Glad you're here! And what a charming cat. :)

I noticed you mentioned BMI. I wonder if anyone knows of a way to get a BMI ticker? I just added a weight ticker, but didn't see a way to add BMI tracking...

Crimzon 02-19-2015 10:54 AM

One of your tickers shows your BMI Hunger. Wish I was at 20.6!

Crimzon 02-20-2015 08:55 AM

144 today !! Almost at last year's low of 142.

Where'd everyone go?

Yeah, I found that ticker after I asked about them. It's probably going to stay at that number for a while, as it's such a hassle to go update the ticker! ;)

Congrats on your progress! :broc:

Crimzon 02-21-2015 05:38 PM

I found it to be a hassle too - even the ones from this site - that's why I just composed my own, sort of, a ticker type thing. Maybe I'll add a BMI line. Thanks for your support. You're doing great too!!

raven90 02-21-2015 05:43 PM

I can't wait to say see you later 140s. I have been working out and tracking calories since my Wednesday weigh in. I usually weigh daily but I thought mabey I will stay on track better if I don't know, and I am definitely thinking about it more. So next Wednesday I will see.

Marniadec 02-21-2015 07:55 PM

Crimzon thanks! I should be an inspiration, really. I have such a hard time sticking to my plan that if I can do it, anyone can. Congrats on the loss!

Hungerwerks Sorry for the late reply. My ticker is from magical kingdoms if you're still interested but I see you've found one. I rarely update it, too, but I love Tinkerbell, so I keep it in my signature. :p

The cat is Regina, my first bottle baby. I lost her in 2012 and that's when I put her as my avatar. Our bond and the way we communicated was amazing, the struggle to teach her how to cat was real and she'll always have a special place in my heart.

raven90 Welcome! I applaud you for managing not to weigh in every day. I'm addicted to my scale.

So, I'm under 149 again after a week of debauchery, really. It was a week of birthdays, restaurants, rage-inducing things and prolonged PMS, so I took a break. I did well yesterday and I'm trying to do well today so I can get a good weigh-in tomorrow, which is my official weigh-in day.

raven90 02-21-2015 08:12 PM

Marniadec It has been hard. I have thought about the scale every morning. I have been thinking about my calorie intake more since I haven't weighed myself - like counting calories has been my replacement. It is tempting to weigh in the morning but I am at least going to go until Wednesday without it. I can't weight!!!

raven90 02-21-2015 08:24 PM

Marniadec and Crimzon It looks like we are roughly the same height and weight. Neat.

Oh, that's a cool idea! And thanks for your kind words. I find coming to this site really helps me stay on track. :carrot:

I'm so sorry for your loss. We have two cats, one extremely crazy some of the time and one totally sane. I can't imagine the connection you must have had, since you bottle fed her. This may seem weird, but I do believe pets have souls and live on, so I'll say bless her soul!

Durian 02-22-2015 01:34 PM

I'm teetering between 139 and 140 and have been that way for the last two weeks. I'm not sure if I'm stalled because I've increased my weight training, but it is frustrating.

Marniadec 02-22-2015 11:06 PM

raven90 As long as it works for you, that's great. I often retain water because I have Hashimoto's. It used to drive me crazy at first and I had to get away from the scale but I couldn't. It doesn't affect me now, though. I just need to know.

Hungerwerks It doesn't seem weird at all. I like to think that, too. I was 14 when I found her and I didn't know at all what I was doing, which is part of why it was so special. I still miss her every day. I have three more now, though. I find a female kitten every four years and I get stuck with her. How is your cat crazy? And what is a sane cat? I've never met such a creature.

Durian weight training does cause water retention. I recently started drinking the Greek equivalent of Pedialyte when I retain water and it seems to help me. It's supposed to help with water retention caused by Hashimoto's but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it.

She's probably just regular cat-crazy - running around like a maniac sometimes, and quiet and content other times. Maybe it's just in comparison to the other one, who's very chill. :D

You've been successful getting to this point - congratulations! Maybe you can make an interim goal, like getting to 139.5. I guess because I work with half-pound increments, I tend to gravitate towards that. Just an idea!

