I am a pear. My butt and thighs no doubt are the biggest. It is hard finding a good fitting pair of jeans because once I get them over my thighs and butt the waist is too big. It is very frustrating.

scorpio88 07-07-2008 01:35 PM

Pear without a doubt! My bottom and thighs are huge, I've been told before I look more like 200lb then 140 because of my lower half. :( My waist is relatively small (26), and I have small boobs, but the lower half of me (39 hips) hate me!

trailgroomer 07-07-2008 02:44 PM

pear to losing the waist

:flow1: I am a pear - I read that the apple/ pear /hourglass shapes have been joined by spoon, rectangle and triangle shapes

positive thing: calves

I read that the two diets to follow for weight loss are

Apples
Lower carbohydrate diet (avoiding processed and 'white' carbs).
Pears
Lower fat diet (avoiding full fat foods; cheeses, butter).

I agree the waist band thing is AWFULLY frustrating - a belt does not help at all and taking in the waist bands takes finesse' with sewing that I don't have!

Wow, I'm also 5'7", 174#, and my waist is 32.75" and hips 44". I don't know how anyone could think you look like 200# with 26 and 39" waist and hips.

frieden 07-07-2008 03:42 PM

I think, an hourglass. All my weight is in my upper arms, breasts, thighs and backside. My waist, sides, lower legs and lower arms are small. It drives me insane because nothing fits right. Sometimes I think I look like I've been put together from a box of spare parts from a larger person and smaller person.:)

To choose a positive thing, my calves are nice, and my abs are getting more definition.

MaggieP 07-07-2008 07:16 PM

This is my 1st post! I'm definately an APPLE. Even at my goal weight I never had a waist. No hips or butt either though:(

Legs and bust are just right when my weight is right;)

hi wanderlusting! i just tried to send you a PM but i can't yet because i don't have 10 posts. my measurements are very similar to yours (36-29-38, 141 lbs, 5'5, goal weight is 120) and was wondering if you were looking for a weight loss buddy?

don't feel obligated to say yes, my feelings won't be hurt. i understand that some people like to do things more independently. but let me know if youre interested! :-)

I think I look about 165-170 maybe, when I was told 200 I wanted to kill them! It's without a doubt the thighs/butt area-which is funny because I can fit into a size 6/7 pants, I think I just look..unproportionate (is that a word? ;)) to the rest of my body.

Hmm, I didn't know that low fat diets were good for pears...it seems as if my body reacts best to low carb diets!

sm177 07-08-2008 04:47 PM

i'd say an apple. I gain mostly in my stomach, arms and face

Elliekaat 05-01-2009 10:16 PM

I tend to be an apple; my tummy and back take the hardest hit. My legs always stay super thin and my arms gain a little. I started my weight loss almost 4 months ago and I'm nearly there! Now I'm an hour glass! I LOVE my legs and so far I'm still disliking my back chub lol However I never realized that I had so little to go, being that I am more of a Mesomorph as opposed to endo/exomorph. I packed on muscle and lost fat rapidly.

Elliekaat 05-01-2009 10:22 PM

Yeah! I found low carb diets work the fastest for weight loss.

MadameZombie 05-02-2009 12:03 AM

Hourglass... I'm Puerto Rican!

Lori259 05-02-2009 12:54 AM

Ummm~I have been told I am an hourglass shape since I started losing .
But I am not sure.I know I am not a pear And always thought apple didn't quite go with me either.
Maybe you can start a thread and have people place photos so we can guess? Or see? Or decide? If you do let me know!!!!!!
I would be interested in knowing & would post a full body photo to see.

mizmizzy 05-02-2009 12:43 PM

Apple - the worst!

iris 05-03-2009 07:48 PM

I'm rather invertedly triangular in shape. An upside-down pear, if you will. I have big boobs and way too much backfat. My shoulders aren't hugely broad but they're a bit wider than my hips. My upper arms are chubby. My butt is totally flat.

I wish I had curvier hips!

SarahBEE 05-03-2009 10:58 PM

Pear shape, for sure - don't have the slightest idea where the hips came from, but they're way curvier than anyone else's in my family, lol!

