2 Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fail.

Beverly never let her Bible get very far away from her. At the first tiny pang of hunger, she grabbed it and immersed herself in the Gospels. Feeding on the word of God was much better for her than feeding her face, and it always took her mind off her hunger. God wouldn't let her fail. He gave her strength and commitment when she needed it the most. Her diet had helped make her a much stronger person, spiritually. She had seen God's power to help her lose weight, and it had given her even more confidence in His power to do other things. Beverly knew that her diligence and perseverance came from God and nowhere else.
Today's thought: I am keeping God between me and the refrigerator!

What my journal looks like for today re 16 week challenge

Friday, July 9, 2004 - Week 2 Day 4 of 16 Week Challenge

Weight 270

Total miles walked: 761.5 (did not walk today)

Hooked on Paces (Ladies only gym): 38 times ( did not go today) - day of rest

Step counter: first day using it - will have to record todays steps tomorrow to get a base figure

Dailiness: Coffee in morning with walking friends, 2 loads of wash, eyes bothering me - things look fussy

Time spent: 2 hours

Accountability tip: 4 teaspoons of apple sauce first thing in morning, then going and dong exercise does help with food issues. Schedule for my eating went as follow: 7 - 8 am a piece of fruit, 10 - 10:30 1 egg or 1/2 cup cereal; 12:30 - 1:30 - tossed salad 3 pm piece of cheese 5 - 6 supper

Feelings: so much better - have not been really stressed for a number of days. Adoption services going to help out with cost for IQ test for son has made me feel good; feel good that I have done 6 days in a row

Scripture reading for today:
Psalm 139:11-12 says
If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Reading the Bible through in One Year: Today I read Leviticus 16 - 18

Dear Father, I am comforted that You know where I'm going, even when I can't picture a bright future for myself. Help me to believe that Your plans for me are good and to trust You to brink them to pass in my life. In Jesus' name, amen

Mitchypoo 07-09-2004 05:11 PM

Marilyn~love your idea to post journal, you are doing great! Love the prayer at the end too.

Looks like i'm going to go in and have the epidural shot. I'm in so much pain, i just can't take it. :( I'll continue with the chiro, but maybe this will give me some relief. Waiting for the radiology people to call back re: getting it scheduled for next week. Looks like another weekend in bed for me. But I have netflix now so I'll have something to do.

I may go to ..........are you listening Sunny.......OHIO in September! For 2 weeks I'd be there for insurance training!! Sunny, are you near Columbus? Wouldn't that be cool if we could meet! We'll see, you have to apply and take these profile tests and be accepted into this program. I may not be accepted so I shouldn't get my hopes up...

Romans 8:18
For I reckon that sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us.

Jimmy was fascinated by the cocoon. He watched the caterpillar work on its new home for hours. Everyday he came in to look at the cocoon. When the monarch butterfly finally emerged, Jimmy was delighted. God works some amazing miracles in nature. It shouldn't be so hard to believe that He will work such miracles in the lives of His people. Losing weight might not seem like a miracle, but for those who struggle with their weight, it often feels as if only a miracle will suffice. If God can transform a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly, He certainly can help us when all we want is to lose weight.
Today's thought: I am one of God's miracles, and He will help me be my best!

Hello CEers!!!

Just wanted to say hello. I've been really busy and still having trouble with the server. I'm working this weekend so don't have much time, but had a minute and thought I would try to post one more time and see if I could get through before it booted me off. UGH!! We lost both games in the softball tournament but the girls played well and had lots of fun. The second game we almost won! It was an exciting game back and forth, tied, then winning, etc... But the season is now officially over. I can't say I'm not a little glad. With the 90 plus temps and all.

My B'day is next week and my dear sweet Kelli planned me a very special day, Tuesday, with a day at the spa including a manicure, pedicure, shampoo and style, facial, a SIXTY minute massage, and lunch. The whole package takes 5 1/2 hours!!! Wow!! What a wonderful gift!!! So, don't think you will hear from me Tuesday. LOL

My dH bought all the stuff and is making me something that I have wanted for years. A goldfish pond with a fountain and a waterfall. We have collected and gathered rocks for years and we are using them to build a "natural" looking pond and landscaping. I'm so excited about that one too!!!

The doctors still aren't really sure what all is happening with me but they know for sure I have sleep apnea and that my O2 drops low at night. I am suppose to get a CPAP sometime this next week or so, as soon as the insurance approves it. All my bloodwork checked out well, even my A1C (bloodsugar average for 3 mos). Since, I have slowed down a lot, I am feeling much better. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes.

