I did so well! I only had 3oz. of turkey! No stuffing, gravy, potatoes,or anything bad, not even the slightest sliver of my favorite pie(pumpkin) YAHOO!
I made a chili without any meat or meay substitutes so that is what i'm having for dinner tomorrow night!
anyhow, off to bed soon, school tomorrow, going to be along day.
Till tomorrow...

Winnipeg, so glad to hear that you didn't stray too far! Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving! :)

Dweeb, I wouldn't weigh more than once a week. Doing so everyday can really stress you out, esp if you're weighing on a daily basis. Eating and drinking can add pounds, not to mention that if you're building muscle rather than fat, your numbers may increase in general. I'd weigh weekly, ideally at the same time (like once you get up in the morning so you have an empty stomach) and take notice of how clothes are fitting and try not to stress too much about the numbers.

Personally, I know I wouldn't want to weigh myself tonight! I ate so much today!

Menu:
B-1/2 cup oatmeal w/ 1/2 banana
S1-peach ginger smoothie
L-1/2 cup brown rice w/ 1 cup veggie chili
S2-1 cup grapes
D-1/4 cup brown rice w/ 1/2 cup veggie chili, 1 cup salad w/ balsamic vinegar, 1/4 cup braised radishes
S3-2 Phase 1 oatmeal cookies

I admit, I weigh myself every morning. But I don't count what I see as a gain or loss until my official weigh in, which is once a week. (water retention, fluctuations... all factor in) I don't think it is a good idea to do it everyday... but I do. :)

Good Morning, Fellow Smashers.

I guess I haven't posted in a while. Sorry about that. I've been doing well. I'm now down to 145 and very pleased. The weight isn't rushing off my body, but then again, it didn't rush on either. I guess I gotta consider that, don't I! I'm loving Phase 2. I'm probably going to stick with this phase longer than the 3 weeks! Its amazing what a bit of cheese, some Cheerios and a bit of chicken and some shrimp added to your diet can do to your attitude! I can't say enough good things about Smashing. This is one of the best food plans out there for me. It fits so well into my lifestyle!

I had my first official slip this past weekend. For those of you who read the boards, you won't be surprised that it was with my family back home. But I didn't "overdo" it. I had 2 small pieces of garlic bread. It tasted good, but not great. I felt kinda of blah after eating them too. It's not like I'm going to run out and eat more bread any time soon, because I just don't need bread. I'm totally OK with that! And the best part, I started right back up with my new "normal" eating habits right away the next day and haven't looked back. Wouldn't have been able to say that before!!!

Welcome to our new Smashers. Hope you find this plan suits you as much as I do me! Keep sharing - as it helps us all!

Hi everyone! Hope it's okay that I post here with all of you. I started Phase 1 on Saturday and things have been going great! I really thought I would struggle like I did with every other diet but this one seems so much easier for me. I did have a pretty bad headache until Sunday from not drinking any soda but after taking some Tylenol I felt alot better. I did give in and weigh myself yesterday and I lost 4 lbs.!! :carrot: That alone has motivated me even more to stick with this. Tonight I am going to get ear stapling done which is supposed to help stop cravings. Even though I don't have the cravings I figure I'll do it as a "just in case".

Well day 1 went great! I stayed OP with eating. I did 20 min in the treadmill, 15 min on the stationary bike, 15 min on the eliptical and swam for about 10 min. Today I'm OP so far and I did an hour long yoga class this morning. I plan on going back to the gym later and getting in some time on the machines. I was just so relaxed after yoga that i didn't want to ruin the feeling by getting on the machines.
Yesterday:
B: Fruit bowl
S: oatmeal
L:garden salad
S: 2 hard boiled egg whites
D: Baked spaghetti squash with crushed tomatos, mushrooms, green pepper and onions and milk to drink

Today
B: oatmeal
S: grapes, apple, and banana
L:beans and rice
S:small salad
D: same as last night (leftovers are a wonderful thing :D )

Well have a smahing day everyone. I'll check back later.

chicks 10-10-2006 12:55 PM

Yesterday went well, but today have the headaches again. I know it isn't the caffeine because I am still allowing myself one cup of coffee in the morning. I did it the last time on Phase one and still lost. But I realized then that the headache was from lack of sugar and carbs...ughh. I ate a bit more yesterday, but already today I am not hungry, so that is good. Gonna get going on the exercise tonight I hope. The first time I did phase one I didn't exercise for the first 10 days...and lost 8, but I guess I will do it this time. Wish I could kick the salt habit but I can't.

b=banana, 1/2 cup oj 1 cup regular coffee w/splenda
snack= oatmeal w/cinn and splenda
lunch= salad w/4 egg whites
snack=yogurt and apple
dinner=2 cups brown rice w/mushrooms and tomatoes, lima beans
snack=raspberry smoothie

Winnipeg, that's fantastic! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and I hope I do so well come November!

