:coffee: Morning fellow journeyers (is that a word?) :dizzy:
I got your pm Michele, thank you. I so appreciate your support. :cp: Glad that you are getting some relief from that back. :flow1: Sunny, getting your roof on earlier than scheduled how did that happen??? Usually you would be a week late if not more. Hope the noise doesn't disrupt the house too much but it will be so nice when it is done. :D Every year we plant sunflowers for the birds and they are almost six feet high already. It is fun to watch the birds eat on them for months into the fall and winter. Kind of like our version of :mcd: for the birds. Thank you for your sympathies for my kitty. Well I have to get ready for work, have a long day today so will check in tonight and let you know how I did on my first day of Phase I. Already found a salad that sounds really good for lunch. So I will be ready :hungry: when lunch hits. Everyone have an OP day today and remember God loves us each and every one, we are special each and every one, and we are forgiven each and every one. How can we not be filled with joy. |
Dieters devotions for July 21, 2004
July 21
Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. Jane couldn't belive how much harder it was to diet now that Dottie had moved away. The strength and support of having someone to diet with had been immense. Just having someone to talk to had helped a lot. Now there was no one close by to say, 'No!' The only thing that was saving Jane was her reliance on God. When-ever she found herself tempted and wishing for Dottie's support, she closed her eyes and talked to God. His presence assured Jane, and she was able to withstand temptation. It was good to have God as close as a prayer. For that she was eternally grateful. Today's thought: Help in time of temptation is just one prayer away! |
Hello all
Went to the potluck and had a nice time. Was hurting a little and tired from work but i felt better. The first thing John said was that it was nice to see me smiling again. We sat together at dinner and it was fun. We've become friends so we have a background and things to talk about. I introduced him to my cousin Chris and I had anxiety about it wondering well, what if he likes her.?....but you know what, i decided if that happened then that's how it'd be. And the truth is, he made ME feel special last night. Woke up in pain at 4:15, put the ice belt on and was able to go back to sleep. Feel ok this a.m. Have a great day! |
Thursday morning
Good Morning CEers!!!
It's a super busy week for me since the other nurse is on vacation. I have already done more visits in 3 days than I ever do in 7! But I keep telling myself it's only for this week and then things will get back to normal. LOL It's really hot here in central TX. We haven't been able to work on the pond much these days. ~Michele~ Glad you are feeling much better. Glad that your potluck went well and John noticed that you were smiling more. That's a good thing! :D ~Bunna~ Yes I love to watch the birds eat the sunflowers as well. We used to have many that came up naturally every year but our dear babies (goats raised on a bottle that are now adults having their own babies) have eat them all down this year so we won't get to enjoy watching the birds this year. Good luck on SBD, hope all goes well!! Stay strong!! Sorry to hear about your missing kitty! Hopefully it will show up soon. ~Sunny~ Hope your roof is going on well. Also, hope the noise isn't driving you crazy! It has me before. UGH!!! You are surely doing awesome on your exercising. Keep up the good work!!! ~Gary~ Wow, you were definitely busy on vacation!!! Hope you are catching up on your sleep now. That's the way it always is with us. We have to come home and go back to work to rest AFTER vacation.  Hope Ryan is feeling much better now. My Kaci girl was sick from Saturday until yesterday with 102-103 fever and we thought she had strep throat (she had friends with it) but it turned out to be viral pharyngitis. But she was really sick with a very red, swollen, throat. Poor baby couldn't eat much for 3 days! So HAPPY she is better!!! Hope Ryan is too! ;) Isn't Williamsburg great!?!? I haven't been there in years but it used to be one of my favorite places! When I lived in TN we went there every few years. ~Cheri~ Wow, I bet you are experiencing lots of heat down there. I know we have. But they say we will get some relief by the weekend and maybe early next week. We can sure use lots of that wet stuff (:rain:) We are having lots of grass fires around here. Nearly everytime the train comes through town (2-3 times daily) it starts a another fire. Plus these idiots that throw their lit cigarettes out the windows of the cars. Sorry if any of you smoke! I would hope you wouldn't throw out your smokes though. Plus our humildity is really low! I don't enjoy exercising these days either. It just takes too much out of me. Maybe when the weather gets cooler I can get out more and get more movement in my day. ~Hello to Sami~Deani~Sue~Wilma~MKay~Charlotte~Marilyn~HELLO! !!! Well, gotta go!!! Have a good day!!!!!! |
Dieters devotions for July 22, 2004

1 Corinthians 9:4 Have we not power to eat and to drink? Kevin blamed the diets. Kevin blamed his friends. Kevin blamed a bad childhood, glands, communists, and a government plot. Kevin blamed everyone but Kevin. Kevin tried and Kevin failed, but he never learned to take responsibility for his obesity. We can never hope to get anywhere unless we are willing to take ownership of our own problems. God has given us freedom of choice. We have the ability to abuse that privilege if we so desire. It is our choice, however, and we control our own destiny. Dieting is nothing more than learning to tame a freedom that has degenerated into gluttony. God will help us tame that beast. Today's thought: I'm in control of my life; my stomach isn't. |
:coffee: Hope I don't have to change my name to Kevin. That sure struck home today.
