Congratulations on the loss this week, Vix!

I'm happy to report that after tweaking my calories a bit and adding in 30 minutes of daily cardio, I'm down 1.5 pounds this week. But...I'm not leaving this thread quite yet because I just ate my weight in kibbeh and lamb. I think this calls for an hour on the treadmill tonight to celebrate...once I digest a bit.

So happy to have supportive threads like this to keep me accountable. Good luck to everyone over the weekend!

Thanks, Vix! Your attitude is great too. If you focus on health, you will also look fantastic and have an easier time at maintenance. I can't offer any tips on spot-toning, but asking an instructor at the gym sounds like a good idea.

LTT, great job on the weight loss! I hope that kibbeh & lamb doesn't bump up the scale, but if it does, it's just a blip. I've been thinking about eating more lamb and goat/sheep cheese because I'm interested in getting more healthy fats in my diet. I had been thinking about buying some grass-fed beef but then I thought that sheep and goat products are at least mostly grass fed so maybe that would be another approach. I ended up buying an avacado instead, and I've got to work on eating that.

I'm down to 147.0 again today. Even if it doesn't stick, it's good validation the the trend is in the right direction.

Great job on the losses guy, you all are moving along so well!!
Lovestotravel we will miss you!
Vix I'm also not sure about those target areas, I need to target those areas as well. If you do get some advise from your instructor, please share.
Shrinking even though it wasn't a whoosh it was still a good loss!

As for me, I actually weighed Yesterday but I didn't get a chance to post until now. I'm at 141.8. I think I'm actually up .4 from last week. I had oral surgery last week and wasn't allowed to go to the gym at all. I'm just happy I was able to somewhat maintain. Hopefully I can get back to the gym sometime this week.

ShaMac, up .4 is noise, and surprising it wasn't more given the oral surgery you had last week. Hope you are feeling better and can get back in the gym habit soon!

Shrinking, your loss is great! Whooshes are fun to see but they aren't sustainable. Building healthy lifestyle habits is much more important than getting to goal faster.

The scale says 146.4 this morning. That's a good chunk downward for me. I think I'm seeing faster declines because I've been walking on the treadmill a lot more (I got into this mode because of a pedometer challenge). I'm sure I will not be walking this much on an ongoing basis (just takes too much time), and I even thought about intentionally stopping myself (weird, I know), but I decided to let it ride for as long as I feel like it.

Thanks for the encouraging words, ladies!
Did a fat fast yesterday and it worked astonishingly well! I did not restrict calories, in fact I ate far, far more calories than I usually do, but it was all fat.

Today I am down another .6 to 147.4.

I am tempted to fat fast again today (Atkins says to make it 3 - 5 days) but eating all that fat made me feel a bit nauseous yesterday.

Today I feel all wobbly and weak but I am pretty sure that has more to do with the workout I did last night than anything else. My poor old dog injured her foot so instead of walking her I went for a run; I did Couch25k. It was ridiculously hard! I have always found running to be really hard no matter how fit I am otherwise. Even when I can do an hour on the elliptical doing intervals and can leg press 200 pounds, I still have a hard time with running. My body hates the impact (big boobs) and I just feel weak. I think my Thalassemia (a form of anemia) probably hinders my blood oxygenation at high demand times like running, which doesn't help.

All night long I felt my body giving off a lot of heat, which it only does when I have had a seriously fat-burning workout. Today I feel all weak and wobbly but I can't tell if that's a result of the fat fast or the Couch25K. Probably a bit of both. I don't have a fever. My blood ketones are 1.9 (optimal) and my glucose is 85 (perfect).

Anyway, I did it! And I plan to do it again tomorrow.

Shrinking, I've never been able to run. Even when I was thin and jogged every day for months (hating every minute) the furthest I ever got was 2 miles. Good for you managing to do that on a fat fast day too!

I am 146.4 again this morning, so I am going to take ownership of 147. I don't know how much longer I'm going to keep up with this much walking (I'm on the treadmill now), but it has clearly goosed my weight loss. It's a good lesson to remember if I slack off and stall out.

149. Back up again...boo! Had a bad eating weekend so hope it will not stick. Going back at it with a mini goal to be at 144 by spring break (3/15). I can do this!

