How did everyone do this week-end. I found that the sedars were fine and that I did not overeat. But I was craving food all the other times.
could be that I wasn't able to have coffee (decaf is not kosher for pesah) or enough exercise.
OK to Salsa class and the garden today.
have a great day.

I bravely did quite well, though I must admit there were almost tears in my eyes when I was brave enough to turn down the amazing-looking (and calorie loaded) flourless chocolate cake with strawberry sauce. But they would have been happy tears, since I was proud of myself for being able to do that. Besides, the fruit cup I had instead was quite good.

I did okay. I definitely didn't overeat at the seders but the day meals I did! Also I usualy drink crystal light and since it isn't KP I'm not drinking enough and am retaining at least 2 lbs of water.

Charisma I'm impressed with you!!

I am having real problems with my low carb low fat diet this week because of Passover. I really miss my comfort foods especially decaf coffee and gum. Its only a few more days I will be lucky to maintain this month instead of losing. On the positive side I have been very good about preparing and eating low carb/low fat foods and I was very conscientious during the evening Sedar meals.
Its funny how some weeks are just incredibly easy and others are a terrible slog.
This is definitely a slop week.

It is a beautiful sunny day. I got up early this morning and working on our pond digging out more earth. We will have to pay someone to take away the bags of earth.
The scale is moving DOWN carrot:
I took 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet out from the library.---highly recommend the book as a great analysis of different diets and making them work for you.
I'm off to another salsa class.
have a great day.

Hi everyone. I just saw that there was a post here up on the main screen, so I thought I'd pop in.

I'm thrilled that Passover is OVER. I did find during the middle days (chol hamoed), but lousy on the first and last days of the holiday.

tzfardaha, I see that you are doing low carb. Are you following a specific diet or doing it on your own. I for one could never do low carb, I eat an enormous amount of veggies and some fruit, though I do avoid bread, rice, pasta, potatoes and the such. But I do love my veggies. I also count calories as it is the ONLY thing that stops me from overeating and sets my portions. Protein is another thing that I eat lots of. The fiber (found in the veggies) & the protein keeps me nice and full.

A salsa class? Sounds like FUN!

Funny, I was just going through my emails and found this:

Subject: The Night After the Seder

'Twas the night after Seder, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The matzah, the farfel, the charoses I ate,
After both the Sedarim, had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked over to shul (less a walk than a lumber),
I remembered the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The turkey with gravy, the beef nicely rared,
The wine and the matzo balls, the Migdal pareve cheese
The way I'd never said, "I've had enough; no more, if you please."

As I tied myself into my apron again
I spied my reflection and disgustedly, then
I said to myself, "you're such a weak wimp",
"You can't show up at shul resembling a blimp!"
So--away with the last of the meatballs so sweet,
Get rid of the turkey, chopped liver and meat.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
"Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have any more macaroons from the box,
I can't wait til next week. (Ah,the bagels and lox.)
I won't have any luckshon, farfel or p'chah,
I'll munch on a carrot or wire shut my own jaw.
It's a three day yom tov and shabbas is still
Ahead of me with another fleshiks meal to fulfill.
If I have to cook one more chicken, I think I will riot.
So a zis'n pesach to you all and to all a good diet!

It's been ages since I've been here. Feels like Passover was forever ago, though it's been less than 2 weeks since it ended. I did really well...even at the seders. I had planned some flexibility beyond my normal program, and I kept to my plan....even did things like half a matza ball, leaving the other half...and stopping at 3 bites of sweets. The rest of the holiday, it was a mix of simple meals and incorporating some Pesadik foods that I would have missed if I hadn't had a little. I made a batch of salmon gefilte fish at the beginning of the holiday, which I love and it's pretty healthy. Also, some sephardi charoset which I used a little of on matza and pesach rolls. Didn't have a single macaroon all week, though.

I was very happy to get my normal foods back, though, after the holiday....especially beans, rice, and soy products....oh and oatmeal. I really eat very little actual bread. It think I've had about 2 slices and a couple of Pitas in the past 2 weeks.

Next stop, Shavuot? Low fat splenda sweetened cheesecake, anyone?

Hi -

I haven't checked in here in a while. I'm back from Israel (visited my boys over Pesach) and I think I did OK over Yom Tov because of all the walking! We were walking up and down hills wherever we went. I'm still only a total of 5 down, but better than nothing.

It's true that Shavuos is right around the corner - any low cal cheesecake recipes? And any light dairy meals?

Welcome back!

I'm no good with low-fat cheesecake recipes - I always make everything from scratch. But I think this year will be the year I find a good one. Hopefully someone out there has one that is still cheesecake!

I'd love to join this chavurah! I saw my doctor at Pesach, he laughed and said that it is the week of weight gain...not only is the food heavy and delicious, but it is also loaded with sodium....I must admit, I love matzoh!

I keep thinking that eating responsibly (which is my goal) is part of my obligation to honor the body haShem has provided.

Hi - I'm new to 3FC - and I guess to serious weight loss in general. "The time has come" - say me blood tests. Ergh.

Well anyway - I'm on day #5 and doing well - thank G-d!
