Chub, good idea to get some exercising in between meals. That steak sounds good. I love meat, but I don't think it loves me anymore.

I was determined not to pig out just because food was there and ruin the progress I made this week. I baked an apple pie with 1/4 the sugar and brown sugar and it came out pretty good IMO, still sweet but with that strong green apple taste. I also bought a Hershey pie that I found to be too sweet but a better option for people used to higher sugar amounts. I used to love those Hershey pies, but I couldn't even finish my slice. The dinner was more like lunch. I ate what I wanted but I kept some of my portions small. That evening I decided against more beef and turkey and had an egg with more veg on the side and still small amounts of the starchy stuff. This morning I'm down to 144.6, about 1/2 a lb less than yesterday. I was trying to avoid a big gain and somehow managed a loss. I'll enjoy this while it lasts.

chub 12-03-2016 12:20 PM

Circa: Great job on the weight loss. It's definitely not an easy feat, especially during the holiday season.

I've been out sick for a while but am slowly getting better. I've continued to exercise most days but the intensity is definitely not where it should be. But I told myself that as long as I did something that involves NOT sitting around, then I'm good  Finals are approaching which means I'm going to be sitting around for an extended period of time. I'll try to just maintain my weight until it's over.
That's it for now. I'll be back to update later.
I was looking at myfitnesspal history and saw that I was 131 at the beginning of this year :o It was crazy how the weight crept up on me but It gave me an extra boost of motivation to get back to where I was.

Hi All,
I am just joining this thread and hoping it hasn't fizzled out. This time of year is super hard! I was hoping to get to a normal BMI and just eeked it out. 148.7 today. Happy to be here. I won't talk about the cupcakes I am baking for a Christmas/New Year's tonight with a very fun brother and his family. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Happy new year to you all! I look forward to hearing more about you.

chub 02-02-2017 02:05 PM

I'm back!! It's been so quiet in this thread but I'm so close to crossing to the 130s (hovering at 143-144lb currently) that I feel i need to post to keep myself accountable. School has been busy so i haven't been too active but my diet has been pretty good as far as healthy portion control goes. Hoping to be in the 130s by Valentine's Day!

Nightowlrn 02-04-2017 01:25 PM

Hello. I felt confident enough in the 140s (148-149) to move myself to this group today. I have been reading about everyone's accomplishments. So inspiring! I am excited to learn from everyone here.

Hi Nightowlrn,

Thanks for telling me about this thread. I didn't realize there were two 140's threads. You and I are close in weight. I hope to lose about 4 lb per month, but even when I drop to the lower 140's my clothes will fit better and I won't look as bloated. I'm partcipating in the 21 day challenge where I have to eat within my weight loss calories for 21 days. It's starting to move the scale downward! :)

Good Morning!

I had a big woosh today and weighed in at 146.4! :cb: Hopefully it will stick, as I'm working hard at getting below 145.

Sperrigo - congrats on the woosh! Wonderful! It seems like you should hit your goal on your time table. You are so smart to have recognized you wanted to lose weight before things got to a critical point. What is your plan?

I am happy to report I haven't gained in a few weeks despite traveling and eating out 5 nights a week! Yikes. So, minor victory and I am still a proud, card-carrying 140's member.

re - 2 140's threads. I think I will stick to this one. It seems odd to be whining about being 140-something in the same area with those struggling to lose so much more. I was there less than a year ago and know how difficult and insurmountable it can seem looking at 60+. The introduction to this forum discusses those needing to lose 10-15, which is about where I am in this journey to get my body back to a comfortable and healthy state of being.

Perhaps we could make a bridge to cross over ceremony - like in the girl scouts! hahaha.

Sperrigo 02-07-2017 05:51 PM

Nightowlrn When I reached 150, I refused to buy bigger clothes! I bought long sweaters to cover my tight jeans! I knew I would find a forum to help me get down to my normal weight (lower 130's). I did get to the lower 140's with Beach Body, but they want you to buy their meal replacement and it was pricey...plus I got tired of drinking it. When I quit BB, I started gaining weight again. My weight is starting to drop with 3FC, so I know I'm where I'm supposed to be. Good job not gaining while traveling...that is not easy! I usually start gaining when I reach the airport. :dizzy: What plan are you on?

I, too, feel more comfortable posting in the 140's thread. I am much freer to say what I'm going through, which might be different for another weight group. I am a calorie counter. I was on Weight Watchers years ago and I learned portion control and food groups, but I translated everything into calories so that I have control over what is going to make me gain or lose weight.