Don't mind it too much - I like my curvy hips. Need to work on the thighs a bit though, and wish there was something I could do to make my "upper curves" match my lower ones a little better, if you know what I mean. ;)

linniet 05-04-2009 08:01 AM

inverted triangle. Even when I am thin my upper body is 2 sizes bigger than my bottom. Added to that is a short upper body so I have to dress very carefully.

but I do like my long(ish) legs!!

ling 05-05-2009 12:15 AM

I guess I am an "H" , just straight!:D I am 5'3" and measures 34, 26.5, 35.

I love swimming and have a swimmer kind of body, my shoulders are even slightly wider than my hips. I can fit into a pair of size 2 skinny Jeans but my top is usually a size 4.

When I gain weight, my waist and my face show first, then my upper arms, my thighs seem to be the last.

I have short arms, and they look thick, my worst part, the next worst is my waistline, I just don't have the tiny waist partly because my narrow hips.

Tryingtostayskinny 05-20-2009 04:46 PM

I am between an apple and hourglass. I have bigger boobs so I think that makes me look more "hourglass" like.

piggytippy 05-25-2009 03:00 AM

I'm an hourglass. round hips, huge boobs ... but I have a small waist, and my tummy stays pretty flat. I guess I should be glad for that.

I HATE my boobs though-- 34DD. HATE them. I'm only 5'3", size 6, and I feel like my boobs totally make me look heavier--even though I have hips to balance them out. I feel like 34DD boobs at 5'3" is pretty ridiculous! Often I feel like guys are just staring at my chest...

:D/ That is because they are. :D I know exactly what you mean, I'm also only 5'3", 139 lbs and a not so small 32G! I tend to wear roomy Tshirts and only end up looking heavy or pregnant!

piggytippy 05-26-2009 12:54 AM

Ah-- it is so so hard to dress when you're short and busty! I feel like if I wear tight shirts, people assume i am trying to be sexy, but all roomy t-shirts/sweatshirts (and all those flowey tops that are in style) just make me look heavier!!!! I guess we have an advantage when we're going to the beach and filling out a bikini, but dressing for every day life is hard!

The worst of both worlds? Pear butt and apple belly!!

Always solidly a pear. Totally small on top. Even when <120#, I had quite the butt (didn't appreciate it at the time, but probably it looked pretty good!!). But used to drive me crazy that my bust wasn't as big as my butt ...

The best part was that I always, always had a flat belly. Until a few years ago when it expanded alarmingly. I went for a massage and the therapist thought I was pregnant :?:

I don't have that much weight to lose, but I am somewhat mis-shapen. Just starting to get back on track with a long-term plan. I hope I will appreciate the pear shape this time if/when I get it back :)

Have any of you gone through the measurements at myshape.com? Someone recommended it to me to find jeans that actually fit. I came out an "A" there...

willgethealthy 06-08-2009 10:04 PM

I think I am some mystery fruit. I gain in my face, upper arms & thighs, thats it. Nothing in my stomach, bust or hips.

sws19 06-09-2009 10:38 AM

mystery fruit??!! lol!
i'm an apple trying to be an hourglass.
and i feel you ladies on the big boobs. i'm just shy of 5'4" and have been a solid D since 9th grade. i'm presently retreating from a 36DD/E and am now a 34/36 D/DD. it's absurd. i'm hoping to get back to a 34D when i'm at goal. i think trying for a C might be deluding myself. the clothing issue is such a problem. i even have trouble with bikinis. i feel like those really cute triangular string bikinis, like many clothes, look much better on someone with more modest breasticles.

misspiggy408 06-09-2009 07:21 PM

I'm a mix between an apple and a pear ... I have "junk in the trunk" like a pear, but have a "beer gut" like an apple ... LOL

1 thing I like about my body ... My legs - must have been all that ballet I did for 13 years :)

1 thing I dislike about my body ... my gut FOR SURE!! It has to be the ugliest gut on earth! It's a mix between a baby belly, a prego belly, and hanging curtains (loose skin) LOL

blondeblueeyedbeauty 06-10-2009 03:52 PM

I couldn't call myself an apple, pear or hourglass... I would say I'm a piece of pizza! Everything I eat stops after my lower stomach. Since I don't have wide hips, the love handles are hard to hide :(

rosekeet 06-10-2009 04:24 PM

I guess a pear... weight goes right to my thighs and butt. I think it's genetic though. My mom, aunt, and grandma are the same way. My grandma got in a serious car accident last year and lost a lot of weight in the hospital...and she still has big thighs. I can tell I'm losing when my watch starts getting looser.