I'm so curious: We see a lot of interesting foods when we watch the Food Network, and durian is one of them. Do you have access to that, if you don't mind my asking? It's an intriguing avatar! :)

I'm sorry to hear about your Hashimoto's. Do you follow a specific diet to help with weight loss (i.e. wheat-free)? All of my (immediate) female family members have it but me.

I didn't realize weight training caused water retention. I will try drinking more water to see if it helps flush my system at all. I am also adding two days of aerobic pilates a week (starting this week), which will bring my weight training back down to three days. Maybe those changes will provide a little shift.

I like your idea of looking at half-pound increments. Thank you.

You can often find durian at Asian markets if you live near one. I love the durian divide; something about it just makes me laugh. :)

Marniadec 02-23-2015 05:29 PM

Hungerwerks She's energetic, then? My sympathies. I have two of those, although one of them is eight years old now, so she's finally quieting down a bit. I used to have bruises from her running into my shins every other minute. They're really fun to watch, though!

Durian I don't follow a specific diet, I don't think there is one. I tried different things when I first started googling but they didn't affect my health in the slightest.

When you do strength training, you basically hurt your muscles and then you retain water so they can rebuild themselves. I don't think you need to slow down, though. You'll adjust.

raven90 02-23-2015 06:23 PM

Interesting about the strength training. I do notice I retain lbs when I strength train, but I thought it was muscle because my muscles seem harder. I have been continuing to work out and count calories. I think the counting calories will be key for me. I have been trying to lose these last lbs since I gained them back over the holidays.

raven90 02-25-2015 10:50 AM

Well I made it through the week without weighing myself! I am going to go another week and do weigh-in Wednesday next week. Last night I ate too much nuts and chocolate. I was worried this morning that there may be no change on the scale or that it could be up. Well the scale was 4 lbs down from last week so yay! 5 more lbs and I will be in the 130s. 9 more lbs to my goal. I need to try to keep my caloried count down this week. Hopefully I will get a few days with the count around 1200-1300. and the rest of the days under 1600. Mabey 1 "cheat day" I got down to 135 before and I think counting calories is really what gets me there.

Wow, four pounds - that's amazing! :broc: Congratulations, Raven. And it sounds like you have a great plan, too. :)

raven90 02-25-2015 12:32 PM

HungerWerks Thanks - mabey I can do another 4 this week. That'd be great. :)

DLS1 02-26-2015 10:28 PM

Oh well, this happens with every single weight decade. I get stuck for a few weeks on one given number. This time it's 142, getting out of the 140's is really important for me because here (in Britain) your doctor weighs you in stones (one stone=14lbs.) so getting under 140 means you get into single digits "stone-wise" from 10 stone to 9 stone. So for now my goal is to be 9 stone 13lbs. HURUMPH :(

I just joined a gym to get moving again while dieting and as a result I went up 2 pounds after my last work out. I overworked my self big time and hurt walking up the stairs. Ouch? I didn't eat anything more that I plan but holding onto something. Very frustrating considering last week I was down to 127. Now up to 130. Gotta keep going the other way. I hope my legs will be good enough for my next work out on Saturday.

Maybe you could make smaller goals, based, for now, on American half pounds. That's what I do, even though sometimes it's tooth-and-nail even losing that (like this week!).

Be sure and take good care of yourself, Blondi. There's plenty of time. :)

raven90 02-27-2015 11:53 AM

Well I ate too many calories the past two days :( I have been sticking with my workouts. And Today is going well. It is just the evening time sugar cravings that get me. :( I need to get back on track if I want my next Wednesday weigh in to be good - at this point i'd be happy if it were only down one or two lbs next week - or even if it were the same that would be ok. I need to at least maintain my losses.

Marniadec 02-27-2015 02:17 PM

DLS1 Sounds frustrating. At least by the time you get into single digits, you'll have also beaten the plateau, so it's going to be even more exciting, right?

