Talking Feathers Plan & Chat Nov. 10 - 16

Wow! This year is passing so quickly. Hard to believe the holiday season is almost here. Sounds like most of us are attending a lot of events in November already!

What's up with all of you this week? Have a great one!

Thumbs up My pre-holiday strategy

I'm weighing myself before, during and after the weekend to keep the "event" eating in check.

It worked this past weekend : and, since I have eating "events" coming up the next two weekends, I'm hoping to establish a pattern of maintaining during the weekends and losing during the week. I'm staying at the house with the "goddess" mirror this coming weekend so will be looking at my gorgeous self in my skinniest jeans all weekend as well.

I'm only really trying to lose 3 more lbs. so I think I can (finally!!!) make goal before Christmas. If I get down into the 120 that will all be bonus !

I'm really lucky because, working outside, I don't get all of those Christmas treats being brought to work temptations . And this year I'm spending Christmas Day and Boxing Day by myself so it will all be low cal healthy food !

Before we all start crying for me here I celebrate Christmas with my DH and my family on Christmas Eve. DH has to drive for 6 hours on Christmas Day to get to his family so I'm really lucky to be working and pass on that little bit of h*ll.

You Americans have your Thanksgiving really late (?) this year so we Canadians have an additional bonus in that the major eating events are spaced out more for us. We have time to recover from Thanksgiving, get through Halloween, and have lots of time before Christmas to "skinny up".

That's the plan

Hi everyone! Happy Monday. I got a little carried away with dinner tonight and I'm not feeling too good about that right now. I just had no self control when I was getting things ready. I have to break that habit of nibbling on everything in front of me. I'll have to do a little extra tomorrow to work it off.

I didn't get out for my walk today, but I did get on the treadmill. That felt good. I'm such a slacker lately. But, I did plan my meals out and make a good grocery list. Now I just have to follow through for the week!

Mudpie- you are so close to your goal! How great will that be to hit the holidays at your low weight!

Have a good evening everyone~

I've been this close to goal for about 6 months now. But you never know - I might just make it.

Probably not if I continue to read all the catalogues full of Christmas goodies that are coming through my mail slot.
Started drooling (literally) while flipping through one I've bought stuff from before. Most of the goodies that year went through a "taste test" before making it to the intended recipients.

And I was just over at maintainers reminiscing about my mom and I making fruitcake and drinking brandy. Totally ruined me for ever eating store bought. My mom was a fabulous baker.

Christmas! Season of stuffing!

Congrats Susan!

gogirl, I walk in the door sooooo hungry- famished. Very commonly I'll eat up the majority of my calories with those BLTs, bites, licks and tastes.

I figure as long as I log them as calories eaten... that's the best I can do, after the fact. SO, if it means just a small bit of veggie instead of entire meal with the fam... whaddya gonna do?

For the vast majority of weekday nights that I commute and work, the kids eat way earlier than I get home, anyway. It is not as much of an issue. DH comes home often times way later than me and heads to the gym... again, not much of an issue there either.

Often the only family meal we have is on Sunday evening. huh. not what I imagined in my betty crocker fantasy.

My day went well. Nice run in the am. Followed by brought to work OP breakfast and salad/chicken lunch. Home to Thai chicken (sooo yum) thighs prepared by au pair for children. She knows I love them so she made me and DH a bunch. I stood at the counter and had 2. Followed by 3 laughing cow cheeses. Followed by 1/8 cup roasted peanuts. Followed later by 6 trader joe's dark choc mac nuts. Now still hungry--- will have chammomile mango (again, so yum) tea followed by reading in bed for book club deadline and getting out of dodge!! (the kitchen)

Dagmar, I now have an image of you baking with your mother... nice. brandy... sooo yum
Hi Carey and Allison

see you all tomorrow!

Ilene!! You're back! Wow I love how many people I remember from when I used to post here. *sigh* it's really quite comforting.

I am bad for BLTs as you put it too, kitty. It's so easy to have a handful of this, or a nibble of that and go through a bunch of calories. I try really hard to avoid this though because though I like to track calories I usually forget about those because they happen so sporadically.

I'm glad you can go to the gym, Susan, that would be a motivator I would think...

Good luck with reaching goal, Dagmar, I think a lot of people get really close and just stay there, I know I have a few times...

Soooo, today I am starting the 30 Day Shred (I got my DVD in the mail yesterday!! so excited) and I also got (I write this because of your other post, Susan, about You Are What You Eat) Jillian McKeith's cookbook and it is really interesting.

Also!! I have a been looking for a job for a while now and I am very excited!!!!!!! I think I have secured a place at the gym I go to! I had a half hour interview on the phone with the the President(?!?!) of all of the gyms (Spa Lady) and have an official interview on Wednesday. She seemed really happy with my answers to her questions and said I could start working on the floor rather than anything to do with admin because I have an interest in nutrition (YAY! my obsession with random nutrition things have paid off). Anywaaaay, wish me luck ladies :

I think it would be such a good fit for me, and such an inspiring and positive place to work. Eeee! I'm really excited. If it wasn't obvious.

Hello Featherweights,

I've not really posted here before, but I had to come to this forum to post my HUGE exciting NSV:

I tried on size 2 jeans yesterday at Target and THEY WERE TOO BIG!! OK, so the inner critic is all over this fact, with assertions like "the sizes run big," "the jeans were mislabelled," or any other such thing. But despite this detrimental inner monologue, I'm psyched!! And I figured this would be the best forum to share...probably the point of having a "featherweights" forum is to celebrate things like this.

Thanks for "listening!!" Hopefully I'll be back more regularly!

S
