Was just thinking it might be fun to know a bit more about eachother.. its a small thread so it's nice to get to know the people in here.
Like, how old are you? What do you do? And what will thrill you most about reaching your goal weight?
I'm 21. I'm at university at the moment but I finish after May and then I don't know what I'm going to do! I've already got quite a lot of nice clothes in small sizes which I'm hoping to be able to fit into once I get to goal. Plus I've been putting off buying new clothes until I get to my goal so I'm excited about going shopping.
I'm 25, I teach voice and piano and I'm starting my Master's in Public Health in the fall..not sure where I'm going yet but it's either going to be here in Toronto or in Washington, DC. I'm interested in obesity in low-income families. I just want to look hot..and feel fit..those are really my only motivations. It is really tough though since I'm already in a healthy weight range it's slow going.
I've decided to do intermittent fasting hardcore this month to see if it helps me stick within my calorie range. I'm making my window from 1-9pm but I might make it smaller if I can. So far today is going well...
12:30 - Whole grain toast with peanut butter and a banana 450
3:00 - 1 cup 1% milk and 1/2 a protein bar 300
My plan is to make whole wheat pasta with kale and pesto for dinner and then be done eating for the day..I have class tonight so I'll just buy a tea at school. I weight lifted last night and I am going to hit the gym again tomorrow morning. Glad to hear I was motivating! I always find other people on this forum very motivating too
I watched a program on public television last night about eating more micronutrients and changing habits that lead to food addictions. The doc made a pretty convincing argument against typical American meals and replacing them with more fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts. I got up this morning and made a shake with yogurt, strawberries, an orange, an apple and spinach. It is what I had in my kitchen. It tasted good but it was more brown than green so it looked rather awful. I do like the idea of eating more plants and losing the processed stuff.

Good morning/day/evening everyone! I hope your first week (almost a week) of March has been positive!
So, a quick intro to myself. I am 23, I graduated from University (originally I did International Relations but switched to Political Science) last Spring, I now am an office assistant, and I think what would thrill me most about reaching my goal weight would be oh my goodness, probably just reaching the goal, and that because I love the way I feel and look at that weight. I was there before and I am determined to be there again! Also, I love sundresses and shorts, and I want to feel ultra confident when I wear them this summer! Oh my gosh, and swimsuits, I LOVE swimsuits!
So, I don't know if I went over my plan before but here it is! So I am trying to exercise everyday (alternating between hard and easy days), and stay within 1200-1400 calories (on hard days eating more). But then tomorrow do a fairly calm jog or elliptical exercise. Okay, so not a really specific plan, mostly just exercise and watching what I eat.
Also, I realized that in order to finish 7 miles in under an hour I would have to be consistently running less than a 9 minute mile. There is no way that is going to happen. Therefore- New Goal - finish in less than 1hour and 10 minutes (thus running slightly less than a 10minute mile throughout). I think that is a bit more realistic of a goal!
Philana, I am friends with you on MyFitnessPal and I must say, you are pretty inspiring day to day! I have found that procrastinators can be incredibly focused when the time comes and I do believe that you have gotten that focus! Good job!
I'm not sure what's going on here, might be the stomach bug I seem to have picked up, or it could be that I've finally got my act together, but last night at my WW weigh in I weighed in at 134.0, that's a 2.6 lb loss, added to the 2 lb loss of the week before it's almost 5 lbs in two weeks.
This morning I weighed in at home at 133.0. I can't remember the last time I weighed that much, or ever being this size. So exhausted from terrible stomach pain that kept me up all night. Hoping I don't have to count the points in Tums.
moviegirl-Sorry about the tummy problems. I hope you feel better soon. Congrats on the 2.6 loss. Those are awesome results for just two weeks.
I did really well with the fruits and vegetables today. Between the green shake in the morning and the soup and salad at dinner I had 3 different fruits and about a dozen different vegetables!
Yesterday was very, very bad but today was better. I have a busy weekend ahead so I do not expect to do so well with the calories. However, next week will be extra quiet so hopefully I can make up for things then.
Moviegirl-Hope you are feeling better. If you have to be sick, at least it is some comfort to take off a few pounds while you are at it.
philana-Thank goodness the TOM malaise doesn't last forever. You will be up and at it soon enough.
I DID IT!!!! I finished my race (without stopping or walking once ) today under 1 hour and 10 minutes (an average of a ten minute mile)! I actually finished near a 9 minute mile!!!! My end time was 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 52 second!
moviegirl, I really hope you are feeling better and your recovery is continuing to get better and better!
Philana, what is TOM? I keep hearing people mention it and I have absolutely no idea what it is.
TERAPET, hopefully your weekend is going alright. Even if you can't stay within an amount, don't give up for the day (I do that sometimes and then eat everything!)! You can do it and finish the week strong!!!!
WinterRunner-Congratulations on your accomplishment. That is so cool. Running is so rewarding and fun. Did you have some nice weather? Thanks for the encouragement. I did make an attempt to keep my calories kinda in line and I do expect to do better during the week. I don't have anything going on so it shouldn't be too difficult, until Friday comes around again anyway. Oh and BTW, TOM stands for "time of month".
WinterRunner - AWESOME time on the run! Congrats ! I can't wait to be there.
I have been TOTALLY failing so far which is why I've not checked in much. I decided to use my other scale also, which puts me up by 6lbs in total. But, I've been on plan today and I ran twice yesterday (one officiel race 5k and then 7k when I got home because I was SO annoyed at my race time and just the way I ran at the race I needed to wind down nicely lol). Went skating for an hour today and I stayed within cals.
I also am gonna pay supet good attention to my food. I wont reach goal this month or maybe not even in april, but I am so fed up with my own failing that I am gonna focus mostly on running-goals instead of weight-goals. The weight will come when I can run enough and eat good because I don't wanna poison my body before a run. lol.
I've not struggled this much in ever - it's because I moved back home a few months ago and my mom keeps food everywhere, she is in NO way supportive and I just cannot control myself with the candy and baked goods and hearthy dinners all around me. It was so easy when I lived on my own, I just did not buy junk and I was fine. Maybe once every 2 weeks I just had to go buy junk and eat it. Now I have to keep myself in check everyday, and so far I've not been able to do it for more than 3 days in a row.
Philana - I totally know how you feel about having temptation everywhere. My boyfriend eats crap and drinks alcohol and I have a really hard time not indulging with him! I'm so motivated to stick with in my calorie range and work-out hard core. We can do this!!