I've had a bad cold for a few days, but today I started exercising again. I like all the free exercise videos on YouTube. I am working through Blogilates' workout calendar which compiles 5 or so of her short videos into each day (about 45 mins total). Each day will focus on something different...today was legs. Some exercises like squats and lunges come easy for me, but she is more flexible and so her leg lifts are hard for me. I keep at it...it will get easier if I keep at it.

I woke up to a new low, 146.6, which gets me closer to my goal of 140 by the end of March 2017. Happy Weekend everyone!

LionessWhispers 03-13-2017 08:02 AM

Hi there
I'm back again after having some weight creep back up on me. I've been working to get back on track and I've managed to get back down to ~142. Hoping to get back into my exercise routine for good this time. Anyone still hanging around here?

LionessWhispers 03-25-2017 09:40 AM

Well it looks like I'm outta here again -- hopefully this time for good! 130s here I come! :cheer2:

:goodluck: to everyone working their way down!!

Princessroja 05-16-2017 10:19 AM

Well, after bouncing around the 150 line for almost a week, the scale read 149.2 this morning, so 140s thread, here I come!! :D

EagleRiverDee 05-22-2017 02:13 PM

Hi Princessroja- I'm here with ya now! 4 lbs from my mini-goal of 145. I'm motivated!

Marie3 05-26-2017 01:19 PM

Hi everyone! I'm in here with you guys... started at 147.4 a few weeks ago and am currently at 145.8! My first mini goal is 144.4. Can't wait to hit that and then get out of the 140s! My goal weight is back to 137, the weight when I got married. Ultimate goal weight is 133 but it's been years since I've been even out of the 140s, so I'll be excited to get there.

Princessroja 05-26-2017 01:29 PM

Welcome Marie3! Nice to see the 140s thread getting so populated suddenly!

chub 05-27-2017 08:08 PM

Congrats on making it to the 140s princessroja :)
Welcome Marie :)

Hey guys, I'm back and weighing in at 142.6 this morning. I ordered a dress 1 size smaller for an event I have in 54 days so I had better get to it
I'll be weighing in every few days to keep myself accountable and to keep you guys updated :D

SW: 142.6
GW: 125

5/27: 142.6

EagleRiverDee 05-28-2017 04:10 PM

Hi Marie and congrats on your efforts. I love your goal- 144.4! So specific! :)

I'm transitioning my workouts, at least for a while, to less cardio and more resistance/yoga/pilates to give my knees a break. And it'll probably be good for my body to shake things up a little on my workouts. :) I've seen a serious slowdown in weight loss and I think maybe my body has adapted to what I do, so something new will be good.

chub 05-30-2017 11:10 PM

Dee: have you considered swimming? I hear that it's really gentle on your joints. I can't personally speak for it due to my limited experience with swimming but the few times I tried it, it was definitely a very tough cardiovascular exercise for me.

I definitely enjoyed my long weekend as I'm up a few pounds for the past couple days. I did climb on the stationary bike at home for a short exercise just to get the ball rolling again.

SW: 142.6
GW: 125

5/27: 142.6
5/30: 147.6

EagleRiverDee 05-31-2017 02:36 PM

Chub- I LOVE swimming. But I live in Alaska and so they only pools are indoor, heavily chlorinated, and I find the chlorine irritates my skin. I wish we had a saltwater pool near me. The next time I go somewhere warm I will definitely get some swimming in, though! :)

Good job on jumping back on your exercise!

Marie3 06-01-2017 05:40 PM

Thanks princess Roja, chub, and eagle river dee for the welcome! :)

Dee I think mixing up your workouts is a great idea, nice for your knees and also to shake things up a bit!

I have had some really stressful days at work, and I didn't stick to my calories well. I was down to 144.8 on Monday morning and now am back up to 146.4 as of this morning. It's always crazy to me how hard it is too lose and then how easy it is to gain... we'll see if that higher number sticks or if (hopefully!!) some of it is just water weight. I'm feeling kinda like I should just give up and continue with my bad eating like the last two days, but I know that while in the short term that sounds good, in the long term it will make me unhappy. I just gotta find motivation to pick myself up and not beat myself up too much about it.

I also talked to my sister in law about trying to lose weight and I found out that her highest weight she's ever been (besides when pregnant) is 132. And that is basically the lowest I've ever been in my adult life, which kinda bummed me out. I know that I shouldn't compare, and logically I know part of it is her genetics, but it's weird to think her high weight is my ultimate goal weight, and sometimes it feels like I'll never get there.

