Day 10 and 10 pounds gone:carrot:I can tell I lost inches in my hips. My jeans are all fitting better.
I finally exercised tonight, although I didnt last long. Walked on the treadmill for 7 minutes and had to stop for water. Than I set it on trainer and after 8 minutes the incline went to 7 and I was done lol I will try again tomorrow to go longer.. My 3yo told me to get off because I was to soak and sweaty lol |
ooo I want to join!!! I need accountability so bad. I am on a diet similar to the abs diet. I cant have high fructose corn syrup. and healthier choices. We just cant eat all sorts. Its a healthier way of eating. not really a diet. and I joined the family circle walk program.. I have been walking at least 5 miles a day. We shall see!!! I am way excited.
|
Great job on the weight loss, both Tara and Lisa!!! Lisa, I know how you feel with the exercising. I can't go for that long yet. You did great!!
I've got an appointment with the trainer tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to getting in shape. It'll be a hard road ahead, but it'll be a good one. Talk to you ladies later!! Kara :-) |
Welcome wildthing!! We always love having new people to talk to!! :)
|
Kara - I have my trainer tomorrow, too. I'll be thinking of you when I'm there! :lifter:
Wildthing - :welcome3: I think you're so right about the accountability. I find that it's super important to me in attaining my weightloss goals. Lisa - :yay: Congrats on the weight loss! And for the rest of us... :cheer::cheer3::dust::cheer3::cheer: I know I need some good vibes! I'm really starting to eye up the goodies in my kitchen. I know I don't want them, and they won't make me feel any better than I do now, but they look so yummy. I swear, they are doing this to tempt me or their new plan is to gain as much weight as possible. Every day there's something new. I don't get it. I'm off to the grocery store to fill up on all the goodies that are good for me. I'm really trying to teach myself that there is nothing I can't have. I'm allowed to have everything, I just chose NOT to eat it. I'm really try to teach myself that it's my choice not to eat the junk, and that eating it is what got me to this point. Okay, that's my little sermon for the day! :soap: Another day down! Woo Hoo!!! :cb: |
That's such a good theory, Annie. I'm going to try to adopt it myself. It's not that you CAN'T eat it, because if you wanted to, you could. It's that we are making the choices that are important for our health and well being. Good job filling up on those goodies that will be good treats for you, and healthy at the same time....I wanted to make oatmeal cookies and sweet potato fries today, but alas, I have 1 pack of instant oatmeal (not 1 cup) and 1 sweet potato. Grrrrr. So I'm going to have to go grocery shopping before I can try those things. And we are leaving to go out of town on Tuesday, so I won't be shopping before we leave, because I need to eat what I've got.
I weigh in tomorrow-nervous, ladies!!! :D Wish me luck! |
Thank you Kara and Annie for your kind words. I know we are not supposed to do weight training but I've been doing it for the past 3 months so I didn't really want to stop. I guess I should really rely on my measurement tape...not the scale.
Kara, IE is Intuitive Eating. Based on very simple rule. Eat what you want. Eat when you are hungry. Eat consciously. Stop when you are full. I know it sounds like no brainer. But as we all know, we eat more than when we are satisfied... The hunger scale can be used for this...What I really did was Paul McKenna's plan... which is very closed to IE. While eating, you put down fork after each bite and eat very consciously. My portion dropped dramatically using this in a matter of days. He has more "tools" such as how to fight craving, emotional eating, and so on. As I'm not that big of an emotional eater, that didn't bother me that much. He actually had a 5 or 6 week series called "I can make you thin" on TLC and it does work. I'm still doing it...but not following it to the T since I'm doing FSD. According to Paul McKenna, there are no food I can't have. Well, some stuff he can do...like a lady who was addicted to chocolate, who used to eat at least 5 lbs of chocolate daily doesn't eat chocolate anymore after following his techniques... But I thought I needed to learn how to eat healthier, which was why I ended up with FSD..and big result in 9 days was very tempting too.. anyways. :D Below is the Hunger Scale. First, decide how you're feeling: 10: Stuffed. You are so full you feel nauseous. 9: Very uncomfortably full. You need to loosen your clothes. 8: Uncomfortably full. You feel bloated. 7: Full. A little bit uncomfortable. 6: Perfectly comfortable. You feel satisfied. 5: Comfortable. You're more or less satisfied, but could eat a little more. 4: Slightly uncomfortable. You're just beginning to feel signs of hunger. 3: Uncomfortably hungry. Your stomach is rumbling. 2: Very uncomfortable. You feel irritable and unable to concentrate. 1: Weak and light-headed. Your stomach acid is churning. You should eat only when you're feeling 1, 2, 3 or 4. Put your fork down at 5 or 6 and wait until the next scheduled meal or snack. If you're trying to lose weight, stop at 5, the point at which you're eating a little less than your body is burning. Good luck with your weigh-in tomorrow, Kara. :) |
Tara - Thanks for sharing that. I think no matter what weight loss plan you're on, that's extremely helpful and makes so much sense. Sometimes, we make things so complicated when it's really simple. Now, we just have to do it! Ha. Easier said than done.
