Talking New target for September

I'm going on vacation to NYC for a week in Sept. Goals for that are:

Weight - under 130
Measurements - 25" waist, 37" hips.

Sorry I don't have metric equivalents. Canada is a weird country that way. Everyone under the age of 20 is all metric and most people over 40 are imperial . We can't decide on one official language either

I've started cutting down on carbs lately. They make me feel bloated and give me just a small energy lift for a short time. Then I start to crave more .

I'm substituting protein by taking along things for the afternoon slump like canned turkey and eggs, to go with my vegetable snacks. A cooler in the trunk of the car keeps them refrigerated.

I've had to cut back to two sessions with my trainer per month (finances rather than loss of desire) but DH is now taking an interest and he asked to see one of my routines yesterday . Hope he's finally getting serious about getting back in shape.

I've got about 5 lbs. to lose in 11 weeks. I see a lot of salads in my summer

Good morning all!!

Dagmar - Sounds like you are off to a good start. 5lbs in 11 weeks sounds very reasonable - about .5/wk?

I am doing pretty well right now; I was able to update my ticker yesterday after weigh-in. I am officially "halfway there"!! (although 105lbs is more of a target area.) Part of me is really happy about that, but the other part is saying "Halfway there? Shouldn't I be further along than that by now?" but the rate I've been losing at has been healthy overall, which is the important thing. I have 8 weeks of summer left, so that evens out to 1lb/week still. Haven't hit a true plateau yet (and don't want to) but we will see how the next 2 months go.

I hit a slump for a few days last week, mostly diet-wise, but nothing too major. I tried to do C25k outside on Friday but running outside is definitely harder than the treadmill! I "re-did" it on Saturday at the gym when it was open again, with my new pump-up music which went a lot better. Today I want to take my dad's spinning class, so I will probably push W3D1 until tomorrow and do my weightlifting today before the class.

On Saturday night, a friend of ours came over and my mom wanted me to show her the dresses I had so I was trying them all on for her....and I could really tell a difference in the fit of each dress! Especially one that is very "unforgiving" in the tummy area if there is any extra stuff underneath....I could actually BREATHE normally in them all!!

This weekend I am traveling to Cincinnati for a family reunion-type event, which will require me to dress up, so I am glad I have a goal to work towards - looking GOOD in all those pictures!! Plus, my aunt who is going to be there supposedly lost a lot of weight recently, and I don't want to pale in comparison to her! Haha.

What's new this week feathers??

Dagmar I agree, that's a great goal. I tend to get a little too ambitious in the goal department and end up frustrutad.

Kimberly isn't that a great feeling when you try something on again after losing?

I wasn't *too* bad over the holiday weekend, the only day I really went over was on Saturday where we went to a party then an after party... and did I really have that much beer? Oh well. I got in a ton of exercise over the weekend, so I was hoping that would compensate, but alas, the scale won't budge...

Anyway, I'm hoping this will be a good week for all of us.

Dogmar, sounds like you will be fine. And NYC? Never been, but I'm sure t's fantastic and you'll have a great time!

I think I've hit a plateau right now, and it would just so happen after gaining weight... I'm going to try zig zagging my calorie intake day by day to keep my body guessing. If anybody else has been through a plateau please please give me some advise!! It's very frustrating considering I have only lost 10 lbs

hi all,

been away for awhile, I am trying to keep up with the summer weight loss team challenge _ I think the .5 a week plan is very do-able too - salads with added protein should help the process.

NYC in September should be fun - hot but fun - comfy shoes needed, I go into the city on Wednesday- Broadway tickets at discount prices for matinees.