Sunny, the DR told me that one of the cheapest things I could do for my sleep apnea was to sew tennis balls into the back of my pajamas or gowns so that I couldn't sleep on my back. LOL I haven't tried it but I bet that would be a little uncomfortable. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well. I will try to check back in at a later time. {{{HUGS}}} to all of you!!!!!!!

Good Monday Morning!

I was in bed most of the weekend again but Sat. afternoon I started to notice that I wasn't having the constant pain down my leg and into my foot. I even sometimes could feel the numbness out of my toes. I told my mom and the first thing she said was....Oh, God is healing you!.....I want to believe that, i know it can be true. I'm scheduled for the epidural on Wednesday but will cancel if it continues to improve. I finally got some good sleep so if I can heal.....

How is everyone today?

Galatians 1:10
For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for it I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Granny wanted Ellen to lose weight. She used to offer her bribes all the time, to encourage her. The problem was, no matter how much weight Ellen lost, her grandmother wanted her to lose more. There was just no pleasing her. Instead of helping Ellen lose weight, Granny just made her more frustrated and discouraged. It wasn't until Ellen decided she wanted to lose weight for herself that it really worked for her. She prayed for God's help, and He delivered. Doing it for Granny wasn't enough, doing it for God and herself made it all worthwhile.
Today's thought: The more I care, the less I weigh!

Hello All!

I'm sneaking on the computer at work. LOL Believe me they know when you're on-line. We get breaks in the day so we can do a bit here and there.

Mitchypoo-
Wow...I can't believe your back giving you so much pain. I will say a prayer for healing for you. Hey, how's John these days?

Great Meditations

Had a good weekend. We are now officially members of our church. :bravo:
We joined last night after attending there for over 3 years. Hey...I was waiting on hubby.

I bought a georgous solid oak desk at a garage sale this weekend for $10. Does not really need any work; a little sanding on top and maybe a glass put on it and presto! It's probably dated somewhere in the early 50's.

Later All!

DeenieM 07-12-2004 04:04 PM

Hi All

Well, it was so nice to finally sign on today and when I read your posts I saw my name (still after all this time of being MIA)! Thanks for that - it made me feel really good. I have been gone most of the summer with various trips to my home town and to NY and to Gatlinburg,TN and just basically BUSY!!! I decided I should check in and tell you all that I am still plugging away at the weight loss effort. I did not reach my goal of 199 before my anniversary trip - that was a bummer but boy did we have fun! We hiked an 8 mile trail (4 up the mountain and 4 down) and it took us 6 hours - but WE DID IT!!! After we did it I could still function which was quite an accomplishment for me! Since we have been traveling so much my hubby and I are both up about 5 pounds but now that our life is settling down a bit I feel like we are gaining control back and we will soon have that 5 off and be on the downhill slide again! Sooo, I hope this post finds all of you as blessed as ever - I haven't had a chance to read all that has gone on - but I pray for you all and I am looking forward to catching up and posting some more! Hope all of you are still being successful in your weight loss efforts but more importantly that you are all serving the Lord with all your hearts!

In Him,
DeenieM

Good Morning Cer's,
Well, I got in my Curves Class and Stretching and then came home and put in 2 miles on the T-Mill... whew, I feel so tired today too. I am sure I am feeling the 7 miles I put in yesterday :^:

Guess what gang... I think we have a animal :mouse: resident in either our walls or the floors --- I have been hearing this odd noise for the last couple months and what ever it is is making my cats crazy. My Zeppe sits in the hallway just staring at the wall for hours and every once in awhile looks at me as if to say, "aren't you gonna get it?" I think that Joe and I are going on a hunt today when he gets home to see if there's a hole somewhere in the under-flooring where 'it' may be getting in... hopefully it's just something living under our home (& the sound is coming through) and not in it :o

*~*~*

*MICHELE*
I am sooooo sorry I haven't been back here to respond to your post about being in Columbus... that would be soooooo awesome to meet with you if it works out for us both. The drive is only abut 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. and Joe & I could do that with no problems! It would be so much fun to meet with you for lunch or dinner and finally meet you in person. Just keep me informed on what is happening with you and work and we'll see what can be worked out  :D

I am so very sorry to hear that you are STILL in so much pain with your back! My heart goes out to you, sweetie... {{{Gentle Hugs}}}

*SHERRY*
I hope you are having a good time on your Birthday outing today, but I am reserving my wishes till the 18th ;)

I agree with Angel... It is so good to see you again --- I so miss your posts allot! Hope you get things worked out soon with your computer. Did you know that there was another "back door" worm attacking Windows?? I am so glad that I go to the Microsoft Site every week on a regular basis to update my computer... you just cannot take a chance anymore. Do you know that even though Microsoft offers updates at their site for your personal computer many do not even go there or keep their computers updated? It is very dangerous with this day & age to do that. I go every Sunday and check.