|
That's great, Tara. Thank you for filling me in on what IE is. I think that it's best to keep that scale in mind, especially when we are eating OFF the plan, because that way you don't dig your hole too deep, you know? I think it sounds really awesome.
As far as the weigh in, I lost 9.6 lbs. I know that my weight loss is going to slow down soon, but having as much weight to lose as I do, I can't help but be excited about the loss. :D I love having you guys to talk to-it's awesome. :grouphug: |
Before leaving for party, I just wanted to share some NSV.
This was awesome since I've been little bit depressed today about my weight. While getting ready to go to my friend's house party, I decided to try on this one pair of skinny jeans I got last year. I fit well last year, then this year..before I started this weight loss journey, it wouldn't even button up. When I lost some, I tried them on again and it did button up but HUGE HUGE muffin roll... and I told myself that I wasn't going to try these on till I lose at least 20 lbs. I wasn't even thinking about that but just wanted to try them on today. I did and it actually fits well. I can move around in them, even put my hand in my waistband without sucking stomach in that much. :carrot: :cb: :broc: It just made me feel so much better today. :D (I'm kinda nervous bc my friends haven't seen me since April and I've lost about 17 lbs since then...) Well hope you ladies have a great evening and Kara, really CONGRATS! That's sooo awesome! You lost more than 1 lb per day! wow! =) |
Tara,
That is AWESOME! I know how good that must feel-I tried on some the other night and couldn't get in them yet, so I know I'll have to wait a while, but I know your friends will think you look beautiful, and even if they don't, YOU know how far you've come!!! Hooray!! :broc: Have a great time tonight! Thanks for the congrats! :) |
Kara - What a terrific job you have done :carrot:
I have been lurking and just wanted to say WOO-HOO!!!! :cp::dancer::dancer::congrat: |
Thank you Evie!!! :D I appreciate that! I know how it is to lurk-I did it for a while before I started talking. But now that you've talked to us, we won't let you go back to lurking! Haha! Thanks again, I appreciate you taking the time to post this comment to me! :D
|
Evie Rose - :welcome3: So glad you're not just lurking anymore. This is a great site for support. Please feel free to join in anytime. The more the merrier!
Kara- You are rockin' it! I'm so excited for you. How does it feel to be in the 200 club again? Woo hoo!!!!! Tara - That is so great you're fitting into your skinny jeans. Yeah, it's great to see the numbers on the scale change, but when you experience those kind of triumphs, it is so exhilarating! It's enough to make your entire weekend. Yay!!! So, ladies...things didn't go so well tonight at my father's surprise party. I tried to do well, and I guess in the grand scheme of things, I didn't do terrible, but I have been doing so well lately. I ate cake and a little dab of ice cream. It tasted divine. And I had two beers. Tomorrow we have a block party, then Sunday is when we get all the girls in the family together to hang out once a month. I know at the cook out on Sunday I'll do much better than tomorrow, but wish me luck! I'm going to need it to survive tomorrow. On a side note, my brother-in-law made a phenomenal salad. I don't know which phase it works in, but I ate it anyway! It sounds funky, but it was so yummy. It went right away at the party! Baby spinach, watermelon, feta cheese and pine nuts. It was mixed with some olive oil and seasoned to taste. I believe he only put in some salt and pepper. So, so good! |
Hey Annie!
