Question What popular food grosses you out?

Just for fun...
What food does everyone else seem to like that grosses you out?

For me, among other things, it's pizza, oreo cookies, and most anything chocolate.

sushi

I can eat a California roll, but most other sushi (and sashimi) turn my stomach. But they're pretty to look at!

I have never had sushi but was always intrigued by it. The thought of eating raw fish sounds so gross but why do so many people eat it?
As for popular foods, this isn't really unusual but I absulotely hate beans and they are in so many recipes. I just can't figure out how anyone can eat these LOL.

Wow girl81, I wish those foods grossed me out!!!

I am also on board with the sushi and I have actually tried it! I also don't like coffee so no fancy coffee drinks for me. That's probably good for my bank account

Tofu . . . and that's strange because I honestly like most of the meat substitutes made with TVP which is also a soy product . . . I think it's the texture and/or the look of it?

I don't know how popular these are, but pickeled eggs. My neighbor gave me one, he watched me as I ate it. Telling me how good they are and how he is a great cook. I couldn't even swallow it. It was in my mouth and I kept thinking what can I do, thinking if i swallow I might gag. Finally I ran outside and spit it out.

That is too funny! It reminds me of the big jar of pickled eggs behind the counter at a bar we used to frequent in college! I have actually eaten a pickled quail egg (much smaller) and it wasn't bad, but not something that I would choose to eat again.

I don't think it is the texture with me--its the raw fish and seaweed. The smell!

Ummm, I love beans! Its only Lima beans that I don't like--they're rather dry in my mind. I may have gotten this from my Mom--she never served them because she didn't like them.

I once had a regular coffee at Starbucks and it was so burned tasting that I couldn't drink it (even though I like coffee). For years after that I assumed that ALL their drinks were burned-tasting so I never had one of their lattes. Until one day a co-worker bought me one. Oops! I was hooked! But too many calories, so now I do what Amanda suggested--the cafe Americano. Very good (and no burned taste!).

I didn't think I'd like it either, but it is quite good. Weird looking, but good.

Oh I love pickled eggs! my mother makes them every Easter. I do think it is one of those foods that you either love or hate though.

I used to *hate* whipped cream, pie, and cheesecake. Never cared for ice cream, either. Sadly, I got over that.

Salmon, beans, onions, and rice really used to turn my stomach. I'm working VERY HARD to change that, and now enjoy salmon and beans, LOVE onions, and rice just isn't eaten much (I'm on SB so this is actually a GOOD thing).

I don't think there's much that I don't like now... not that's popular, anyway.

ok, it's a drink not a food. But at the natural/organic store I manage, we can't keep them in stock sometimes.... Have you ever seen Milennium Kombucha? ackkkkkkkk! I can't help but think of the phrase from when I was kid "Hock a Loogie". Sorry if that was to graphic
Also Dolmas- Stuffed grape leaves. Again, can't keep enough of them in the deli. After my boss made me try one I told her.... now I have to lie when people ask me how they are lmao.... I still just say I have never eaten them, but customers rave about them --& then let them make their own decision.
Without ever trying one, I can't even think of a pickled egg in my mouth...

Bananas and mushrooms. Ugh. I've hated bananas since I was a little kid and since I've been pregnant mushrooms make me puke.

Crab legs & Olives. Something about the texture of crab makes me gag and my stomach turn over. Olives I used to eat when I was a baby but now the taste is too much. Of course I eat them occasionally when I'm nannying to encourage the kids to eat their veggies and they love the faces I make (naturally) from the taste. Oh and I don't like fruity blender drinks - margaritas, smoothies, etc. When in Canada or Mexico I usually chase the fruity drinks with beer or a shot to get rid of the taste...

Coconut! I can handle highly spice curries or Thom Kah Gai (sp?) if the coconut milk is a good brand, but shreaded coconut makes me gag. It's the taste and texture. Yuck!

raw oysters! ICK ICK ICK!!! I can remember trying to eat one once and just sitting there with it in my mouth. I couldn't swallow it or chew it or anything. I ended up running to the bathroom to spit it out. BLECH! I also can't stand jell-o. I think it's the texture. Same thing with grits. I think I'm the only southern girl that hates grits.lol

I totally agree with the oreos though. Anything that leaves a greasy feeling on the roof of my mouth I can't stand. I think that's why I hate popcorn so much.

Dolmas, I love! I think they are an acquired taste though. My husband is middle Eastern and he never developed a taste for them even though they had them at weddings and such.
