Hi Sunny, yes i saw it, i'm sorry, i was just getting back from lunch and i read it quick, got sidetracked with Channon's site. I'm forgetful. Thanks for the compliment on the beading, i'm really happy with them, i think they are cool and i'm hoping that the yarn cafe will buy them from me to sell. But I need to get some more made up and i'm a tad reluctant to start another project, although i want to.

I know what you are saying about the blog, i will be careful. Promise. It's becoming a good way for me to keep track of projects and to get some journaling done.

Simba did really well while i was gone, i'm sure they took good care of her cuz she wasn't mad at me when i got home, she was a tad clingy though. She just wanted to be on me all the time, which was fine with me cuz remember i came home and got that flu, i was home and could cuddle with her. But i've been noticing that my poor baby is going deaf. And the vet told me she has cataracts so eventually she'll lose her sight too. She is almost 13, so it's inevitable. I've just noticed her hearing when i call for her, or sometimes i startle her now. She can still hear, but I have to be close. Poor baby! Ya, surprising, but i think cats do miss you too, i noticed Tom missed me too. Those darn kitties!

I'm glad your mammogram went well, that is good news. I'm having a physical next month and then i'll have a mammo too starting every year now that i'm 40. I have to go yearly and i've been going every 5 years since i was 25 b/c my dear momma had breast cancer and at an early age w/no other cancer on her side of the family, so it made me high risk.

Happy Birthday to your dear Joe!!! Enjoy your friends and the day!

Wanted to stop in and introduce myself. Hi! I'm Allie. I'm 20 yrs old, I live in Seattle and Philadelphia, depending on the time of year. I stared LA Weightloss in February and I attribute it to any success I've had.
I was saved almost a year and a half ago. :-) It's nice to come in here and find people praising God.
In Him.

Welcome, Alliesarang!! Are you in school or why are you on two sides of the country? Where are you now? I too am doing LAWL, i had great success at first, lost 17 lbs. in about 2.5 months, but the losing has slowed down and i'm having trouble getting back on program.

Canadian_Mickey 06-24-2005 11:30 PM

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!!! :) It's so great to be around people that are so encouraging!

SunnyD, thanks so much for the info about those IBS sites, I will definately look those up! I can use all the help I can get right now in trying to get it under control! I really do appreciate it!

I went shopping today, and got all healthy food, and am trying now to control my portion sizes...that is something I really struggle with. I never know how much to cook, when I do cook, and always put too much on my plate for portion sizes. :nono:

Things have really been stressful for my hubby and I lately, and it is affecting me in more ways then one. We are Superintendents for 5 apartment buildings, and finally made the decision to leave that job behind, as of SEptember, but I'm now wondering where I'm going to find another job.... would appreciate your prayers that something opens up... I applied to a few, one that I really want at a retirement home, helping out there....

Also our truck, goes with the job, so we are going to be in serious need of a vehicle as well, and don't have the finances or anything to get one... :( It's been a discouraging week. I'm hoping next week or even tomorrow will be better.

God never gives us more then we can handle, right?

Hi everyone!

Another week is over and the weekend is here. YEAH! I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my DH and getting some things done around here.

It's great to see some postings again and some newbies as well. A big welcome to all of you. You're not going to find a more supportive group than this one.

Michele: Your stitch markers are really nice. What a great idea! I hope you'll be able to market them.

Don't be hard on yourself about your weight loss slowing down. You've done awesome. Sometimes it's easy to go into a slump but you'll get going again.

Sunny: Say a big Happy Birthday to Joe. I love Olive Garden. Have a wonderful time celebrating. Your Joe is just 1 year older than my own DH!!

Mary Kay: 4 lbs. is a lot. Keep up the great work. Are you enjoying the program?

Myisha: I am so glad that prayers are being answered for little Channon. God is Good! Sorry to hear about your little guy but better he gets them now than when he's an adult. My guys both had them so bad that they had some in their mouths and ears, etc. Very itchy!

I'll check your Channon's website when I'm finished posting. Looking forward to seeing what she looks like!

My aunt had a shower for my future DIL the other night. It was a really nice evening and she got a lot of really nice things. She was very pleased. She's slowly collecting what she needs to set up their home.

DH is coming home very soon so I should get going.

Good Night!!

