Hey everyone - I took today off from exercise (although I did walk to the library and back, a total of ~40min.) but I did really well at work today! Even though I was hungry by the end of the day, which I always am before I get home for a pre-workout snack, I didn't give in to anything at work....it was like I wasn't even going to consider the sweets as an option. I have been drinking green tea as well with a little Equal to increase my water intake. Yum!!

As some people on 3FC say, failing to plan = planning to fail....so I am planning ahead for this weekend:

Thursday: Work out extra-hard because I won't have time on Friday (traveling 8hrs by car to a family reunion). Day 2 of C25k
Friday: Eat REALLY healthy today, since I can't get to the gym! I am anticipating being tempted by lots of delicious food, so I think that focusing on small portion sizes will be very important. Overeating will only make me feel gross & guilty which I do NOT want!
Saturday: Get up early to use the hotel gym...do Day 3 of C25k
Sunday: Exercise in the morning and keep watching my food intake.
Monday: Return home....I don't know if I'll be able to work out though.

Iris - hope you feel better! I get cramps too (in my back) and it sucks because I need to start taking Advil 2 or so days in advance in order for the pain to go away Exercise loosens up your muscles and eases the pain though, so if you work out you will probably feel better!! Even something low-key is better than nothing.

Chiquitaberlinda - It's so frustrating when we feel we are doing EVERYTHING right, yet we obtain unwanted results....I'm SO happy though that you aren't giving up just because of the number on the scale! The truth is that there could be 100 different reasons why you "gained" 3lbs. One possibility is that you are retaining water, or maybe it just has to do with the time you are weighing yourself. Personally, my weight fluctuates within a 4lb range in ONE given day! So don't be too discouraged - just keep doing what you are doing and I promise you will feel better off for it.

Spoz - it sounds like you need to take some time to rejuvenate yourself! I recommend this a lot, but it does work for many people: write down your goals - not just long-term, but short-term as well (short-term goals are what keep me on track), HOW you will achieve them, non-food rewards you can give yourself when you do get there, and what you will do if you get off-track. It might sound corny to say, but making mistakes makes you stronger and smarter in the end. If you analyze what made you fall into a "rut" in the first place, you are more likely to be able to avoid another one in the future. Are you stressed out lately? Do you think you might be treating your emotional self with food?

I know you can do this, and deep down you know it too - you just have to convince yourself. Tomorrow morning, when you wake up, tell yourself that it's a new day and you will be making GOOD choices for yourself. You deserve nothing less!!

Sorry for the essay guys, but I really do hope that all of you are successful in your WL journey....it's tough but we can do it!

hey everyone! today i woke up and did the cardio party turbo jam dvd for the first time! and i managed to get through the whole thing without stopping, even if it was a bit uncoordinated =) and i ordered a scale today too, so i can actually keep track of my progress (it's by taylor and it comes with a bonus "the biggest loser" workout dvd)

i think fitday is one of my new favorite websites. i love that it keeps track of the nutrients you should be getting, which has made me aware that i need to get more calcium, vitamin d, and vitamin k. which is really handy to know!

i hope all of you are having a good week and are staying on track. just remember it'll all be worth it in the end when your skinny jeans become your normal jeans!

Well done both ashley and Kimberly, it sounds like you're both doing incredibly well!

Kimberly I know I'm an emotional eater and I'm trying to just be able to 'feel' without masking my feelings with the food. I guess the good thing is I'm eating a scary amount of calories but not actually gaining, so perhaps I'll just be maintaining for a while.

I also think I'm going to stop worrying about calorie for a while and totally concentrate on becoming healthy again and as you said rejuvenate. Thankyou for the support guys And welcome to the newbies

Hi everyone!
I just had a moment of weakness at the mall. I had just come off a 9 hour shift at work and went straight to the gym... sorta. My gym is in the mall and when I got there I was STARVING. My brain decided to stop working and I walked down to the cinnamon bun shop and bought myself a mini cinnamon bun with icing, justifying it by just getting the "mini" even though the cashier insisted I go for the regular for only 80 cents more. After eating this I felt awful, even though it really was delicious. I immediately went to the gym and ran for 30 mins on the treadmill burning 200 calories. I hate food cravings, just wanted to vent. Oh, and on another note.. I am gaining weight!!! I was down to 149 a couple days ago and then this morning my scale reads 152. grrrr.... aside from the occasional screw up (cinnamon bun) I have been eating great. Check out the fitday link and let me know if you see where I am going wrong. I am SO frustrated right now

Can I jump in here... I never knew this thread existed... but then again I left for a short while, but am back again!!!! Ready and Willing... to shed the weight ---- OFF!!!!