I have to get to the grocery store today cuz I am enjoying my poached eggs for breakfast but I will get tired of it soon. :T plus which I need to be prepared for the days I am home from the restaurant. I usually just eat my salads at work so I don't have to have all that stuff here. ;) I was happy to get all the way through the book to realize that eventually I will be able to have sourdough bread and some other foods that I really enjoy in moderation of course. I got pretty sickly yesterday afternoon, probably junk food withdrawals. I went to the gym but I didn't have much energy to push the :tread: much and then I got kind of nauseous after my shower. I ate a shrimp salad as soon as I got to work and that did help. I was afraid I would be sick all night but it did pass, thank you God. Will go back to the gym today and if I have to take it easy again so be it, I just want to get into the habit of going everyday again. How is the roof going Sunny? Glad you had so much fun last night Michele at the potluck. Sunshinelady (forgot you name :o ) hope you get the pond done soon, we are doing one next summer. We have other projects this year so want those done first. God bless and keep each of you today. |
Bunna, you made me laugh , it struck a chord with me too! I think you are doing great and showing sticktoititiveness! Kudos to you! :bravo: Would love to hear about your restaurant.....

http://www.ecardgallery.com/ecards/f...totnku08/1.gif  Good Afternoon CER's  Thanks *BUNNA* for all the support about the roofing, but alas it has been delayed another day because of rain... they might be here this afternoon, but we were told that it will be tomorrow for sure and the weather is promising. It is suppose to clear up and even the humidity will be allot less --- better for the roofers, they'll be happier if it's not so hot & wet ;) Kevin... ... too funny! You are a trooper too, Bunna... ... you will be fine after the first few days --- it's so hard when your body is going through withdrawals!! Hang in there ;) :^: :goodvibes Me too!!! I would love to hear about your restaurant... what kind of food do you serve there? More of a casual place (mom's diner type) or fancier? *MICHELE* Posting here these days can be very trying... that's why I write mine in notepad first so if I do lose it I just copy and paste it in again. I am so glad to hear that you had such a good time with John the other day... it bet it's so hard to smile when you are in so much pain... what a trooper you are! *SHERRY* It is soooo good seeing you post often again :) Although, you do sound very busy still... As I mentioned to BUNNA... they are due here tomorrow now and Joe is going to take the day off to be here (yeah!!!). I hate the thought of being here alone with all those workers, so now I won't be :D Thanx for the 'atta-girl' with my exercise ;) I am seeing allot of changes that are so good, so I just keep on going everyday even though I haven't seen wt-loss... I see it in how my clothes fit and that's what matters and that I feel great these days! Hello's to *SAMI * WILMA * SPROUT * MKAY * DEENIE M * SUE (Where are youuu??? Back from vacation yet?) * ANGEL * GARY!* I miss you all and hope the summer days have been good to you :) TTFN http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_2_118.gifApRiL MiLeS: 41.0 MaY MiLeS: 48.25 JuNe MiLeS: 20.75 JuLy MiLeS: 39.50 http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/imag...es/workout.gifJuLy CuRvEs: 7 Times *~*~*~*~*~*~* |
Hi All!
Wow...it seems like forever since I posted. After reading through all the posts...I sure missed out on alot.
