I posted a question about whether or not Brown Rice pasta would be
allowed thru phase I and II about a week ago. the ingredients are
Brown rice and water. I e-mailed Dr. Ian and he got back to me. He
says no to the Brown Rice pasta until phase III.
Tomorrow I start Phase 2. I am down about 9 lbs I think (yes I cheated & weighed in a few times, but it was actually a good motivator for me). I am actually worried about phase 2-how stupid does that sound? I am afraid if I allow myself to eat the things I have been craving during Phase 1 (chicken, cereals, etc.) that the weight will stop coming off!!!!! I know I just have to stick as closely to Phase 1 as possible, & kick up the physical activity, and I will be fine-but for some weird reason I don't want to let Phase 1 go!!!!!!!!!! Anyone else have these same kinds of fears???

LMAO! It WOULD be great if it was just a "brand" thing! I may try getting the diet cans and allowing myself 1 or 2 a day in the beginning. As for the calories-there are days when theres nothing really "good" to eat at the house or I may not want to have to go town because we live out in the sticks, where I can get by on nothing but the Pepsi. Great liquid diet huh?!
Ive tried different brands and supposedly our well water is the best according to everyone around here who likes water but it doesnt do zip for me.
I think just coming here every day will be good motivation for me to stick with the diet! Thank You!
Good Morning Jaimie, Girl you can do it!! Just hang in there!! It it will get \
easier the more you are on the program. Im not kidding when i say the cravings
will go away. I was a diet drink nut!! Since i started this program have had nota!! hew! I dont even miss them. NOt saying I will never have one. Just
not wanting them all the time like i did. For right now just dont want them.
good luck on your journey , just remember to stay focused on what you
want and go for it!! the mind is a powerful thing, after all it all starts in the mind. Have a great day and hope to see more of you.
Welcome to a new week, fat smashers! I hope everyone has had a nice holiday weekend. Few things taste better than vegetables cooked outside on the grill, so we're in luck Plus we can make rice salad instead of potato salad, and enjoy plenty of strawberries or watermelon for desssert! Yummy
What are your plans this week? What phase are you on? Any tips to share?
Good Morning, Hope you had a great holiday. Iam on phase 2 and loving it!!
it is such a easy program! I love grilled veggies too! I use my GF grill alot!
How did you make your rice salad? I am sure this is not a new tip!! but i love
frozen grapes!! they are so good! Iate the wwrice pasta!! Then i saw a
post on not to have it until phase 3 . oh well to late to turn back now. I guess
Dr Ian was counting it as pasta!! realy enjoyed it thought. Have agreat
day and stay strong. You can do it!!
Hi my wife and I started the fat smash diet on august 30th. We are on day 6 and I feel your soda pain. Unlike you I love Coke. It is or shall I say my drug. I didn't drink alcohol but I did drink lots of Coke. I was drinking anywhere from 6 to 8 cans a day. To me that was the most dreaded part of the diet because I can drink water but it's not the same as a cold can of Coke. I'm now 6 days free of soda and I can't wait for Phase 2 to drink diet coke. I heard that Diet Dr. Pepper tastes good and that is what I'm going to try. Don't give up and don't think about it. Take excedrin if you get the caffeine head aches because it has a bit of caffeine in it. I'm not getting the headaches as bad anymore and I'm so happy to be able to not drink so much soda. I know that was one of my big weight problems. The fat smash diet has shown me that I don't need it. I feel good doing this diet. You can do it. Good Luck.
Good morning, Those headache were bad !! MIne lasted for three days. Iwas
a diet coke junkie!! i guess you could say too!! Iam ok, now. I hope your
will pass also. Congrats on working the program. It is so nice to have your
mate to be your cheerleader and you her. Have a nice day and hang in there.
I am nearing the end of my 5th day. I feel really good. I do have to go to work tomorrow and that will be my first day working while doing this. So we'll see how that goes. I think it might be a challenge. But planning will be the key. Suzanne, I like what you said in the "You're not a Fat Smasher until..." thread. I think it is very important to read and reread the plan because you might think you have the basic thing down and even your own personal 'tweaks' but then you forget what else is in there. It helps me to reread even just to keep motivated. I am on track with the 5 days of recommended exercise and also the water. I hate drinking water too... but everytime I start a diet, I force myself to do it. After awhile... weeks or even a couple of months, I do come to like it. I don't LOVE it, but I end up willingly drinking it and not forcing myself to. My body starts asking for it. I love Pepsi but I was not as big a Pepsi drinker as you, Jaimie, so I can't say how I would cope with that. I think slowly cutting down would be good... drop to 7 cups, then 6, or substitue a diet for a regular... then 2 for 2, etc. Good luck!
I will check in in a day or two to let you know how days 6 and 7 are going.
Happy Labor Day!
Hello Happy face, congrats on working the program. You can do it!! Wish
youl luck on your first day back to work. Just plan and you will do fine.
