Hello! I just found this forum and I'm finding everyone's journey very inspirational.
I've made lots of progress and hope to drop 10 more pounds, but I am worried that I am shrinking to nothing on top. My current measurements are 33-26-39. I also still have super big legs (24") compared to everything else. Size-wise I'm a size 10 pants and a 2 or 4 blouse/top. I'm beginning to get boney in the chest.
I've shed my pounds through diet and pilates. I want to add cardio (running) to help slim my legs, but I am worried that I will keep loosing weight on top. Are there any other pears out there who have found their "sweet spot" -- the point where weight loss really begins to impact their bottom half?? I know I can't change my genetics, but I'm hoping to get to a size 6 pants without getting smaller than a 2 on top.
I think full body weights might really help to even things out. give you more definition in your shoulders and arms as well as tone the legs and bum! With cardio as well perhaps if you have access to a gym do that machine that mimics climbing stairs?
I think everybody is different, but for me, at 5'3", I am quite pear shaped until I get under 130 or 120. I'm a little less pear shaped than you, but just to let you know, my legs do eventually lean out.
But, saying that, I don't know if you will have a "sweet spot" or not.
PS - yes, I know I'm not a featherweight right now, but hope to be again one day!
Hi!
Ive gained since but when I was at your weight (we're the same height) my measurements were 32/33-24-36/37. I'd say my sweet spot was 135-140ish I was pretty happy with the way my lower body looked although I think I would've been over the moon with it at 125-130.
I did a lot of spinning and cardio mixed with light/medium weight (6-8lbs) lifting that focused on the entire body with a dvd by the FIRM called the 500 calorie burn. I was wearing size 4/6 bottoms and a 2/4 up top. Long story short pilates is great but if you want to drop inches below I'd definitely add cardio ( spinning/walking/running) and lifting that focuses on your lower body while using weights to fill out your top. I'm pear shaped as well so I know the struggle.
