  • I have to go back to work today. My vacation has just flown by!

I'm a little anxious about maintaining my new plan. Elliptical has been good. I've found a weights regimen that I like. I've done very well for two days now, eating a combo of carb and protein every three hours or so. In theory ... this should still work well if I work 3-11. In theory ... should ...
  • I'm struggling a bit. I had a bad day yesterday and today, whilst I'm still on plan, I'm eating chocolate in my head. Just gonna try and make it through. Sigh.
  • I am also having a hard time getting back on track. Exercise good, food not so good. I have to motivate myself to shop, cook, prepare and eat better.

It's the chocolate that I'm always wanting too! One thing that helps me is drinking the Swiss Miss brand 25 calorie hot cocoa at night when I'm watching tv. It gives me that chocolate fix, it's warm and comforting and not so bad calorie-wise!

Not sure if they have this or something similar in the UK to get you over that chocolate hump!
  • Susan.....back to work? Ugh! I hate getting back to reality after a vacation. Your new plan sounds good, though. I like my elliptical.....I just need to find the motivation to get on it a little more often than I have lately, LOL.

Time to start...I find that planning meals for the week really helps to keep me on track a little more. If I buy the groceries, plan the meals, etc, then I typically stick with the plan. Why eat too many snacks, when I have a healthy meal planned for later, kwim? So I think your idea of trying to plan a little more might help! We all have those days!
  • C'mon Kellost! I can't be ellipticalling alone!

I did OK today. I only ate what I took to work. As for exercise ... I took a short walk outside but nothing exciting. I was afraid to wear myself out for work. Ya know how wearying that first day back is?

So I should try to throw some weights around tomorrow morning.
  • Okay, I just have to post this.......I weighed in at 129 this morning!!! 129!!! I'm in the 120's! CRAZY and something I never really thought possible! Of course, today is my dad's birthday and we are going out to eat at a not so healthy place tonight. I'll probably be back at 130 by day's end, LOL! But I'm feeling really happy right now, and I just had to share it with my Featherweights!
  • Despite eating a little too much (of healthy stuff) on Saturday and eating far too much (pizza, ice cream) on Sunday... I've reached a new 2010 low, 127.2! Almost back down to my recent (November) low of 126.6.

Classes have started, which is good and bad... it keeps me busier so I'm not thinking about food as much, but it makes it hard to get any real work done. Especially my teaching duties, which take up about 10 hours of my week, not counting grading! Now I'm starting to understand why my TAs always seemed bitter and angry... we were keeping them from doing IMPORTANT stuff.

Today my favorite gym on campus FINALLY opens back up after being closed all through the school break. DH is going to go with me every weekday, which is nice both because I care about his health and happiness, and I LOVE getting a ride home instead of having to wait for the bus.

Kellost, sooo proud of you, you've come a long way!!

Way to go, Mayness!!!!! This is awesome!

    Aww....thanks!
  • Congrats, kellost & mayness, on the new lows!

My Friday weigh-in was 144.6 (from 144.4 the previous Sunday), despite being 100% on plan with exercise and pretty darned good with food (not 100% OP, but within calorie range every day) all week. Sigh. I weighed again on Sunday, b/c last week I had a 4 pound drop from Friday to Sunday, only to see 146.6 - so not the direction I had hoped! Haven't weighed since, and I'm just hoping that since I'm doing everything right, the scale will come 'round soon enough. The pants I put on today felt looser than they did when I wore them last Wednesday; however, I can't remember if I've washed them since the last wearing or just figured they were "clean enough" and stuck them back on the hanger (I'm gross, I know), so I'm not sure I can trust this particular pants-o-meter reading.

Off to yoga...talk to you ladies soon!
  • Greetings!

SusanB - thanks for the encouragement and for always being here

Doughnut - thanks for the welcome back

To everyone else, I hope you have a great day! I'm still sore from working out this weekend - which is great news for me, because I find it so hard to wake up & get out the door so early!

    Congrats to Kellost & mayness!!!
  • sooo i finally convinced myself to go check out the gym today, and it was fantastic! super nice, and i did most of my homework while on the bike and the elliptical, and i feel fantastic about myself for finally going. i cant wait to go again on thursday

the scale hasnt been being to nice to me the past couple days, but im hoping that my body will get back on track. my body has a cycle on when it will and will not lose weight, so hopefully this not losing ends.
Im so eager to see a 120's number. i think i might just die when i actually do.

Kellost, congrats on those 120's. im super jealous, but am hoping to catch up with you soon

su-bee: i do that with my pants too. there just doesnt seem to be justification in washing them if i only wore them to school or around the house. seems like a waste of water.

i hope you ladies are doing fantastic. as always i love coming here and reading for encouragement.
  • Good morning.

I got nuthin new. My "dig in my heels plan for working evening shift" worked for one shift but not the next. Hmmm ... Guess I'll have to try that again.

Sadly, even at my age and level of 'experience' with this stuff, I know I'd lose faster if I ate next to nothing and slept a lot. The lure of unhealthy, but fast results is a frightening thing.
What do you think feathers? The thrill of that initial whoosh is gone. Nobody is noticing our loses any more. Gone are the days of 2-3 pound weeks. We struggle to find gratification in the pants'o'meter or the measuring tape.