Yesterday I had a real test (on my first full day, too!) - when someone in our office has a birthday, I like to make them a cake to celebrate. Of course on my first day of fat smashing I had to produce a cake - and the person requested a chocolate truffle cake with whipped cream filling! I managed to make it with a minimum of tasting (sometimes I'd find my finger in my mouth before I knew what was happening), and once it was baked and assembled, I didn't have a taste. Yay me! It looked pretty good, too! :)

I also had a nice breakfast discovery - I'm not a big oatmeal fan, but this morning I mixed in sliced strawberries, cinammon, and just a drop of vanilla - the vanilla made it smell sweet and fooled me enough into (almost) enjoying the oatmeal! I'll have to try that again.

Have a great day! :cb:

Just popping in to say HI!! I'm still on track even if I did have that turkey yesterday! Hope you are all doing the same!
Rosario~ How are you doing, hun?

shae8230 10-10-2006 08:53 PM

Hi Everyone,

AuntieCiCi~ HI! Sorry to hear that you are having family issues again. I know it is hard when you don't have supportive people around you.

IowasAngel~ Hi and WELCOME!!! I am glad that you are doing well on the plan.

timmyshawn~ I agree that leftovers are a wondeful thing.

chicks~ I am using Mrs. Dash. It replaces salt for me.

Selkie~ That cake sounds yummy! Good job resisting it.

cbruce~ Your menu looks great to me. You are doing great. Just don't go over the listed limits and eat until you are satisfied. :)

Wide~ I am looking forward to turkey in November. You did really well.

I gotta go...

Sherry

Hi,
Well after 41 days I did finally "cheat." It is ok though. Even if I gain this week I will be ok because it was worth it. I am not going to fall off the wagon...I am still as determined as ever. Here's what happened: I had a great breakfast, morning snack, and lunch. But some of my dearest friends were meeting me after work at my house (not even at a restaurant where one might expect it to be hard). I had prepared some things last night (stuffed peppers, totally Phase 1 actually) and then this wonderful pumpkin based pasta sauce with penne(whole wheat and ok for Phase 3 which I'm on) but in the sauce was some light cream (just a little) and some sausage (probably not ok) and that isn't so bad, but I ate too much.. till I had the "uh oh... full... too much" feeling. It was so good though and my friends LOVED it and I felt so good because I never cook and they LOVED it and I loved it. That was a quantity cheat, but the real cheat was the wine. I had about 2 glasses of wine which I wasn't going to have but I did. (and it was good too) and the worst thing was that my friend brought these macaroons.... chocolate covered. I resisted for so long but then they talked about how good they were and I had one.... and then I had another! :) So, two macaroons probably not on the plan. Oh yeah, and there was the cranberry crunchies... not bad except the sweetened condensed milk. So I don't think it was the worst kind of cheating I could have done. I overindulged. I had wine and macaroons. But I had the most fun and was proud of my culinary skills. I will get right back on the wagon now. I will accept what happens on the scale but maybe by Saturday it will be fine.

Sorry to write so much. I figured if I poured it out here I can get it all out of my system and be right back on it tomorrow.

hello to all... welcome to new friends!

:) :) :)

I'm so excited to hear about everyone's success. I got one more day on phase one but have lost 7 pounds already. My neighbor could notice it in my obliques already. I feel great and am looking foreward to adding a few new things, but not all listed, in phase two. I started my fitday journal and realized I am eating under 1800 calories everyday, which is how much I need in order to lose weight. (I calculated it based on height last year). So keep active everyone! It works, even if its only a couple of pounds!

mellybelly 10-10-2006 11:58 PM

Hope everyone is doing well! I'm glad to hear that even if people are "cheating," they are finding it easy to get back on plan and don't feel as though the plan is completely wrecked. Great job everyone! :)

I stayed on plan today though I was eyeing the Halloween candy my parents have already started to stockpile. I generally don't eat chocolate bars or anything like that but when they're in the house they can be tempting. (Come on! Reese's and Heath bars and 3 Muskateers?? Are they trying to sabatoge me!?) I've found that those P1 oatmeal "cookies" and fruit do pretty well to satisfy a craving for sweets, even more so if I make a smoothie b/c it tends to fill me.

I hope all the new smashers are enjoying the plan, and the results!

Menu:
B-1/2 cup oatmeal w/ blueberries and 1/2 a banana
S1-apple
L-1/2 cup veggie chili and 1/4 cup braised radishes
S2-1/2 cup plain yogurt w/ blueberries and 1/2 a banana
D-1 cup salad w/ 8 sprays dressing (love those new wishbone spritzers, each spray is just 1 calorie!), 1/2 cup brown rice w/ mushrooms, onion, garlic and spinach mixed in (bout 1/2 cup veggies total)
S3-Smoothie(frozen raspberries, a fresh nectarine, ice, 1/2 cup NF vanilla yogurt, 1/2 cup NF milk, and a splash of vanilla extract