Thank you so much. It really is a relief to be back in the 200 club. I know usually I'm going for 100 club, but I had gotten up to the highest weight in my life, and it feels SO good to be out of the 300s. I'm even embarrassed to say I was there, but I can say that I'll never be there again...it's too long of a way down for that. That's ok about your father's party!!!! I think that there are some events where you need to enjoy yourself-and if that means eating some cake and ice cream, then do it! Life is only so long, you know? I know you, you'll get right back on the bandwagon. :) I have to say I really miss being able to drink some every once in a while. I enjoy having wine or drinks with my friends, and that's something I haven't been able to do, so having a couple of beers in my book is a-ok. That salad sounds AWESOME!!!! I love pine nuts with anything, especially in pesto...omg I love pesto pasta, did I mention I love pasta? Hope everybody is having a good night-good to hear from you Annie!! |
Thanks, Kara! I'm going to beat myself up about, just move on, but the weekend still isn't over. I'm thinking that I'm going to detox Monday - Wednesday next week. Thursday I head down to DC until Friday night to work the 4th of July parade down there. We live out of 7-11's when I'm on the road with this guy, so it's very difficult to eat healthy. I figured I would have to pack some stuff in a mini-cooler so I have some options. We'll see how it goes. I have some days to plan it out.
|
I know what ya mean, and I'm sure that whatever you do will work just fine :) I'll probably do detox again pretty soon. I might wait and do it when we get back from our trip-we are going to be gone July 1-7, so maybe when I get back I will pick up detox again.
Hope you have a good Saturday night-it's raining here-so so relaxing!! :) |
Ahhh! So we're having the block party, and I'm trying to be good. It's not easy at all. I'm ending up being so anti social, since I can't be around all this junk food and not be tempted to eat. I did do veggie kabobs on the grill, but then I also ate a soft pretzel and a hamburger. I also am ready to get drinking with everyone, especially since they're playing some drinking games, but I know that in the end it's counterproductive. So, while they're all out there drinking, I'm in here typing. My brother has been laughing at me, but he understands. Hopefully he'll pass the word along, so people don't think I'm crazy! Thanks for letting me vent. I'm hoping that this will keep me from eating those really good looking hotdogs and ribs they keep grilling. Ugh. I'm not ready for the real world, apparently! Ha.
|
I know exactly how you feel-I looooove grilled food-hotdogs and hamburgers!!! I know how you feel about feeling antisocial too-that's the way it feels sometimes, and I remember that my family all thought something was wrong with me the last time I did a diet. They gave me a "sit down talk" to find out what was wrong...they weren't very supportive, so at least your brother understands to some extent what you are doing. I can also understand wanting to drink with everybody-I miss having drinks with my friends, and with Ryan. He'll be over here having beers and I'm drinking my water-it's a bit boring, but hey...like you said, it's counterproductive. Unfortunately, that logic doesn't always make you feel better. Good luck, and thanks for venting to us!! We are always here for you!

Hey ladies. I've been working out of town but I'm back. I wish I could say that I;ve remained on plan. Its hard to eat fresh when traveling. I weighed myself at the hotel gym on Thursday and lost 3 pounds.. even with my sushi mess up. I am going to remain on detox probably until the 4th then go back on it. I love my new dvds. I even bought 30 Day Shred by Julian Michaels and I love it even though I can't get throught the entire video.
I feel as if I've been missing alot. |
We are glad you are back C Bo! It is most definitely hard to eat on plan when you are traveling, but it seems you've done really well considering you lost 3 lbs.! I'm glad you like your DVDs-I've heard a lot of good things about 30 day shred-maybe I should try it.
Glad you are back!! |
Hello Smashers:
We came back from the coast early because hubby said the winds were just too strong to go out on the boat and he needed to be back to work on Monday. I am not bummed because while we had a good time I was tempted to eat and drink what I shouldn't so it is good to back and get back on track. I'll weigh in the morning to see what damage was done. Tara: I agree with the others it could be muscle since you are exercising a lot. Also, how is your sodium intake? You could be retaining water. A trick I picked up at a weight loss center said to drink 88oz of water on day 1, 96oz on day 2 and 104oz on day 3 to flush the system. You visit the bathroom a lot but I have found this helpful when I retain fluid. Evierose: Glad you stopped lurking and decided to join. The more the merrier. Jan. |
Hi everyone!
