Default Fat Smashers Week of August 28-Sept. 3

Suzanne I hope you don't mind me starting this! I am just a wee bit excited about this eating plan!

Phase I, Day 1
Starting weight: 313 lbs

I've had my oatmeal and a banana so far today, plus a 16 oz bottle of water. I've got a salad, some yogurt with blueberries and lots of other pieces of fruit with me, so I have NO EXCUSE for not being on plan today!

I am so excited about this plan because it is incorporating the whole foods lifestyle that I want to have. This is just a more disciplined way to incorporate whole foods into my life. This is the first plan I've done that I believe I can make a way of life. This truly could be my LAST DIET EVER!!

Looking forward to SMASHING success with all of you!

Default Day 6 on FS

Good morning! I'm on Day 6 on Phase 1 and hopped on the scale this morning. I've lost 6 pounds so far! Wooooo Wooooo! This phase has really helped me get in touch with just how off-kiler my eating has been! It feels so good to be feeding my body such good food!

Default clarification from Dr. Ian

Hi All, I don't know if this is allowed, but I thought this response to buttercupkitty from Dr. Ian might clear up some discrepancies in the book

Hi,

I just bought the book and had a couple of clarification questions
for you.

On Phase 1 can we have fruit juice?
Also, Phase 1, it says 2 cups of brown rice, 1 cup oatmeal and milk
and yogurt also. Is this the maximum we could have or are we
required to eat that totally?

I look forward to your response. I am excited to start the plan.

Thank you,

Yes, you can have a cup of FRESHLY squeeze fruit or vegetable juice
in phase I.

In phase II each day you are allowed to have 1 serving of any of the
lean meats and 1 serving of the seafood. For example, you can have
chicken breast (without the skin and the right size for lunch) and
have a piece of salmon for a dinner meal. If someone has allergies
to seafood, then they should have two meat servings that day, let's
say chicken and turkey or whatever combination they prefer. If you
really don't want the meat, then you can have two servings of the
seafood. The items listed are the max that you can have, but you're
not expected to eat EVERYTHING on the list EVERY day. That would be
too much food. Pay attention to the serving sizes and remember,
more calories are coming back into your diet. As far as the other
boxed items: Eggs--you're allowed one or the other; Milk & Cheese--
you're allowed each item listed per day; Flavorings: you're allowed
each item listed per day; drinks: you're allowed the coffee and tea
per day, and your choice of the rest of the items listed. You MUST
do your exercise as prescribed in the book, especially during phase
II. If you don't exercise and you add all of those calories back,
then you won't lose weight or even worse you might gain weight. So
follow the diet and exercise program tightly to continue getting
results! Keep SMASHING!!

Has anyone tried brown rice pasta? I picked up a bag the other day, but I've not tried it yet. It should be an acceptable substitute and help keep things changing so we don't get bored. But of course it has to actually taste good, lol. Any experiences?

Bodies fluctuate in weight all the time for various reasons. There's a good chance that when you weigh in on Day 10 you will see a loss from your original weight.

Be patient, and stay away from the scales!! Think of other ways you are benefitting, like looser clothes and a healthier diet.

Hang in there!

PS: Are you drinking lots of water? That is key for me!!

Hey everyone! Day 7 of Phase 1 is today. I'm still doing great. I had one meal slip up yesterday (went out to eat to a restaurant where they didn't offer salads....aCK). Anyway, right back on plan after that meal. Feeling great, still.
Today the plan is:

B: oatmeal 1/2 banana
S: yogurt smoothie
L: brown rice with stir fry veggies
S: 1/2 banana
D: big salad

I did walk for 1/2 hour today. It wasn't fast (my 5 year old rode her bicycle beside me), but it was a walk! I'm DYING to get on the scale. Not feeling a lot of weight loss, but I FEEL great!!!

Hi Sheryl! I bet that one meal off plan didn't hurt you a bit! It's hard to imagine there being a restaurant without any salads at all!

Yup I drink tons of water a day..at least 130 ounces.I know I need to stay away I couldn't help myself and gave in.I had my hubby hide the scale so I can't weigh in till day 10,but one thing that made me happy was I tried on a pair of pants that I couldn't fit into in about a year and they actually fit.Still a little tight but I can button them no problem

Well today is day 8 for me....I am feeling bloated today, but otherwise feel pretty good. Amazed I havent gotten on the scale yet....but I am holding out until Thursday for that.

I did have 1 small peanut butter cookie - (it was smaller than an oreo) but I am not going to consider it a failure - its just life. Sometimes I need a little taste to get it off my mind.

Now I really need to start working out everyday - I am too lazy to get up early in the morning, becuase I stay up so late with hubby (we get a little work out in the evening ) and in the early evening after work the kids are running around and want my attention since I have been at work all day.

I heard a commerical today state that "in childhood if you eat French Fries 2x a week or more, your risk of breast cancer rises by 27% due to its trans fats" This statement really freaked me out - I think I will make the kids avoid fast food too....I feel great feeling so healthy and I am sure they would too, by cutting down on some of the junk.

Today is day 8. DOing well...but I am dealing with some depression as far as how my career life is going. I am not eating like I should...I mean not eating enough...I have some brown rice on the stove with some tomatoes in it and I had an apple. I need to eat more and get out of this funk. A 4 mile run tonight should help. I did slip on Saturday night because I did not have access to foods allowed. I will weigh in on Friday which will be day 12...I know I am down...just not sure how much.

Smile

Hi ladies! I'm new and on day 1 of Fat Smash. I bought the book today and have a few questions I wonder if anyone can answer. I've seen other people ask about whether we are to eat all of the food listed as allowed, such as 2c brown rice and 1c oatmeal per day. Also, what about the yogurt...I bought plain. All of the others have either sugar or a sweetener in them and I thought we are trying to get away from that during detox. He isn't really clear on some of this.

Anyway, I look forward to reading all of your posts and good luck!!

Beth
