So, here's the deal. It's really, really hot in Alabama. Even when I get home after dark, it's still in the high 80's. But I am so freaking tired of running on a treadmill... It's boring. I have some good sports bras, but I have never gone out running without a shirt on over the top of it. I wear running shorts on the bottom.
I've lost 20 pounds, and I'm looking pretty decent these days, but I still don't have a really flat tummy like I'm aiming for. Would it be gross of me to just throw on a sports bra and shorts and go running outside? I really, really want to, but I'd be miserable in a t-shirt.
Do you ladies think that one has to be at their absolute goal to wear fewer clothes when exercising?
It's getting hot here, too, and I've been contemplating the jog bra thing. However, I'm not entirely sure which of my tops are "just bras" and which ones are OK to wear alone.
I've been running in knee pants and it's too hot for those, now, too. Time to get some more shorts & skirts.
I wear a tight work out shirt. If I feel like it is too hot, I'll lift it off of my tummy (the bra part of the workout shirt is still supporting you). If I am running past someone, I quickly put it down. But I recognize that it is my own insecurity and not because my body is so jiggly or bad. I believe that if you have the confidence to go out with a sport's bra and no shirt, do it!!!
I did it last night! Well, kind of. I wore a tight tank over it and folded it up, just in case I changed my mind. It's so weird showing skin in public, but it felt SOOOO much better than running in a nasty heavy cotton t-shirt!
I decided that if I can wear a bikini on the beach, I can go running in a sports bra. If people are looking closely enough to be offended, well, in the words of my sweet grandma, they deserve what they see.
It was a pretty big step, but I can't wait until my body is where I want it to be, so I can feel even more confident. Thanks for all the support, ladies!
Did it yesterday ladies! Ocean City boardwalk. 1:00 pm. Hundreds and hundreds of people milling about. It was empowering! It also pushed me to run waaay faster than usual; I figured if I was going to run in just a bra top (and short running shorts too) I better own it. I ran 4 miles, and timed 3 of them -- 8:37, 9:00, 8:42. Normally I am super-pleased with 10 minute miles. It helped that it was totally flat and I wasn't pushing a jog stroller!