I too have been lurking...hope you don't mind one more, I'd love the accountability! I've done FS before but haven't really given it much of a chance to work before I jumped ship. I'm headed to the grocery store in a little bit and am starting tomorrow. Quite frankly, I'm sick and tired of feeling like crap. My diet is horrible. I manage to get to the gym about 4 times a week and I easily drink a gallon of water a day, but my "fast food, eat whatever I feel like" diet has really took its toll on me. A lack of energy and my inability to lose weight although I'm putting in the effort in exercise has prompted me to do something NOW. I'm looking forward to eating better and FEELING better. Here's to tomorrow, a great day 1! Looking forward to meeting all of you and following along in your journeys! :) -Mel |
Mel: Welcome to the group. We love having new people join. Speaking of fast food I found microwavable containers of brown rice, corn, carrots, green beans and peas that would make it easy to pack for lunch w/o all the hassle of packing up leftovers from last nights dinner if you are pressed for time in the morning and don't get it ready the night before. While the raw veggies are better for you I think these containers are great for those pressed for time or having gotten the store for the fresh foods. They are also small so you won't be tempted to overeat. Just thought I would pass that along.:grouphug:

Hi Jan, thanks so much for the tips!
It's not so much not having the time as it is being pure lazy. I have the ability to plan and actually LIKE having everything planned out. I just have made a bunch of excuses lately and talked myself into going out to eat a lot although I know it makes me feel icky and look it too. I got back from the store not too long ago and have meals planned and cut up/portioned out for tomorrow. My only question at this point is... what does everyone eat for dinner? I'm okay with eating fruits and veggies all day, but when I sit down at night to eat, I have a hunch that I may feel a little deprived. Any ideas? I may have to go searching for some recipes! Anyways... just to hold myself accountable, my goal is to lose approx. 50 lbs. I'm currently at about 200 lbs. and I hold weight fairly well. Everyone who knows what I weigh (including a trainer at the gym) has guessed me to be about 170. Therefore, I'm not sure how much I am capable of losing to still look healthy and maintain some curves. I don't wish to look emaciated or stick-like, I just want to be healthy and energetic, wearing single-digit clothes for the first time in my life! I don't want to put any time constraints on my weight-loss, but I'd ideally like to be in maintenance mode by the end of this year if possible! -Mel |
Welcome back Jan, and welcome KMelody!!
To answer your question, Melody, I usually eat my brown rice for dinner, and mix it with some beans and usually broccoli (steamed). You can also eat your sweet potato for dinner if you like that, or something with a little more substance to it-that, too was my problem. I wanted something to EAT for dinner. That worked for me. Hope that helps!! :) Welcome, and you're in the right place! |
Welcome, KMelody!
So, I definitely went off the wagon this weekend. I was trying so hard to stick with the plan, but the real world was way too much for me. The weekend was packed with parties, and get togethers and dinners and lunches and bbq's that I just caved in. The good thing is that I realize how awful I feel physically and am excited to get back on track. The other thing I realized is that I have to learn to say no, so I can help myself. I hate missing out on things, but apparently that only hurts with my weight loss goals. I'm going to have to be more aware of this in the future. Plus, I definitely need to figure out how to deal with my stress. I am so much of an emotional eater and need to learn how to deal with that. It's all life lessons, right? Anyone have any answers? Ha. |
Just wanted to say hi. I'm starting FSD tomorrow. I'm glad to hear there are positive results out there. I hope to have plenty of encouragement and words of wisdom from this forum.
Tyanna |
Welcome Tyanna!! Just wanted to tell everyone I'll be out of town/touch until July 7th!!! I'll post when I get home from Tennessee!!! Hope everyone has a great week, and stay strong my friends!!! <3 you all!! :grouphug:
|
Okay, girls! I know this has been quiet lately, probably because of the holiday and people going on vacation, or it's because you're like me. I have been horrible lately with eating and working out. I figured I'm back to Phase I on Monday morning. I really need consistency in my life; which is the complete opposite of what it's been. Lots and lots of stress. Hopefully I can get some routine going on soon and get into the swing of a healthy eating plan. Oh my! How is everyone else doing?
|
I hear ya Annie. I just started this diet and already fell off the wagon during the 4th weekend. Back on schedule yesterday. I need to lose 15 pounds in 30 days. Is this possible. I'm trying to stay positive about it. I go to curves 3 times a weeks but I don't think that is enough exercise. Here's to getting back on track and lots of pounds lost!!! Ty
|
Okay, I'm just having a terrible time getting back on plan. Things are so crazy right now, and I'm not on any schedule, so the planning is extremely difficult. I'm going from job to job and place to place and seeing people night after night trying to find a permanent job. Ugh. The freelance world used to be easier, but with this economy, people aren't doing events like they used to, which is putting my life into a tailspin. Okay, that's enough ranting and raving. I'm really trying to make good choices, since i'm not exactly following the plan, but that doesn't always work out that way. THings should settle a little bit by Monday, so I'm trying to make a go again at detox. How many times have I said that before? :( Keep your fingers crossed for me. I need all the help I can get right now. Ha.
