What body type are you?
Which body type are you and I would really LOVE to hear 1 thing you like about your body type and 1 thing you don't.
Are you the: Apple: Prone to getting 'the' stomach, but legs and arms are not so much of a problem. Pear: Heaviest around the butt and thigh-section. You feel like you lose weight from the top down. Hourglass: You know the type, gets a butt and a bust but the stomach and thighs seem to be untouched. When striving for an image in your head, we all must remember we can only do what our bodies are built to do, and appreciating what you have goes a long way! It sure has helped me with my self-image! |
I'm a watermelon, I guess - I gain all over!! :joker:
But I am very long-bodied, and long-legged, thus I hope to look like a supermodel when I am slimmer! ;) Heather :D |
I agree...i gain it all over...especially in my face....but i do have to say...i DO have the PERFECT 10 body.....lol....ive just kept it wrapped up my whole life so that it didnt get scratched.......but....i figure since im older and a bit more careful....its time to let that hot body out!!! WOOOHOOO!!!:carrot:
|
I never have given this much thought really...I tend to gain weight all over too but because I have super broad shoulders for my size I get away with a lot more weight on my hips....I think that's where I gain first....oh there and my face...
|
I'm pear-shaped. I'm heaviest around my butt and thighs. That's the first area where I gain weight and the last area where I lose weight. When I was at my goal weight my upper body didn't look a whole lot different than it does now, but my lower body was a lot smaller.
When I gained weight I think the last places I gained were my arms & face. |
I'm somewhere between an hourglass and a pear. I'm not as bottom heavy as a pear, but I do gain in the stomach area (as well as everywhere else!). I tend to look "thick" rather than fat when I've gained weight.
|
I'm an apple, but I show in my face first (big time puffer fish face)
I like my lower legs and toes right now and that's about it. |
Well...its strange. I USED to be bigger on top than on the bottom (I have a big chest), with a bit of a belly. I had teeny tiny hips and butt. I gained 35 pounds, and was pretty much even all over...now that I'm losing weight again, I seem to be losing it from my upper body first...so right now my hips/butt/belly are big, and my upper areas are nice! Sadly, I'm not sure I'm ever going to have the teeny tiny hips back...I think that has changed for good.
|
I gain all over. My belly gets huge very easily and is still quite big even.. but my legs are also huge... as are my arms and face, etc. Guess that makes me a watermelon too....LOL.
|
We have discovered a new genetic shape! Lol!
I'd like to hear more about what you guys like about your particular build, get some positivity going! There's always some silver lining! :) |

 My 10 is a bit dented here and there. I'm a pear - always have been. Although since menopause set in I've developed a little pot belly and my bust is bigger - BONUS! (who knew?). I am losing all over now it seems, one ounce at a time so it's a little hard to tell where it's coming off (although my lips do seem a tad slimmer ;) ) Dagmar :dizzy: |
I guess I qualify as an apple.
But when the weight is really out of control I tend to get chubby knees and cellulite on the back of my arms....eeeww! Most of my weight is carried in my belly - aka the storage locker. |
What do I like about my body? Hmm, well I build muscle quite easily, and have very muscular legs. I like that a lot :)
|
I'm an apple. Even now at goal range, I have a little belly, but it's much smaller than it was. The up-side is that my boobs are large and I have lean, musular thighs.
|
I am the definition of a pear. With my weightloss I look very slim in my upper body but my hips and thighs are still huge. Back 10 years ago when I weighed around 125lbs or so, I still felt I was fat coz my hips were huge.
I like the curve of my waist. It makes me look slim. |
I'm like Allison: a cross between an hourglass and a pear.
I think I've got a nice upper body, if I may say so myself. My triceps and shoulders are really strong, my back is gaining definition, and I can see a "4-pack" of abs (the remaining 2 are still covered by pooch fat). My least favorite body part is my butt, from which fat refuses to budge. Kim |
I'm a pearple, which is a cross between a pear and an apple. I have always been heavier on my bottom half, but I also have a (now little, used to be big) pot belly that I just cannot get rid of and some upper ab fat as well. At one point I was wearing bottoms that were two or three sizes larger than my tops. Now at least my bottom is only one size (maybe even only half a size) larger than my top. Interestingly, I have lost more inches in my hips than my waist.
What do I like about my body shape? I like the fact that my hips help make my waist look smaller and I love the way the curve between my waist and my hips feels. I touch it all the time. I frequently stand with arms akimbo just so I can feel that curve. I also love my feet (especially when they are pedicured), ankles, and wrists. |
I really don't know. I could drop a plumb bob from the tip of my shoulder and it would touch my hip and there is a waist dip in the middle. But I lost weight from the top down and still have a pouchy belly and strong thighs. No skinny jeans for me.
My best explanation is that I'm an hour glass but I'm also over 40 ;) I'm short but well proportioned and don't usually have to buy different sizes for up or down. I guess I like my torso best. I have a narrow rib cage and enough room between my boobs and hips to look slim. |
i am an hourglass.

Well based on latest measurements (taken 2 weeks ago, COULD have changed I guess but am too traumatised to check lol, HATE tape measure) I'm 34E-27-33.5 so that actually makes me very hourglass? But my um derriere is what even I'd call SMALL..I am not bootylicious at all ;) but technically im an hourglass I guess.