I can't believe it is July either!

hi all! i just joined a few days ago so i hope you don't mine me jumping in on the conversation :-) i've decided to finally get serious about losing this "freshman 15" i put on this year, plus a little extra.

i've been doing the learn&burn turbo jam for the past 2 days [just to get the moves down..then ill move on to cardio party] and apparently that burns about 250 calories each time.

when i was young and stupid, i would not exercise but would restrict to about 500 calories a day. i read somewhere that restricting under 1200 calories a day puts your body into starvation mode and is extremely dangerous and might even cause you to GAIN weight...so no more of that.

i'm just focusing on cutting out some of the junk i eat and exercising for at least 30 minutes a day. i'm keeping track of all of it on fitday which is an amazing site, as im sure most of you know. i also made a virtual weight loss model on prevention.com to "keep my eyes on the prize" as they say. wish me luck! and good luck to all of you too!

(sorry this post is so long!! i didn't realize it until just now)

Dagmar - Welcome back! Your goals are certainly achievable.

I was so close to my 4th July goal but then blew it last week and gained about 4 pounds (HUH????!!!! Still don't know quite how that happened). Anyway, I'm going to wait till this Friday to post a weigh in.

More tomorrow... just wanted to say!

I ate a lot of carbs one long weekend away from home and found the same 4 lb gain on my return. It was all gone by the following Friday so I hope the same happens to you.

Good morning Featherweights!

Claire - I bet you didn't gain a full 4lbs, just keep exercising & eating healthy then weigh yourself in 2 or 3 days! I know you can do it

Welcome Ashley!! I am trying to lose the Freshman 15 too (well, it LOOKS like the Freshman 15 on my 4'10" frame :lol) plus some "chubbiness" I've always had but hated. Posting on 3FC is great for keeping yourself accountable, and it's also good to see what others are doing on their WL journey....I hope you stick around - it will be worth it!

It sounds like everyone indulged a little over the holiday weekend....but we're all back on track, right?

I'm doing fine this week; I think I'm getting my "second wind" of motivation after a slightly sluggish long weekend. I have the feeling I might hit a plateau soon, so there's no room for slowing down now!!

I have a diet-related question for you all.....what are your favorite foods that you eat almost every day? YOGURT with fresh fruit is my thing lately....vanilla is my favorite but Yoplait Light is really yummy too (Key Lime Pie, Lemon, Cherry, and Raspberry are some of my favorites). Also, if there aren't leftovers from dinner the night before, I bring a 1/2 sandwich for lunch - whole wheat bread + peanut butter + cinnamon + sliced bananas = hahahah.

Hi everyone!
I am relatively new to this site and just noticed this thread. I am so glad to have found a place that I will be supported in my goals. Since I only want to lose 10-20 lbs it is hard to find encouragement. Recently I have also been eating a lot of yogurt and fruit. Sliced banana on fat free french vanilla is my favorite. Also, fat free cottage cheese and hummus are two staple foods in my diet. My plan for the week is to get to the gym tonight for a run and Wednesday for a bootcamp class. Plus, lots of walks with my dog. I have started counting calories on FitDay (great isn't it ashley916!). I try to stay under 1500, sometimes I only end up eating 1000 though. I am not sure if this is too low or not, but I am just trying it out for a bit to see what happens. Anyways, hope everyone has a great week!!

I too like yoplait - any of the citrus ones but for a treat I do like the chocolate one to dip fruit in

Hello again all Just back from our giant, family-reunion-4th. We do it every year.

I had already planned in advance that I would be largely off plan all weekend, but am trying to be okay with it since it is a special/once-a-year occasion.

This morning I was up 1.5 lbs from last week, so I have no idea what my Friday weigh in will bring.

I know I normally get personal, bu I need to start fresh from this thread since I was gone for so long! I'll be trying to catch up on all of you.

welcome ashley and time2shine!

*sigh* i gained my pound back and i can't get it to leave me again. i'm struggling not to eat like a cow as it's that time of month... but i remind myself that that pound will not go away if i do so. (hence i am posting on here instead of eating, which is what i really want to do!!)

as for the question of foods i eat daily... fresh fruit at the moment, because it's in season and i can get it. and it's delicious! i will also often eat a Luna bar at breakfast because it's easy to grab and eat in my car when i am in a rush.