In the beginning of your weight loss journey, did you ever just want to give up when you didn't see results? If so, how did you get out of that mindset? I find that I get so frustrated with things, and feel like I'm not doing it right, if I'm not losing anything. :tantrum: I know that's the wrong mindset to have. I guess maybe I haven't educated myself enough to know what to eat what not to eat, and how much of each to eat. How do you teach yourself all that?? :chin: I could use all the help I can get with this! :^: It's overwhelming to me just how much information, and how fast it changes... I'm feeling really overwhelmed with the task at hand! :(

Mitchypoo 06-25-2005 10:54 AM

Mickey, I wanted to encourage you to maybe measure your food for awhile and see if that helps. For instance, if you are having pasta, measure 1 cup of it, and 1/2 cup of sauce, or an easy one is when and if you eat meat, take a portion that is the size of a deck of cards, or if you want roughly a cup of something like veggies, a handful is about a cup. 1 oz. of cheese is about the size of your thumb. Use tricks like that and measure whatever you can. I'm suppose to weigh and measure everything on LAWL, but i don't have a scale, so i use some of these tricks. Here's some serving suggestions from LAWL:
Beef 6 oz. raw
Tuna 6 oz. (a can)
Chicken Breast 8 oz.
Shrimp 7 oz.
Vegetables, 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked
Apple, 1 small
Watermelon 1 cup
peach, 1 small
Rice, 1/3 cup

Hope this helps.

Hi I hope you remember me Sami? Sorry I have been gone so long. My DD had her baby Chayse I have to say he is so cute! My poor DD had such a tough time she was in labor 36 hrs and pushed for 2hrs then a c-section. And then they where giving her too strong meds so she was sick so she went for day not able to keep anything down. At on point they gave her a shot to calm her tummy and she had a reaction and they had to counter at it. So her first few days at home were not good. Then in the mist of all this my Mom's house caught on fire. It started in her garage and thank God her neighbor her a loud boom (tires popping on the car) and they got her woke up and out safe. She is staying with me until her house gets rebuilt. And if that isn't enough stress I started feeling bad. At first I just thought it was my IBS but the pain got so bad I went to one of the med checks. (My DR. was out of town) They wanted to send me to the hospital and do surgery because they said I had a cysts on my ovaries. I waited on my Dr. and I just got out of the hospital they had to remove one ovary and lots of scar tissue and cysts from the other one. Please keep me in your prayers that the test results come back on the ovary they removed because she said it look like there was something wrong with it. But she really didn't think it was cancer. This was a tough surgery because they did a c-section cut so the pain was a lot worse than I thought it would be.

Now that I cryed on your shoulders I want to say hi to everyone I have really missed everyone. I hope to catch up and get to know all the new people I have not met.

Will post again soon!
Sami

wilma12 06-25-2005 06:37 PM

Sami: First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your little grandson. You must be having so much fun with him. I am sorry your DD went through so much. I hope she's on the mend now and can enjoy little Chayse. I'm also so sorry that you have been going through more health issues. You are in my prayers. I've missed you on this board and wondered about you. Keep us posted so we can pray for you.

CanadianMickey: I know exactly what you're feeling. When I first started posting on this board 5 years ago I was approx. 200 lbs. At first I felt like it was never going to come off. It's been a long haul for me but now I am getting really close to where I want to be. I've gone from size 20 to 12. Just keep doing what you're doing and the weight will come off. If you lose 1 lb. a week that's 52 lbs. in a year and that's a lot faster than I lost mine. I've had many struggles but have made my way of eating a lifestyle and now it's normal for me. YOU WILL DO IT!!

Michele has given you some excellent guidelines to follow. Don't give up. We're here for you.

BTW, can I ask where in Canada you are from? I'm from Manitoba and it's wonderful to see a fellow Canadian on this thread.

Yes, I'm in college. Right now I'm in Seattle for the summer. (my school is in Philly). My weight loss is definitely slowing right now too...but through no one's fault but my own. haha. It's just all about the schedule for me. I'm not busy anymore...and that equals boredom eating. yikes. Anyway, thank you for the welcome, keep up all your good work! :D

Canadian_Mickey 06-25-2005 08:00 PM

Michele & Wilma, thanks you for the encouragement, I'm from Ontario, just moved here from BC last October.....I miss the mountains terribly!!!!! Yay, a fellow Canadian!!!!

Mitchypoo 06-27-2005 12:48 PM

Canadian_Mickey 06-27-2005 01:06 PM

I'm around!!!! I have a job interview today for the job at the retirement home! I'm so excited! It's a job that I really want, but I'm trying to not get my hopes too high, so if I don't get it, I won't be so disappointed. Pray for me!!!!!

I also have been walking alot lately. and drinking more water. I feel a little better...but it is so hot to walk outside.

Mitchypoo 06-27-2005 01:13 PM

Mickey, i like your avatar, really cute. Well, i'm not going to wish you luck for the interview b/c i know that God is with you, and if you are meant to have this job, you will. Let us know how it goes. Don't you just love the whole interview process?! And thanks for the reminder that I should be drinking more water, haven't had hardly any today, and maybe i should go walking tonight after work.