I will say, hips are not a bad thing, and they are proportional to my chest. And I'd rather have some junk in the trunk than no butt at all! Also, the burmuda shorts and full skirts tat are in look good on curvier figures.

MrsLovett 07-05-2009 08:42 AM

What the heck am I? I'm a little confused. I have a big bust, no butt, a small waist, but big thighs... I'm weird!

MrsLovett

Moralia 07-06-2009 06:46 PM

I'm an hourglass... Just gotta get my hourglass a bit more shaped & defined is all!! lol!!!

Pnut Butter 07-17-2009 12:18 PM

ok im hourglassy but w.chunky arms and no boobs! how does this work?? lol :o

ANewCreation 07-17-2009 12:55 PM

I was always an hourglass regardless of my weight but once the forties hit I too became a watermelon. Big all over and a lot more weight in my belly.

One thing I love about my body--my breasts.

One thing I dislike about my body--my belly. The only good thing I have to say is that is one of the places the weight is most likely to start coming off first. After 3 babies and a hysterectomy it's never going back but it will get alot better in time! I can live with that!!!

UrthWurm 07-24-2009 03:07 PM

I'm a pear! I like pears, just not looking like one. D; I wish I was an hourglass, but if wishes were horses.. I guess I'd still be Vegan. ;) Like many others, the pear is hereditary in my family. I feel like I haven't lost a lot of weight because my hips/thighs/buns are still pretty large. xD I can definitely tell the difference though in my now slimmer face & abdomen.

Curvz0002 08-05-2009 08:17 PM

I am definitely a pear shape and I hate it!! My measurements are 36 in my bust, 29 in my waist, and 41 IN MY HIPS!! I absolutely hate it because it seems that no matter how much weight I lose, I still wear the same size pants!! I lose from my waist, bust, shoulders and everywhere other than my lower body!

Oasis 08-07-2009 10:37 PM

I gain and lose evenly. I don't think I'm really any one of those types but I'd say I'm closest to a pear.

SeventeenTheStar 08-14-2009 07:00 PM

I'm probably an hourglass/apple. 38-29-39, but I have quite broad shoulders and it seems as though fat goes to my arms and thighs first... even when I lose weight in my tummy, those tend to look bigger.

ALO22 11-17-2009 05:10 PM

Urthwum -- wow! If you told me it's me on your profile picture, I'd believe it!

So, I guess I'm mostly a pear shape... the weight definitly goes to the butt and thighs. But I also have big boobs (34DD), so little bit of hour glass there...

What I like about my body? mmmm, boobs =D and legs below the upper thighs ^_^

CarbCrazy1181 11-18-2009 08:39 AM

Before I started putting on weight I was no shape at all...just a straight line! No butt, no boobs, no hips...nada! Although I have always had somewhat big muscular thighs from playing soccer. The weight first went to my belly, then my thighs (the muscle just turned to fat after quitting sports!), then my face. Everything else is still skinny. (except I got a breast augmentation too so I have some more up top now which helps to even out my thighs.) So really I have no idea what fruit I am!!

One thing I like, my buff arms.
One thing I hate, my lower belly pooch. I know it's from the beer lol.

bablou00 11-19-2009 01:42 AM

Definitely a pear shape. I have always had a big booty and thick ole thighs, but a small waist and small boobies. When I gain weight its usually everywhere but when I start to see weight in my belly I know Ive let myself go to far.
I luv my arms they are very muscular and I get a lot of compliments on them. My butt I luv when its all fit and firm. Since I dont have it up top Ive grown to luv the junk in the trunk:D

maenad 11-19-2009 07:22 AM

Apple

I have good sized hips and a butt, however i don't tend to gain weight in these areas. I gain all my weight around my middle. I have quite a belly and some love handles to go with it! My legs and arms have always been fairly thin.