Thanks for the advice for Joe --- it really works to keep him on his side! He is sleeping so much better now!! I am keeping that ball idea in mind  I kid you not... I have had some restless nights turning Joe to his side or keeping him there, but he is looking so much better and feeling better.

*MARY*
Hi!!! So wonderful to see you back too... nope I didn't get Joe's cold and his is almost gone now - thanx for asking about me ;) I have been having some problems still with this bad gut of mine - I cannot seem to figure out what is causing the spasams I have been having the last few days. I am still working out, but I just get so very tired and am not able to get much else done --- I get so frustrated. And I don't want to go to the hospital or Dr. I am very stubborn in that area... I want to see if I can figure it out myself... if I don't get relief soon I will cave and go see a Dr.

How have you been since your DD's wedding day and your trip have calmed down??? You feeling alright??
Have you heard from DD? How was her honeymoon and where did she go? Any pictures? ;)

*SPROUT*
Thanks!!!!

*ANGEL*
You have some beautiful graphics these days...
Hope that you feel better real soon!!! I miss your posts here too!!!!!!!!!
I have not let up on my *Prayers* for you and for your family... How's the
house coming along? You never said anything after your roof caved in and it rained.

And *DEENIE M*
It's so very good to see you back too!!!!!
So good to hear that you have just been on vacations and living life to the fullest --- it's a great reason for being away, but do stop in once in awhile and let us know how you are doing, okay ;) :o Wow!!! hiking 8 miles --- are you patting yourself on the back!!! Sounds like you and hubby had a great time!

 *Hello's out there to all you lurker's!*
Sure do hope you are making it a Great OP Day :goodvibes

SunnyD...I've got lots of graphics I haven't used yet. Mostly because I haven't posted a lot, in awhile. I noticed you & I have several of the same ones. I guess we both have good taste! ;)
Thanks also for asking about the house. The rains kept going until just a couple of days ago. DH is working a lot this week though. That's the way it goes. :^: It'll get finished eventually. We're getting several comments on it, now. It's making the house larger, to add on a garage & an upstairs. Of course, making the work load larger, also. I'll try to post some pics soon. I know I keep saying that....but, my intentions are good. :^:

Hope everything is well with you & Joe. I see you're still the encouragement of the thread. :) Prayers for you & all.

Mitchypoo 07-13-2004 10:16 PM

Sunny, I didn't think it woudl be that far, but we'll see what happens. If I have a rental car i'd drive to you. Still not sure if it'll even happen. I have an interview on the 19th. Will know more then.

I cancelled my epidural tomorrow, because i was better over the weekend. But it's still really bad after being at work 2 days. I was up most of last night, in major pain. Up and out of bed at 4 a.m. Let Simba out and then was able to sleep, but i'm so tired. Not sure i should have cancelled.

I have a lady coming to clean tomorrow.....i'm terribly embarassed at my house and the state it's in. Maybe she can make it better. I'm going to try and have her come once a month to do the heavy stuff.

wilma12 07-14-2004 09:11 AM

Good Morning!

Michele: I'm so sorry you're in so much pain. I can't imagine how you get through the day without getting the sleep you need. My prayers are with you.

Charlotte: Good to see you posting again. We miss you when you're not here.

Sunny: Wow! You're doing amazing with your walking! Good on you!! Soon you'll be a shadow of yourself!!

Deenie: Great to have you back! It sounds like you had some nice trips and don't worry that weight will come off.

sunshinelady: What a perfect gift! I would love one of those. Happy Birthday to you in case I'm not around next week.

Hello to sprout, mkay, sami. (I wonder if Gary is missing us at all??)

I've been back on track again. I'm back doing Curves 3X a week and then have added some more walking to my routine. I find it frustrating that the scale isn't moving downward. The positive is that it isn't climbing either. I really want to get rid of these last 20 lbs but they want to stay. I'll have to do some more reading up on what to do to break the plateau I'm on.

I'm on my way to work now. Have a super day!

sami 07-14-2004 08:54 PM

Hi It is me. I been Loa again and need to get caught up again. I have been having a lot of problems with my PC and had to take everything off and reformat and start over. I have really been pushing myself and caused a relapse with the fibro and then last week I passed a kidney stone OUCH! I am doing much better. I went to the Dr today and I have not lost any weight! But the dr has decided to put me on an insulin pill. Next week I am going for a stress echo because something showed when they did the 24 heart test.

Sorry to go on and on. I will catch up and post again soon. Looking forward to getting to know the new people and I sure have missed the rest of you.
