried. Instead of taking two days off I am doing an extra day of cardio with turbo jam....that is a nice break compared to CLX. :) I'm just excited to get to day 30 to see what kind of results I am going to have.

bossybritches 12-21-2009 12:13 PM

I have a question for all those that are in the Lean phase or have completed the Lean phase. Did you lift any heavier than you did in the push phase or about the same?

I have adjustable 25lb weights that I've maxed out on several of the Push exercises, particularly lower body ones. I begin my last week of Push today.

Skyra 12-21-2009 01:38 PM

bossybritches -- I lift a lot LIGHTER during the Lean phase than the Push phase, and so does Chalene. You're still lifting during Lean, but you're doing movements WHILE you lift, so the muscles are working a lot harder. (For example, doing a tricep extension while in a plank position... or bicep curls while standing on one leg ... SO HARD!!)

For most of the exercises all through Lean, Chalene & co. are lifting only 10-15 pounds. I lifted even lighter because I'm not as strong as them (yet, anyway). Don't worry, it's still a great workout -- I was astounded by how quickly my muscles tired out while using what I had started to think of as light weights! So anyway, I really don't think you'll need heavier weights until maybe when you do Push the next time around.

devadiva 12-23-2009 04:23 PM

Hi
I have not posted in awhile I just bought CHALEAN EXTERME and am getting ready to start soon....I am in my THIRD round {midway} of DOUBLES of p90x
I am planning on figuring out some sort of DOUBLES program with CHALEAN I am somewhat addicted to Cardio Kickboxing in addition to the p90x program and have gained so much MUSCLE I am a little paronoid to try this new program ....TELL ME ITS GREAT.....PLEASE!!!!!

bablou00 12-25-2009 01:36 AM

^^^Well this program is geared towards gaining lean muscle mass. I dont think youll gain much more then what you already have from doing p90x twice but u will probably lean out more with Chalean. If you are worried just tone it down during the 2nd phase (Push) and u should be alright. I have toned up my body and lost inches and weight with this program. People say that during the Push phase you dont really lose much or stay the same but Im playin with almost a 2lb loss and this is only my second week:carrot::carrot: You are my height and weigh 128 thats great!!! Ive never been that weight due to muscle but I would like to see 129 once in my life....I just know it would take a lot for me to get there.

I have a love/hate relationship with Push phase. As I see that my body is changing from the increase in weight...the increase in weight is killing me softly...lol!!! Im lifting right along with Chalean and even a Lb heavier here and there. I love that this phase is pushing me but its tough:D

Skyra 12-27-2009 04:50 AM

Guh... all this sugar over Xmas is screwing me up! Tried to do Burn Intervals today (at the same intensity as usual) and felt very dizzy -- normally this never happens unless I eat too much junk food -- as soon as I get out of my parents' house I'm going back to lots of fruits & vegetables! Can't wait! I am FINALLY starting to believe Chalene when she says "You are an athlete", and now that I'm starting to reach something resembling "athlete" status, I don't want to throw it out the window.

hope you're all doing well...

Do you think of yourself as an athlete?

Institches21 12-28-2009 02:15 PM

I agree all that sugar and fat, recks havoc with your body, trying to stay away from the junk, I really do feel better when I eat healthy. I just need to remember that when I go into the kitchen!!

I've continued with my exercise, in fact I think it is helping me to stay away from the junk as much. I'm also trying to not only think like an athlete, but trying my hardest to eat like one. I know this Christmas was ALOT better, eating wise than last year. This year my stomach doesn't want all that heavy stuff, makes me feel like a lead brick is in there, just need to remember that feeling, BEFORE I eat something naughty!

Hope everyone has a Safe and Very Happy New Year, and is doing well.

bablou00 12-29-2009 03:04 AM

Go Chalean Go Chalean....Im praising this woman. I knew that I would get bored with this program and it still on a daily kicks my butt. I am half way thru the program. This is my second to last wk of Push then on to Lean and my body feels so great. I can see and feel the changes. Im trying so hard to encourage my friends and family to get on board but since I live away from home and they havent seen my results yet they're just like blah!!!
I praise running to help me lose weight but my body has tighten up so much with weight lifting and Im not getting the bulkness that I always fear. And I am one to advocate that not all women get bulky but if I was just weight train daily by isolating muscle groups I do (done it in the past, just my body type). However with this program Im not getting those results. Im getting the same results I did when I did boot camp a few years back and lost a lot of body fat and was the smallest ever. I LOVE CHALEAN EXTREME
Sorry I had to go on my soap box and praise the women but if you stick with it you will see some great results. I cant wait to get home to show off my hot bod when Im done with this program...haha!!!