I find it very easy to take your luch to work. Hang in there, you will do it!!
good for you on the exercise and drinking your water. The program water
and exercise go hand in hand. I know for me exercise is not a option just
a life style. Have good day
Good Moring to you, Hope you had a great holiday. I know you will be
so happy to recieve your book. Hope to see more of you. Do you haVe
a list of what to eat on Phase 1? If not I would be happy to post the
list to you, if you want to start before you recieve the book. Just let
me know . you are welcome to come and lurk! hew!! That is how you
will help keep your motivation and support. Have agood day and take
care of you and welcome to fat smashers.
Yesterday we were at my son's for a BBQ. It was day 14 and thought I would have a diet coke. I always drank caffeine free diet coke. After not having one for 2 weeks it didn't taste the same. Just didn't care for it.
Suzanne good luck getting an answer from Dr. Ian or staff. I e-mailed to 3 of his e-mail addresses when I go the book as I had questions and still have not gotten an answer. Buttercupkitty how did you get an answer?
Hey gang. I've been a 3FC member for a long time, but haven't posted in ages.
I just started Phase 1 this morning. I went to the store yesterday & stocked up on fresh fruit & veggies and plenty of brown rice. I made a huge vat of rice last night so I'd have plenty for the next few days. I also have beans soaking so I can cook them tonight.
My obsticles will be 1) being able to eat snacks during the day at work. my job is very busy; I'm lucky if I get lunch! 2) exercising: again long work days 3) NO CAFFIENE---I might be a bear for the next few days!!!
But, I am committed. This morning I made a smoothie. I packed my lunch (brown rice w/sauteed onions & garlic & salad w/the spritz salad dressing; a bag of grapes & a bag of celery.
Has anyone used flax seed while on phase 1? I'd like to add it to my smoothies in the morning.
Hi everyone! My husband and I are starting the diet today. I was very gung-ho about it, but I'm kind of nervous now. My husband is a big eater and during phase 1 I'm worried about him not getting enough to eat and being hungry all of the time. I also want to have more "dishes" to make. I'm ok with eating raw/grilled/steamed veggies but I don't know how he'll do. Hopefully everything will get easier after day 1. I'm really happy to have found this community! Good luck everyone!
Today is the first day for my husband and I. We weighed in this morning and took pics of each other yesterday. We are both really excited about this plan. Leaving the diet drinks alone will be a challenge for me and dh loves his coffee in the mornings. But, we are committed to following the plan to the letter for the next 9 days and beyond.
I have a 14 month old and he loves for me to push him in his stroller... so I will be doing it 5 days a week. lol.
I had breakfast this morning and I am stuffed. Oatmeal is very filling.
I don't usually eat much during the day. But, I over eat at dinner.
Not sure how I got an answer...I just sent an email when I first got the book...here is another clarification I got as well....
Hi,
I just bought the book and had a couple of clarification questions for you.
On Phase 1 can we have fruit juice?
Also, Phase 1, it says 2 cups of brown rice, 1 cup oatmeal and milk and yogurt also. Is this the maximum we could have or are we required to eat that totally?
I look forward to your response.
Thank you,
Yes, you can have a cup of FRESHLY squeeze fruit or vegetable juice in phase I.
In phase II each day you are allowed to have 1 serving of any of the lean meats and 1 serving of the seafood. For example, you can have chicken breast (without the skin and the right size for lunch) and have a piece of salmon for a dinner meal. If someone has allergies to seafood, then they should have two meat servings that day, let's say chicken and turkey or whatever combination they prefer. If you really don’t want the meat, then you can have two servings of the seafood. The items listed are the max that you can have, but you’re not expected to eat EVERYTHING on the list EVERY day. That would be too much food. Pay attention to the serving sizes and remember, more calories are coming back into your diet. As far as the other boxed items: Eggs--you're allowed one or the other; Milk & Cheese--you're allowed each item listed per day; Flavorings: you're allowed each item listed per day; drinks: you're allowed the coffee and tea per day, and your choice of the rest of the items listed. You MUST do your exercise as prescribed in the book, especially during phase II. If you don’t exercise and you add all of those calories back, then you won’t lose weight or even worse you might gain weight. So follow the diet and exercise program tightly to continue getting results! Keep SMASHING!!
All the best,
Dr. Ian-

Thanks, buttercup! I had also asked the same questions about P2, but haven't received a reply yet. He didn't really address your questions about P1 though
Bouncy, I don't have the list, no, but I'm fine with waiting until the book arrives. Well okay, I'm rather impatient, but I can live with it....
I'm not following any specific plan right now. I eat mainly whole foods, and watch my portion sizes. I've had good success with this, but recently I've had a few (okay, quite a few) night binges, and feel as though I'm losing control again. I'm hoping that following a more rigid plan will help me out.
Fat Smash caught my attention because it seems to focus on the whole foods I already love. Giving up my morning coffee should be interesting....