Tyanna - With hard work, all things are possible. We'll get through this together!!!! |
Don't feel bad Annie. I haven't been following the plan either. I have been quiet sick lately. I've been experiencing the worst stomach pain (not related to FS) one could think of. My doctors don't seem to know the source. They've diagnosed me as having diverticulitis to gall bladder now they're saying it's the acid in my stomach. This pain can last anywhere from 2 days, to weeks. When it creeps up, there is no excercising, no eating on plan, nothing... everthing comes to a holt. I've been in pain for the past 2 weeks. I started to feel a sigh of relief yesterday. With that being said. I plan to start phase 1 on Monday, 7/14. You should join me. We were doing so well.
|
:getwell: CBo - Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. Hopefully you'll feel a lot better sooner than later.
It's a deal! We'll both start back on Monday and keep each other on track. |
Why do we sabotage ourselves? I was doing so good then it seems like everyday there is something going on and I have absolutely no willpower to resist temptations. I am going to have to start Phase 1 again on Monday. Hubby will be gone out of town for the week so my plan is to work very hard to stay with the plan while he is gone and get back into exercising. I also need to check in everyday with you guys because that is what keeps me on track.:o
Jan |
C Bo & Janmot - Are you chickies ready to start one more time? I don't want to go back to eating fruits and veggies, but I definitely want to go back to feeling good like I did when I was eating fruits and veggies.
This time I did something that I haven't done before...I actually weighed myself this morning. I'm so not a fan of the scale, so this is a big step for me. When I dropped several sizes this past year, I only dropped a couple pounds, which bummed me out. I wanted the number to go with the sizes. The silly thing was that I felt great about myself other than the weight number, and that's when I decided to not check it out anymore. The only problem...it didn't give me any accountability. So, I weighed and measured myself and am taking my pictures tonight. If I'm doing this, I'm going in full speed ahead. I kept adjusting this plan to my own plan, and it turns out, I don't know how to do that. If I did, then I wouldn't need to be on a diet, would I? Ha. So, I'm giving myself over completely, which is hard for me. Hopefully I won't let myself get off plan without reaching my goals...again. Here we go...:spin::crossed: |
Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I posted on here. For some reason, I didn't see a big result during the Phase 1. Well, I still have been working out and eating healthy, using what I learned from FSD..with lots of fruits and veggies. I'm down 3.4 lbs since 26-Jun. I know not as much as some of the FSD people but loss is loss and people at work are starting to notice my loss so I'm trying to renew my vow in eating healthier every day. :D
Just wanted to stop by and say hi to all of you! =) |
Annie,
I also weighed and measured myself this morning and quickly ate my oatmeal with blueberries. I then found an exercise station on my cable tv that was really neat. I had watched a commercial in which Jillian from The Biggest Looser advertised an exercise station on cable. If you have digital it is free. They have 10 minute pilates, yoga, and all kinds of cardio. Since I am so out of shape I did the 10 minute pilates and I could actually do it w/o passing out. What is neat about it is that they offer all kinds and at different fitness levels. You can also get access to it at any time so for those insomniacs out there this is also perfect and you wont' get into a rut when it comes to exercise since they have so many varieties to choose from. Like you I am determined to stick with it and not cheat.:jig: Jan |
Hey Guys,
Remember the exercise channel I talked about Monday - I only did 10 minutes of Pilates Abs and I am sore today so even though it was a short workout I am really feeling the burn. :carrot: Now I need help with breakfast. I usually just have oatmeal with berries but I know that when school starts I will probably rush out of the house w/o eating. I don't really like fruit first thing in the morning so I am trying to find something to eat for breakfast that fits the diet. Any ideas? Mornings are tough for me because I am not hungry or I just want something simple like toast or a granola bar. For some reason I like something crunchy in the morning. Maybe when I am on the later phases I will have more options. Jan |
Have you tried the oatmeal cookies? If you like crunchy you could bake them longer so they have a crunchy texture.:)