Anyway sorry for the bit of a downer post, hope you all are having a good week so far and excited for the weekend :)

chub 06-02-2017 11:37 AM

Dee: I enjoy the swimming part but dislike everything else around swimming. I find that i spend more time getting in and out of the bathing suit and drying myself off than being in the pool itself :D.

Marie: I understand what you mean about having your goal weight being someone else's high weight. But i think it's also important to take into account the body composition. Someone could be lower in weight than you but look the same or bigger due to a lower percentage of lean muscle mass. But ultimately, i think it's best to not compare yourself to others even though it's easier said than done.

I made it to 144.6 this morning. Will try to make it into the 143s by next weekend :)

Marie3 06-02-2017 12:53 PM

Thanks chub! You are right, it is better to not compare to others. Logically, I know we are just different builds. And that's okay! I can just focus on my own goals :)

Congrats on 144.6 that's great!!

chub 06-05-2017 02:23 AM

Super quick check in: Was back up to 145.6 today due to the heavy meals over the weekend. But being in the 143s is still very doable if I am good with my food for this upcoming week. I'll up my exercising by 15 minutes per day to see if that'll make any difference.

EagleRiverDee 06-05-2017 01:50 PM

149.2 for me this morning. Which I'm good with, as weekends is where I usually bounce up (due to having a looser diet) so this bodes well that maybe I'll drop a pound this week. You know how when you KNOW what you need to do but you just don't want to? I need to tweak my diet- a little less carbs, cut the cream in my coffee- and probably my weight would start dropping again. Basically my weight loss has caught up to my current caloric intake and I need to drop it again- but (cue my inner two year old) I don't wanna. LOL. Anyway- I'm going to try and start making some tweaks this week, see if I can kick start this weight loss. I know it's normal for it to get harder as you get closer to goal. But I have 14 lbs to go and want to get this over with, haha.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and let's do this thing this week!

Chub- I like your tweak of adding 15 mins of exercise! Good luck!

chub 06-07-2017 02:30 AM

Dee: I have the same issues during the weekends and on the days my boyfriend gets home early from work. I tend to eat more and the food I eat are usually terrible. That's the reason why I've been stalling for such a long time. I recognize the issue but I don't regret it since it's a time where I enjoy myself :D . I simply try to workout harder and eat slightly better the rest of the time to maintain.

Was at 146.2 this morning and I'm sure it will go up more due to the fries and fast food I had for dinner. Will eat cleaner tomorrow to make up for it :). There are still 4 days left to make my mini goal of being in the 143s

Marie3 06-09-2017 01:15 PM

Dee- I can totally relate to the two year old mentality of 'I don't wanna!!' Haha! How did making those little tweaks go? I need to do the same. I think I need to tweak some meals to more protein so I stay feeling full/satisfied better. I think while the meals I plan are in calories, I need to add more protein so I don't get to 8 pm and still feel starving.

Chub- how did adding 15 min for exercise go? I added an extra 15 to a workout this week, and I was so ravenous the rest of the night, gave into a lot of snacking... I usually try not to eat back much of my 'exercise' calories on MFP, but sometimes in unavoidable.

I'm back up to 146.6. Pretty bummed and I gotta get motivated to kick myself back into gear, cause I'm leaving on a short vacation on Wednesday and I know there will lots of nice food and eating out...

chub 06-09-2017 02:29 PM

Marie: it's been too short of a period of time for me to be able to tell a difference but I'm 144.4 this morning. This is potentially due to a conscious effort to cut down slightly on the bad food as well as the extra minutes of exercise.
I do get a long hungrier if i kick up my exercise significantly which is why I'm doing a gradual decrease. Tomorrow will consists of roughly 2 hours of cardio for me as I have a 10k in the morning and then a dance class later on. I will also try to not go banana on food as is my MO on the weekends :D. Hopefully it will help push me into the 143 by sunday or monday.

EagleRiverDee 06-09-2017 04:17 PM

Marie- I did weigh in at 148.4 this morning, hoping that's a sign that the tweaks are working. I've been trying to eat more mindfully, to deliberately not overeat. I gave up real cream in my coffee for half&half. I'm also going to start reducing carbs because I'm one of those very carb sensitive people, I lose weight much easier if I eat less carbs. As it is I avoid things like pasta and bread but I do eat yams and regular potatoes and rice and so for a while I'm going to cut those way back.

Chub- hope you hit 143 tomorrow!