Mitchypoo- I'm so very happy the epidural (sp) went well. I can't imagine being in so much pain that I couldn't walk. My heart go out to you. I know...I'll give you such a big hug that it snaps your back into place. I'm glad he made you feel special. Boy oh boy, doesn't that just make you want to hug him? And like him more? :spin: Sunny- Thank you for a gentle response to my yuk. I wish I could be in one room with all of you and I know I'd feel the warmth of all your lights shining brightly. Bunna aka Kevin- SB. I felt icky the first 1.5 weeks to say the least. NO energy or anything. It's all that crap coming out of the body. I'm still holding at 20 lbs. When I'm ready to really put forth again...I'll probably follow Phase I and bits of Phase II but right now, I'm basically following Mary's Phase. Not awful though. It's the nuts that got me through the rough times. You will feel soooooo much better. I will keep you in my thoughts/prayers. I love kittys but DH is alergic to them so guess what??? No kitty. Sunshine lady- Computer trouble? Mine comes and goes. My wish would to own a laptop and have wireless internet. Gary- Whew!!! What a vacation! How long were you gone? Hmmmm...who am I missing...Sprout- love the readings. It's been hot here in MI but to cool off for the weekend. Storms put out our electricity last night 3 times. Gee...DH and I had to actually go for a walk. Played cards (cribbage) and finally when the power came back on, watched a little TV then nighty night. Well, I best be going to bed now...Fridays are great because I LOVE the weekends. I'll be back on board this weekend I'm sure. G'night Everyone and if I didn't mention someone...I'm sorry. :tired: MK |
Good Morning CEers!!!
I typed and "posted" a long post yesterday and I see today that it must have gotten lost in cyber world. UGH!!!!!!! It even said "thank you for posting, etc..." and I was in a hurry and didn't stay to make sure it did. UGH!!!! Anyway, don't have much time. Working lots this week. Hope everyone has a GREAT Friday and weekend!!!! Will try to post again this weekend. Bye for now. |
Hi,
Had an adjustment this a.m. and it was kind of painful. I'm a little discouraged this a.m. I thought the pain would be gone with this epidural and although it's better overall, it's still there. I'm a little surprised and feeling defeated. Going back to chiro after work to do some work in their therapy room. I hopefully can start some stretching and maybe some swimming, going to atleast try to get swimming sometime this weekend. I HAVE to get some laundry done this weekend also......running out of undies! :o Or maybe i'll just buy a new 6 pack of them.... ;) That's truly how life has been, have to even find shortcuts for laundry. Yes, Mkay, i did want to hug him, it showed me that he does care. I felt great leaving that night. And yes, it made me like him more. He's just a great guy! We have the church festival in the middle of Aug. we'll both be there helping out, hopefully we can spend some time with eachother then too. Sherry~sorry you lost the post, that is so frustrating. Sunny's idea of posting in wordpad or whatever is really a good one but i never think of it until AFTER i lose a post. I need :coffee: ......Have a great Friday! |
Forgot to tell you a good thing that happened yesterday, there was this article in the paper about an awful thing that happened. A husband who killed himself after tying and duct taping his wife in bed. The cops came in and were looking for him, and he then shot himself, in front of her. Very awful thing, turns out one of my cousins was a pall bearer too......but anyway, there was this article from a Battered Womens group who is local and i called them to volunteer and I am going to train to be a group facilitator and train to be on their 24 hr. hotline where they would transfer calls to my number to be available for anyone who needs help or to talk. I'm so excited about this. Being a survivor of this, i think i can be there to help and i've looked for this type of opportunity since i've moved here. I have benefited from a small support group of this type so i think it'd be great to help in this capacity.