Hm, what to mention...
I go to the gym 4 days a week... do plenty of upper and lower and some tread mill/cardio. I eat pretty healthy... I lug my jug of water around and drink, drink, drink it all day too.
I f any one knows of a simple/beginners calorie counter (or of that sort) site lead me to it... I am stuck in a Major Plateau ... and I want off.

PearFreak- I know a lot of 3FCers use The Daily Plate and/or FitDay to track their calories and activity levels. Check them out!

Time2shine85 - Your diet looks pretty clean to me as well - maybe you can try switching up the exercise routine If you keep your body guessing, you are more likely to lose weight. You mentioned that you went on the treadmill at the gym; have you tried other activities like swimming, cycling, pilates, yoga, dance, rowing, etc.? It's possible that you are stuck in a WL rut/plateau because the activities that used to surprise your body are "old news" by now. Do something fun to get your heart rate up!

Well, this is probably goodbye for me until Monday or Tuesday since I don't know if I'll have internet access while I'm traveling. Good luck to everyone over the weekend!

hey everyone! thanks for being so welcoming!

got an email from amazon saying my scale shipped already! i just ordered it yesterday, and the expected delivery date is tomorrow! i can't wait to actually track my progress instead of just counting calories and working out every day. hopefully it's paid off a little already =)

today my calorie count came to 1160, and that includes the two 'screw-ups' i had today with eating a hot dog for lunch and chicken nuggets for dinner. (we really need better food in this house)

i saw on fitday that ive been consuming wayyyy too much sodium without even realizing. i LOVE salty foods, but i really need to cut back. 3000+mg per day is not good for weightloss or heart health. today i drank about 60 oz of water, which is much more than i usually drink. i hope to eventually up it to about 80 oz per day after a while

hope you all had a good day! and even though i'm new also, welcome to the board pear!

kitegirl24 (Kimberly)- I think you're right, I use to work out with a trainer who had me doing alot of varied workouts. I wasn't losing weight then either, but I could feel my body was leaning (pants fit looser). There are alot of workout classes at my gym, I might start going to them more often.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I am finally down to 1.8lbs gained! I am taking a day off today because I've been working out for over a week straight and yesterday I did my 30 day shred dvd with 10lb weights until I couldn't do it anymore and switched to 5 lb weights. I am really sore, so I will do something, just not that dvd.

Loveliam, I am trying to eat less that 1500 calories a day, I try to stay as close to 1200 as possible.

Time2shine85, I hate when you eat something and then feel guilty and gross. And yet, it happens again eventually. Good job on going to the gym!

mercermom, I'd also love the recipe for squash patties. I'm a vegetarian and always trying to find new veggie recipes.

Whoever posted the recipe for fruit pizza- sounds awesome I will definitely try it!

hey everyone! my scale arrived in the mail today after ordering it only 2 days ago and using amazon's free shipping! at first i got an error, but after a few more tries it gave me my reading. i'm just about to pop in the bonus dvd and see how long it is and what it includes.

ive done pretty well today. my grandma was on my back about trying to eat healthier and less crap and thusly made me eat some stuff that i didn't want to, but i managed to keep it to just a few bites!

i weighed in about 5 minutes ago at 139.2, and i stepped on and off the scale about 5 times to make sure this was actually the reading. that means ive lost almost 2 pounds in about a week...right on track!

hope everyone is doing well. have a nice weekend! and have fun at the family reunion kitegirl24!

The body fat scales really don't work well (for me at least). I registered 46% body fat on one and 41% on another at my clients' houses. I have a lot of muscle for my height so the scale is misreading it as fat and I know this. I even found the readings funny as I wear a size 6-8.

If you are relatively new to dieting the readings on one of these scales might scare the daylights out of you and make you feel a lot fatter than you really are. That can be really depressing and lead to overeeating etc.