I'm probably an hourglass even though I need to lose weight in my lower stomach and work on my inner thighs
What do I like most, probably the fact that since I lost about 35lbs (my biggest was 170) my stomach is flatter and has more muscle tone. And I still have my curves. |
I'm a cross between an hourglass and an apple, I guess? I always have big hips and big breasts, but when I'm big my legs tend to stay pretty nice, even as my hips expand proportionally to my belly/boobs. At goal I'm a definite hourglass, 36/27/37. Still, while my actual waist is nice, the one place I'd still like to slim is my lower belly, still have a bit of a pouch. Of course, I'm up about 8 pounds from my technical goal, but its where my body likes to be and I'm comfortable there.
|
Hmm I'm an hourglass, because I don't gain weight in my stomach, and my thighs pretty much stay the same size ...and when I gain weight I just look thick, like someone blew air into me like a balloon. haha.... it's time to deflate the balloon!
and about one thing I like and one thing I hate.... I like my waist, because i dont have to pay attention to it, but i hate my thighs. I have small hips and muscular thighs (covered in fat) and so i dont fit into pants!!! |
Definitely an hourglass... although more weight seems to end up on my butt than anywhere else.
I like my upper body a lot... but I wish that I could just suck all the fat from my butt and inner thighs! |
I'm another one of the hourglass pears because I have a small waist but I'm not exactly small on top like a pear but my hips/butt/thighs are bigger in comparison (measurements: 34D 27 41). I guees I'm a bottom heavy hourglass. I actually like having a big butt though because it's strong big not fat big and suprisingly I get a lot of compliments at the gym from women who like my butt, a little odd but flattering. Not the biggest fan of my thighs though, still a little too flabby for me.
|
I used to be 34-26-36...now I'm about 38-36-40. Total apple! I have major pear-envy.
|
I would say I am a cross between a pear and an apple. I gain weight in the middle but my arms are not very large. Conversely I tend to gain weight in my inner thighs. I am 6' tall so I can get away with extras. I would love it if I could be thin but keep my boobs. Think Tyra Banks. Sadly, the girls seem to be slip slidding away with the weight.
The one or should I say four, great things about my body are my extemities. My arms are thin so they have great definition and my legs are very long and quite toned from running regulary. |
I think am a hourglass of maybe a pear i have big thighs.
|
Definitely a pear shape here :)
At the moment I'm about 33.5" on top, 25" waist and 37" hips I've always been happy with having a defined waist but accepting my erm...generous...hips and muscular thighs definitely took a lot lot longer! |
I always love the look of wide hips on women - wide hip with significantly smaller waists.
I'm around 34C-31-39. I'm fairy pearish, I guess, and don't feel too boxy. I do, however, have distinct potbelly. Any weight I gain goes mostly there into my thighs, and then a bit in my breasts. I am conerned about losing them with weight loss, but I figure I'll see later where I want to draw the line. During my teams, I developped the girls at a time when I was stressed and gaining a lot of weight. |
I am definitely an apple. Even when I weighed 110 lbs I had no waist and a little pooch.
I have nice legs, and slender hands and feet. Legs and arms are the last to gain. This time I gained enough to have fat upper arms. Yuck. This was the first place to loose, too. I have never gained enough to have fat legs. Let's hope I don't. |
Pear! I carry all of my weight in my thighs. It drives me crazy! I sometimes have to go up a size in jeans to fit my thighs and then they're too big everywhere else.
|
I have hourglass measurements but a pot belly that refuses to die. I guess that makes me an apple-hourglass medley.
|
I'm a proud hourglass---I generally gain weight evenly over my body, so even when I am heavier, I think I carry weight well. I have long, slender limbs, and curvy hips and chest. Excess fat tends to stick most to my belly and inner thighs, but like I said, is generally well-distributed. The times I think I look bad is if I overeat for a few days straight--then the excess fat in my bottom half is noticeable. |
Fat distribution-wise I'm probably a pear, but I've got quite broad shoulders so I do a passable imitation of an hourglass. :D
|
My left ear-lobe is okay. Right isn't too bad either.
I started out as an hourglass verging to pear -- but as I aged -- and especially in the 16 or so years since I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, I have definitely turned into an apple. Even if I ever get down to where I'd class myself as a 'featherweight', I imagine I'll still be an apple. |
I'm an apple shape :barf: I WISH I was an hourglass or pear.
Since losing weight, I've become a little more of an hourglass, considering I *do* have T&A. The stomach has just always been my biggest trouble spot... especially the love handles. Maybe I'm an appleglass. |
I am a top heavy apple. I call myself an ice cream cone. I gain all weight in my boobs and waist. My butt and hips are like way smaller than my belly, so no matter what kind of pants I wear, I have a muffin top, and my pants will randomly fall off if I am not careful, even when wearing a belt. See me running and I have a hand on my waist band! :). Even when I was thinner, I was still quite top heavy. A couple of years ago, before I gained all this weight, I was a 36 DD, but now it is just ridiculous. I am a 42 E or F in the chest. Can't wait until I can afford a breast lift and reduction. My mom got one a few years ago, I am so jealous! One thing I like about my body is my legs have always been well shaped and muscular. I guess from carrying my top half around for all these years! But I am about ready to invest in some suspenders for my pants and underwear so they stop falling down ;).
|
Ice cream cone! Yeeeeah! That's me, too!