EagleRiverDee 06-12-2017 01:32 PM

Hey everyone! How did everyone do over the weekend? Any grand adventures? My husband and I are having a house built and we're doing some of the work ourselves so Friday and Saturday I did work over at the new house. Sunday he left to go to a business meeting in Minneapolis, so I'm on my own until Wednesday. I got some workouts in yesterday, and then this week they're releasing some new workouts on the streaming service I subscribe to so I'm excited to try those. :) I'm down to 148.0 today, a new low weight for me, at least low in the past 15 years. 3 more lbs and my BMI will 'officially' be in the normal category. I know BMI is subjective but it's a mini-goal for me. :)

chub 06-12-2017 09:59 PM

Dee: Great job on the hitting a new low!
While I realize that the BMI is arbitrary, I think it's great to have a number that you want to work toward. I, myself, am also trying to escape the overweight category and it's motivating to know I'm very close to crossing that threshold to the normal category.
I spent a lot of time relaxing with my SO this weekend. It was really nice to just relax and do nothing with him. I did not hit my goal weight of 143 but I did eat cleaner this weekend than most :). Maybe that elusive 143 will show itself next weekend :D

chub 06-13-2017 07:55 PM

Was 143.8 this morning! I felt so motivated that i even added a short swim onto my 5 mile walk on the treadmill :D.
Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be in the 142s by monday although it IS Father's Day this weekend so some heavy eating is expected :D

Princessroja 06-14-2017 01:11 PM

Well, I am still alive... lol. I spent another 10 days out of town, during which time I learned I've been accepted to a graduate program (yay!) which requires a lot of details to figure out asap (hrmph), so it's been kind of chaotic.

No weight lost, but I'm at 149.0 today so after being out of town I'm pretty happy with that. I swear my friends are all on a grand mission to feed me ice cream, because you would not *believe* the amount of ice cream on this last trip. :sigh: Very hospitable, but very bad for losing weight, so like I said, I'm pretty happy that I'm only half a pound over where I was when I left. ;) Hopefully I can get right back on track now!

EagleRiverDee and Chub, you guys are doing fantastically!! So glad the scales are moving downward for you two. :D

chub 06-14-2017 01:22 PM

Roja: Congrats on your acceptance! What kind of program is it? Great job maintaining your weight during your trip. My vacation always end with at least a 10lbs gain

EagleRiverDee 06-14-2017 07:19 PM

Roja: Great job! Vacations are the hardest to do maintenance on, so well done!

Things are good here, I'm doing "Shaun Week" a 7 day workout program with trainer Shaun T on video. It's hard but am enjoying it. I want to start doing more resistance training so that I can become functionally stronger, so will probably be adding more of that soon. :)

chub 06-15-2017 01:48 AM

I love Shaun t's workout although it's way too intense for me. I'll be doing an insanity workout with some biking tomorrow. Not expecting to see a drop tomorrow since I had chips, pasta and a coke for dinner tonight.

I really like that in Shaun T's more recent workouts he includes a modifier person. When I first started, I couldn't do a lot of the jumping, the burpees (oh, how I hate burpees!) etc. I still can't do some of the stuff, and so follow the modifier- or when I get super tired I switch to the modifier- but more and more I'm finding I can do these things now. I can do burpees. I still hate doing burpees, but I can do them. I don't have to do all my pushups on my knees anymore, either. Which is nice also from the standpoint that my knees hurt and it hurts to put them on the hard floor, ha.

Biking is awesome. I had been going with friends once to twice a week but lately our schedules haven't been meshing up very well. I hope you have a great time!

Princessroja 06-15-2017 02:19 PM

Thanks! Chub, it's a Master of Arts Professional Practice in Dance Technique Pedagogy (yeah, it's a mouthful!). It's a distance program based in the UK for dance teachers who are currently teaching and want to incorporate that into their degree. There's just a lot of details and communication difficulties when you're reaching across continents and different education systems... things like trying to contact people are much, much harder, especially with the time difference. It adds a work day's delay to basically everything, so things are going verrrrrryyyy slooooowwwlllyy. Lol.

EagleRiverDee, that biking sounds fun. I need to start doing that again soon... gotta get my bike tire fixed!

Saw a small drop on the scale this morning to 148.8, which is very surprising considering we went out last night for pizza and ice cream to celebrate my husband getting a raise. I'm eating much better today so hopefully it'll keep going down.

chub 06-16-2017 03:22 PM

Roja: your major sounds really fun! Is there a specific form of dance that you are focused on? Your major itself sounds really active :D
Dee: unfortunately i was feeling lazy and did not bike (and when i say bike, i was referring to my stationary bike :D)
My weight remained the same today despite not having eaten well or exercise that much the past two days. It's not monday yet though so there is hope of getting down into the 142s :dancer:
