Question Is binge weight "real' weight?

Welcome back everyone we haven't heard from in awhile . It sounds like we will all be getting back on track in January . I think I'm going to amend my ticker and be content with 130 - 132 maintenance for the holidays.

Has anyone noticed that, after binge eating and gaining 2-3 lbs all at once, it's so much easier to drop that weight? I think the body just can't use or store that many calories eaten so quickly so it just gets rid of them somehow. I think, in my case, I'm peeing them out . Not an easy thing with 4 layers of clothes on.

Barbara Hope your knee heals quickly . But you're in terrific shape because the exercises the doctor gave you are "so easy".

Exercise is wonderful! It can be tedious, painful, and it's never ending, but think how much better we all feel when we're in shape. I looked at the people on Biggest Loser (what a weird title) and, even though they all were still very heavy, they all had such confidence and a renewed interest in their lives.

Oops - cat fight gotta go

Barbara - didn't clarify the margarine; just used it as is. Both recipes combined came to 222 calories. Amazing, huh?

Jane~what schools did your DS apply to? All in state or out or both? DD has been accepted to 3 of the 6 she's applied to (still hoping she'll get into USC).

Dagmar~but Labs are the greatest dogs ever!!!

Everyone~we all need to stick to our guns! We're all complaining of either a gain or no loss or something. We have to just stop it and get back on the wagon. Ok, here I am talking, yet I can't seem to do it myself.

Good news, though, I put a big pot of black bean soup on in the crockpot this morning, so we'll have a great healthy dinner. But I don't even want to tell you what I had for breakfast....so embarrassing!

Hello everyone

It's good to see some old friends popping in. I haven't been popping in very much lately myself (although I've been lurking). I too, have put on the weight recently. I got on the scales this morning and I was at 150 lbs. That is the highest I have been in a long time and it is also the highest I intend to go. This is not good

It's my fault as I'm the one who keeps telling myself to eat what ever I want for "just one more day" and then I'll get back on track. Well I think I have had too many "one more day(s)". Today it's time to get back on track! Sounds like a few of us will have some work to do in the new year

I'm at work so I need to cut this short. Hope everyone is doing well and I'll pop back in later.

Have a great day!

I actually have been thinking since this morning about black bean soup and was planning on making it tonight... funny that you're doing the same, Allison!

Thumbs up Truer words were never spoken abbyin

I'm using the excuse that I'm working every night and having to do all of the Christmas stuff and house stuff because DH is studying for his exam.

Bought another fruitcake on the way home from work last night. Can't begin to describe how sick I feel today. And I have to walk from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today and then do another walk and two cat feeds in the evening. It's a long enough day without feeling like I'm going to

I'm not booking any extra night stuff next week as my Christmas dogsit starts next Wed. night. I have to stop sulking today. No more Christmas treats until Christmas!!!

I used one humongous (really, about the size of two) chicken breasts for the whole recipe, so it worked out to 1/2 breast in each serving.

Ok! I didn't actually make it in here 2 days in a row but that is my GOAL!

Allison-the only out of state school he applied to is Arizona State. He really wants to go to SDSU but I think that is more because he has friends there than any other reason! He applied to UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside (where my other sons went) and some other Cal State Schools.

Well, I ate like an idiot yesterday. (Yesterday was my birthday and today is my son's 17th so we went out just last night because I didn't want to go out both nights and surprise, surprise my son has other plans tonight). I guess I didn't go as hog wild as I could have but I didn't really keep it in check either.
One good thing though is that I really have learned to like the foods I eat on a more regular basis and I feel so much better when I eat those. I can't believe the way I used to eat

I am going to make my son some cookies and cupcakes today but I'm not really worried about those.

Hope everyone has a great day. Jane

Happy belated birthday Jane!

I did Ok yesterday until I got into some popcorn after work. I'll go estimate the damage in a few minutes here.

Happy Belated Birthday Jane and Happy Birthday to your son!!!

How funny, my DD just turned 17 2 weeks ago AND she also applied to ASU. I think she'll be going to the University of Redlands, though. USC is her "dream" school and she's pretty sure she won't get into it--her grades just aren't good enough.

Okay, my black bean soup was wonderful! I think I added more ham than it needed, but I had to get rid of the leftovers. Having it all in the crockpot all day sure made the ham tender and added so much flavor. I still need a different recipe though. Has anyone ever had the black bean soup at Chili's? It is so yummy.

"just one more day"~wow. I need to stop that, too! I must get back on the wagon. I keep thinking it's the holidays that are doing it to me BUT--think about it--there's no holiday TODAY! I have to quite celebrating!!!

Hope everyone is doing well (better than I am!)

I'm glad Dagmar quoted Abby -- I am 100% guilty of "I'll keep eating what I want and not exercising... I can start losing tomorrow (next week, after Christmas, etc). Meanwhile the pounds are creeping up, I am very SOFT and mushy, and I feel crappy. It was good for me to read that and have it directly pointed out to me!

Good evening ladies!

Well I had a good day yesterday but today wasn't good at all. I wasn't saying that "one more day" thing, I just have so much to do to get ready for Christmas that I seem to be short changing myself of good food. I keep trying to finish my shopping on my lunch hour (which I pretty much did today) but then I ran through the fast food drive-thru on my way back to work. Bad, Bad, Bad

My daughter is coming home for Christmas next week. She and her husband live in Florida and I havn't seen her in 2 years. I'm so excited to see her and I just want everything to be perfect . My son lives here in Indy, so I see him all the time and we celebrate Christmas together every year but this year (next Friday evening in fact) is special since it's the first Christmas in many years that both my children will be at the house together to celebrate Christmas. I can't wait, but I'm working myself to death and I am way over my gift budget .

After our get together next Friday, DH and I leave for Wisconsin on Sunday to spend Christmas with his family. I'm a stressed mess .

Anyway, I will do better on my food choices tomorrow, I promise.

Ilene - Good to see your getting back on track quickly. You go girl!

Hope everyone else is doing well (or the best we can right now). Hang in there - these holidays will be over soon (I hope).