Down to 147.0 this morning. The fat fast is working! Day three today and then back to my regular IF/calorie cycling/low-carb tomorrow.

I am really worried because I am going on retreat this weekend and the food at this place is AMAZING. They make special meals for the vegetarians among us and they are really tasty but LOADED with carbs and calories. I hope they will accommodate me with lots and lots of salads and hard boiled eggs. Otherwise I'll just eat a few bites of this and that, exercise supreme self-control, and bring some low-carb foods I can keep in my room for emergencies.

I am also bummed because while we in SoCal have been praying for rain all winter, this retreat location has natural hot springs and the one weekend I need it to NOT rain, we are supposed to have a big storm rolling in.

Hey everyone! Great to read all your updates!!

Thanks for the congrats LTT!

Shamac, yoyoma is right to say you did great staying around the same after surgery and not being able to go to the gym. When we're all at our target weights these kinds of things will happen and showing that you can be strong now even when things don't go to plan shows that you are more than set for the future!! As for the problem spots, the instructor said pilates for the stomach/core, and to plank every day if I can - he said start at 30 seconds and work my way up. I find planks really hard so I'm not much looking forward to that!! Arms he said will be harder but he said to this exercise where you hold a weight and kind of lower it down your back behind you. I will try and find out the name of them to tell you. Plus, he recommended body pump, which I already do so I'll keep that up!

Shr1nk1ngme, I'm the same as you and yoyoma with the running, I was ok with sprinting at school but any more than that and I'm done!! The thought of people who run marathons is just...how?! What kind of food did you eat on the fat fast? Your approach is so well-informed, is it your field of work or have you just studied up on these things? I feel like a total amateur in comparison! Hope the storm stays away for your weekend - the retreat sounds amazing!!

Well done on your new lows yoyoma!!

Don't worry Gkm130, once you get back in your groove you'll be right back down!!

As for me, had a good weekend and got some new pants - size 8!! What sizes are all of you? Just curious...

Have a great week!!!

The fat fast isn't particularly pleasant or satisfying. The first day I felt nauseous. But it has definitely pushed me deeper into ketosis. Today I am eating extra celery because I can't handle just fat without any vegetables.

Here's what yesterday looked like:

8 oz coffee
1 tbsp heavy cream
1 tsp coconut oil

Pat of butter
1 oz Brie
1/2 avocado

8 oz coffee
1 tbsp heavy cream
1 tsp coconut oil

1/4 c macadamia nuts
1 oz full-fat cream cheese
5 sticks celery

1/2 avocado
1 oz Brie
1/4 cup macadamia nuts

Snack:
1 homemade chocolate peanut butter cup fat bomb:

Shrinking, I'm sorry the fat fast is hard on you, but you know the best way to tackle your own issues, so good on you for persevering!

Vix, nice pants NSV! I am a US size 8 now too. I think I will be a size 6 at 139.

Gmk, slip-ups don't defeat us as long as we get back on track. You're right. You can do this!

I am 146.8 this morning, up a bit. But that's fine. I am digging just making it down to 147.

Two days ago I was 147.0. This morning I was up to 147.4, but I expected that. Yesterday I ended up eating lunch as well as dinner. I took DD to lunch and thought I would make it my only meal instead of dinner. But oddly, come dinnertime, I was just as hungry as ever. So, I decided to embrace the exception and get back on the normal eating window schedule today.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

shr1nk1ngme: How's the fat fast going for you now?

yoyoma: It's tough when life gets in the way of all of our carefully laid (eating) plans, isn't it? Sounds like you're on top of this though, keep it up!

Vix: Congrats on the new pants! Every brand of pants fits a little differently, of course, but size 8 is pretty typical for me right now.

Came down with a cold this week. I'm still exercising regularly, but just walking at the moment- cardio and chest congestion don't go well together. I've been drinking a ton of water too so I'm expecting to see a temporary bump up in my weigh-in today.

I only did three days of the fat fast. It is not a healthy WOE, it is only intended to jump-start ketosis for a resistant metabolism. It did that, and then some, so I went back to my ordinary WOE (JUDDD/IF, vegetarian, low-carb).

My weight is down to 146.6 this morning and since today is another DownDay I expect that number to be a bit lower tomorrow morning.