Blondi13 That is the one thing I hate about exercising. I like to push myself but I dread water retention. It happened too often and for no reason when I was bigger and it's traumatized me. Get some rest to ease your sore muscles and drink plenty of water.

raven90 Don't worry about it. I don't think there's a single person in here who never overeats. I don't understand why we keep beating ourselves up over it. I go off plan 1-2 days a week. I think that it's healthier and it helps me stick to my plan.

I'm about to hit my old time low (143) which is also my goal weight for this month so, of course, my IBS is acting up and I'm getting bloated. :( Normally when I'm in this situation, I go into maintenance mode for a couple of days, so I won't obsess and get frustrated but I'd decided to do well until the end of the month and I'm sticking with it.

raven90 02-27-2015 10:47 PM

Marniadec I'm trying not to worry about it too much. I'm just going to move forward. I wish it were easier to maintain a steady amount of calories and never overeat. If I didn't have days like that i'd be at my goal weight all the time. I guess you have to practice it to get better at it like any other thing. Sorry to hear about your IBS.

:cheer2: - for the sticking with it, not the IBS (which I hear wheat can worsen, for what it's worth)!

Crimzon 02-28-2015 10:54 AM

I don't know what to do (Well I do know but implementing is another thing!). I'm up again. Went on a mini-break and over-indulged. I keep losing and gaining the same 7-8 pounds. I'll do better this week.

I hope you begin to feel better Marniadec.

Marniadec 03-01-2015 12:45 AM

Hungerwerks I tried different things for Hashimoto's and avoiding wheat was one of them. It didn't affect either condition, it just made me miserable. It doesn't bother me a lot, I'm normally to regular, which is fine. It's just that when something changes, like if I travel or undereat for longer than my body is used to, I get constipated.

Crimzon I go through these periods where I get tired of dieting and I gain and lose the same pounds, too. It's usually just water, though. I usually end up going on a break until I feel like undereating again, no biggie. I still lost 111 lbs. :p

So, I exceeded my goal for the month! :cb: I'm now going into maintenance, which along with some fatty foods should take care of the IBS. I'll be back soon, I'm really looking forward to being in the 130's!:cheer2:

Getting ready for my workout today. The legs a re still a bit sore from Tuesday but I will take it easy this time. The trainers push you which is good but I push myself harder which can be the problem.

Just finished my workout and burned over 650 calories. It would be nice if I could get some weight loss as a result of it. Will see tomorrow.

Crimzon 03-02-2015 12:44 PM

Blondi - that is super you are working out - and with trainers!!

Marnie - thanks - I'm keeping at it. I think you have the right idea with IF.

Regarding Hashi's - me too. I'm gluten free because I'm low carb (for the most part). Not sure how gluten became the big bogey man right now but my Naturopath and Dr. want me to avoid it. I also read Getting to the Root Cause and that author wants it avoided as well. She points at leaky gut among other things.

Hovering at 146. Need to get back down this week. I met a woman yesterday who lost 20 pounds in two months going low carb. I need to get serious and started a food diary today.

Good luck this week!!

Yes Crimzon, I joined a club called Orange Theory Fitness. It is new to Canada but lots in the US? It is based on working out a group of people up to 24 and they put you through a routine for 60 minutes based on interval training and wearing heart rate monitors. It is cool. You see where you are at on a screen with everyone else as well. I am hoping it will get me moving in the right direction, downward again. I will be going again tomorrow and trying to start working out on my own at least 2 to 3 more days a week. I M hoping to keep at to to get in shape for the summer.

I am doing a low carb diet as well.

raven90 03-04-2015 05:28 PM

Well today the scale said 144 - happy to not have gained any over the week. I think I may have gained some and the lost some because I don't think I did that great on my calorie count. I did exercise and eat lots of healthy whole foods and vegetables. I am just going to try to keep the calorie count down and fit in some extra workouts this week.

Blondi13 03-04-2015 09:46 PM

Finally under 130. 129 and hopefully dropping. Trying something different and will see how it goes.

raven90 03-04-2015 11:19 PM

I did good today - I had 1390 calories and got in an hour of working out.
