Kifli - don't worry, you are doing so well :) Just write it all down and type it up when you have a chance. You'll be fine x

Climbed a mountain yesterday. 10 miles and 8,500' elevation gain. Took 8.5 hours. Everything hurts today and I knew the scale would be up a lot from all the water retention. I know it will go down though in a couple days. |

How am I up 7lbs?? I knew I'd be up a bit yesterday from the hike but why today? I ate on plan yesterday! Why am I up today????OMG totally freaking out, I haven't seen numbers this high in a while :( I'm extremely upset over this. Gosh now I'm contemplating not even taking Thanksgiving off bc of these numbers. Its like there's no reason for this! |
Dottington and Oneten - thank you for the words of encouragement!
Dottington - Whenever I have a huge workout like that, the second day is always the worst for me in regards to water retention and inflammation. I hope this is true for you as well. Awesome job climbing that mountain! The gain is worth it :) I'm in Portland (OR) and all of my favorite restaurants are here, but I'm going to be careful. My mom has Type 2 diabetes and is doing great on her new healthy way of eating, so I am going to try and be a good example for her :) No scale here, so I can't weigh in. I'm going to do a fitness video this am. Have a great week!!! |
Dottington - agree completely with kifli above. It sounds like temporary water weight to me (or muscle hehe)

I did research though and I guess this is a common phenomenon with people. Normally when I do climbs like this I've been training intensely for weeks, but since there is a very short window for this hike I had to do it at the end of the semester when I haven't been able to train(aside from my regular lifting routine). So I guess my body is in shock and I'm reading it will take a few days for it to go down. |
Dottington and Kifli-- Hang in there!
