Smile December Goals...NYE Challenge!!!

Okay, it's a few days until December, but it was a hard month for me and I am ready to start fresh with new goals for December!!!

Thought I'd start a thread to track goals - everyone is welcome to post their goals for weight loss/exercise, health, etc.

I know it will be hard with the holidays...we have Chanukah starting next week already!!!

I also have 3 business trips planned, Christmas parties, a NYE party, and my sister and dad's birthdays.

Start thinking about where YOU want to be at on New Year's Eve and post your goals/plan to get there! It's a hard month, but with some motivation and planning - we can do it!!!

I won't be around a scale on NYE since I'll be on vacation in Germany, so I'll set this as my birthday goal (Dec. 24). I lost barely 1-2 lbs in November and I can't say I'm too optimistic about December. I am bouncing around 127-128 for the most part so I'll say...

Xmas Eve Goal: Below 124.0 lbs

Okay, so i've been thinking about my goals for the past few days...I basically met my November goals and still only saw a few pounds of loss. I KNOW I can do better than that! Time to step things up...

Diet Goals: No calorie goal right now, but change of diet to be as close to vegan as I can, focusing on vegetables as my main source of food. Hoping this will make it easier to stay below 1500 cals and not be starving. Also, it's healthier. I was really eating a lot of eggs/reduced fat cheese as they are low cal and keep me full, and I am concerned about the effects of that on my health.

Exercise: 2 runs and 2 lifts per week. My yoga studio is closed after Dec 8th, so a little break there.

Weight: Want to see 135 by NYE, but it might not be totally feasible. I guess I will play this one by ear...Under 140 would be great and HOPEFULLY do-able! LOL!

I am definitely in! I really really would love to see 142 again. I am bouncing right now between 146-148. So my goal for 12/31 which is also my birthday will be 140-142. This week was a definite splurge but back on the wagon tomorrow.

My very very optimistic goal is to be at 120 by NYE. I would be happy in the low 120's though. I have a ton of parties to go to but I'm going to try my hardest so i can start off 2011 in happy spirits. Good luck everyone.

I was 129 on Thanksgiving. Haven't weighed myself since then, but since I'm a slow loser, my goal is 128 for New Year's Eve.

Welcome everyone!

It's not December yet, but had a great day. Stayed at about 1300 calories and did 30 minutes of incline walking at the gym (plus walking to the gym was about 1/2 mile I believe, so that added an extra mile to my daily 2)

I was 134.4 a week ago but I still haven't lost the Thanksgiving 5. So if I was where I was a week ago I'd say I want to be out of the 130's, but I don't know if that is feasible now.

I'm doing WW and they unrolled their new plan yesterday. I was getting sloppy with tracking because I didn't want to figure out how much things were only for that data to be obsolete in a few days. Well, apparently tracking and knowing where I'm at is critical to my success. I have the new plan now and I shall be tracking again beginning today.

I would love to be 130 by NYE. I think it's doable if I can get my head around it.

It's like I'm two people: the chips eating couch potatoe who says "I'll exercise later" and the super charged Tae-Bo girl.

Can I get them to merge? vegetable eating hyper-girl lying on the couch after Tae-Bo?

anyway, 130 would be great, great, great.

YES! This is so smart to have a challenge in the middle of the holidays! I find without my rules/guidelines/whatever, I enter free-for-all mode. I have this very odd problem about having to "finish" tempting food so I don't have to deal with it any more. Sometimes it goes in the garbage, but more often in me! Ick. It's dangerously close to binging behavior, but if I can convince myself not to start at all - problem solved.

So I am going to attempt to have the rule of no sugar. That will keep me away from all the holiday goodies. Planning out meals really helps me, too. I do South Beach, so that makes sure I am getting a ton of veggies and fruit and whole grains (which I choose to limit to 1 serving a day).

I'm back to my hour+ a day of exercise. I don't have a very specific plan worked out, but for now it's brisk walking for an hour, including hills/inclines, and intense yoga 3-4 times/week. My arms look great from the yoga! Now if only my belly and thighs would catch up

Weight-wise, I wanted to be at 129.8 lbs by Jan 1. Almost for sure not going to happen, as I am around 136 lbs right now. But I hope to get within striking range...
And NOT do what I did last December, which was to go UP around 8 lbs

EmmaD - I feel the same way!!! I've been know to eat an entire ______ just so I don't have to think about eating it the next day, or the next 3 days!

One thing that helps me, is the reminder that once we pay for something, it doesn't matter what we do with it - ie, eat it, throw it away, give it away. The money has already been spent and therefore it is a "sunk cost." What we do with it is irrelevent and the costs are the same as long as we still spend the same amount at the grocery store the next time, and aren't compensating by buying twice as many groceries as half of them are being thrown out.

LOL, not sure if that concept makes any sense, it's an accounting principle...I'm a business graduate student and the refresher about "sunk costs" really hit home for me!!! I just hate wasting food, money, etc! But really, for things we are eating in addition to regular meals, it's not going to make that much of a difference to eat it or to just give it away or throw it away.

I made my Dec. 1 goal of under 57.0 kg. That puts me at 125 now (!!!!!), which makes me think I should lower my birthday goal. Part of me wants to push for 120 but 5 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks is a lot when you're me. I'll say 122 for now.