Dieters devotions for July 23, 2004
July 23
2 Thessalonians 1:4 . . .we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure. Ed was on a severely restricted diet by order of his doctor. There were more foods he couldn't have than there were that he could. Almost everyone felt sorry for him, because they knew how much Ed loved his food. The only person who didn't seem to feel sorry for Ed was Ed. He accepted his fate with a smile and a shrug. His ability to adjust was a testimony to his faith and character. Many people found comfort in Ed's ability to take his diet in stride. His perseverance showed many people that it could be done. Through something so simple, God managed to touch the lives of many. Today's thought: My diet is only as big a deal as I make it! |
http://www.ecardgallery.com/ecards/f...spctme08/1.gif A very Good Afternoon to all you CER's ~ I went to Curves this morning, but am waiting to get in my walk today. Don't know what the day has in store for us with Joe home the roofers coming... are they coming? Or not? Very unpredictable I am finding out... I sure do hope this doesn't become a horror story  :^: Joe (& I) had a sleepless night last night... Joe has not been very well the last couple days - dizzy and headaches. And last night I rolled over to give him a hug and boy was he HOT (!) he ran a fever of 101.3* (I think it could be a bug) and so I got up to give him an aspirin and within a couple hours he was drenched - the aspirin helped him sweat it out. The fever is gone this morning, but he still has a headache. So he is staying home today from work and is off again on Monday for a dental appointment we both have --- just cleaning. Poor guy has sure had his fair share of illness lately --- he goes for a Sleep Apnea Sleep Study on August 11th. His Dr. doesn't think he is sleeping well at night, making him vulnerable to bugs going around. And being he works in grocery stores there's allot to be caught just off the cart handles alone :o Guess what... I started on L-Acidophilus capsules a week ago (a good bacteria for the intestines you get from yogurt if you can eat yogurt) and am feeling so much better (I have severe IBS problems - can not tolerate any dairy products). My mother told me about it and what a lifesaver it has been for me! I am not in pain on a daily basis anymore and get so much done in a day - it's amazing. My energy level has picked up and my intestines have calmed down allot from all the spasms. Just thought I would mention it because so many suffer with IBS these days. Well, I really must be going... and go see what the hubby is up to. You all have a Wonderful Weekend in case I don't make it back on till Monday :grouphug: *God Bless* :sunny: SunnyD<>< PS>>> As I was writing this post I made a call to speak with Mel - the guy that was taking care of EVERYTHING with setting up the roofers and their schedule - and Tammy answered and you could tell she had been crying... Mel died last night :o :( and they don't even know how or why yet. The company workers are devastated! Mel was the nicest guy!! To make a long story as brief as possible --- now we don't know "when" a crew will be here. It's okay and we totally understand that they cannot help when death happens, so we'll work with the company as best we can too. We already have the supplies - we just need the crew. The new guy taking over Mel's job, Ken, is doing the best he can to figure out the schedule, but Mel did it all and no one else knows where the crews are to be. So now Ken needs to take the weekend and figure things out. He is going to call us on Monday after 12:00 and let us know where we stand. Isn't it so very sad  Mel was only in his late 50's! So now we'll just wait it all out and hope that it all works out for everyone... my heart just goes out to them all and to Mel's family --- I just couldn't imagine. Please keep everyone in your prayers --- thank you so much in advance. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_2_118.gifApRiL MiLeS: 41.0 MaY MiLeS: 48.25 JuNe MiLeS: 20.75 JuLy MiLeS: 39.50 http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/imag...es/workout.gifJuLy CuRvEs: 8 Times http://www.ecardgallery.com/ecards/f...ctme08/div.gif |
My diet is only as big a deal as I make it!
That is so true isn't it? ;) I know for me I tend to get into the "I can't have this or that" thinking rather than thinking about all the foods I can have. I seem to have a better attitude about SBD than others I have started. Perhaps God has prepared my heart for this rather than me just wanting to lose weight for vanity's sake. :chin: At any rate, so far so good and this is the beginning of day three. I like that I can have milk, ff yogurt, eventually sourdough bread and sweet potatoes in moderation. I am feeling so weak the last two days along with headachy so am going to wait to go the gym starting on Monday when my headache should be gone. :tread: For me I am not without any exercise cuz the restaurant keeps me moving for a lengthy period of time from 4:00 p.m. until at least 9:00 p.m. Wed-Sun. So I won't be a couch potato but just taken it easier when at home. Michele; sounds like good work to me and I am glad that you are excited about it. It is so hard to break that cycle and it is so dangerous for women still. :fr: So the best of luck with that. I bet the water will help you out some. Hope everyone has a blessed day today. :cheer: Oops, almost forgot to tell you about the restaurant. We cook the whole gamet of Italian and do a lot of specials, our menu is huge. We have an Italian eatery, we fancied it up a little but not totally fine dining because we are in a small area so not that many fine diners. We wanted to make everyone feel comfortable whether they are blue collar or white collar, we have quite a blend here. We get compliments from people all over the West Coast and travelers from the East Coast who eat here. We cook everything to order and we have some brilliant cooks including my husband, dils, and then three hired from outside. It is so hard not be :eating2: :eating2: :eating2: constantly. However, don't feel sorry for me because they cook for me on my diet plans all the time. My dil knows the rules as well as me usually. I am trying to persaude my other dil to try SBD but she isn't ready so I will keep my mouth shut, but it is also incentive for me to keep at it and get healthy and more slender than I am now. |
