Smile Monday morning

Good Morning CEers!!!!!!

Well, here I am sipping and trying to come to life again. It's Monday morning again, where DID the weekend go?
Well, today is gonna be a busy one for me. I have a whole bunch of patients to see and we have a game tonight, about 40 miles away. At least the weather will be nice today, it's suppose to be around 80 degrees for a high. Oh, don't ya just love the warmer weather!!!! Since I worked this weekend, didn't get any gardening done, but some of my flowers are already starting to bloom, so beautiful. Like my moss roses, purslane, morning glories, sage, vinca, hollyhock, etc.... And it won't be long till the cannas, geraniums, lilies, etc.. will be blooming also. Don't ya just love the spring??? The birds singing, the hummers looking for something a little sweet, etc... Our tomato plants took a pretty good beating Friday night with the marble size hail. Poor things, they look abused.

~Eisenj~
Sorry to hear the ice/hail did so much damage to your world. When I lived in TN, we had a bad ice storm, I remember what it did to our poor pine trees. My dad had planted them on each side of our long beautiful driveway (750 ft) and many of them were across the driveway so we couldn't even get down the driveway. My dad had to call people in to help him cut the broken ones up. It sure was a tragedy for us. The only damage we have seen so far are the tomato plants. But we will have the insurance come and check out the house anyway. Just to be safe. Sorry your chiro visit wasn't so good. I have had that experience several times myself. Once, when mine adjusted my back, I passed totally out from the pain. But I later learned that I was pregnant. Scared him, a lot, and he has never worked on me again. Ouch!!! That fall you took sounds very painful. Sounds like you fall all over just like me when I fall. Glad you are better now.

~Sami~
So sorry to hear that you have been in the hospital. I have worried about that for me, too. Please take care of yourself, my sweet friend!!! Maybe now, things at work will be less stressful and more enjoyable for you, now that your boss knows. You hang in there and keep your way of eating and activity up if you can. Because you are doing so awesome!!!! I will be praying about the Lupus matter that everything comes out ok. We are all so proud of you, Sami, and what you are doing!!!!

~EVERYONE ELSE~ Hope everyone is doing well. Missing . . . . . . .all those MIA!!!! Please post when you can.

Good Monday Morning CER's,

Yes, Joe and I had a very nice relaxing weekend together... on Saturday morning we did get in our 3.5mile walk in at the park and when we got home I went into my little office to putts around and get the music list for church prepared for the month of May (takes quite a long time to get done - allot of reading) and Joe went out to putts around with the jeep --- changing the oil, greasing it ~ you know, things to keep it safe and running And he clean the mower, sharpening blades and such while it was still nice out. Then we got dinner & rented a movie... the "Looney Tunes" Movie - it was really cute and Joe loves Looney Tunes On Sunday we had really crummy weather! Very cold and WET ~ a good indoor day! Rained hard all day - it goes right into your bones, so when we got home from church we just got comfy and read our Sunday Paper watching classic movies together and then decided to rent a movie titled: "The Missing" directed by Ron Howard. It was long, but a very good movie about a woman raising two girls on the frontier. Then the "Extreme Makeover" HOME EDITION came on at 8:00... what a great show! They made a home larger and with new furniture and new appliances for a family of 9... they had just lost their husband & father to brain cancer. What an inspiring show --- to see their friends and neighbors chip in and help the makeover team. A wonderful Sunday program! So all in all is was a lovely weekend --- I always like it when Joe & I are able to have days where we can just "be" together... ...

We are not looking for much better weather here... some dry weather, but very cold! But they are calling for some 70* temps by the end of the week ~ we can only hope! I am concerned about all my flowers that are blooming... like my myrtle, the lilac trees & my crabapple blossoms... does anyone know whether I need to be concerned about the buds and frost?? Do I need to cover my Lilac's?!? The crabapple tree is too large to cover. Darn frost!

Hi SHERRY ~
I'll begin with you today since I never answered you after your last post about your health... I better understand now and will keep you in *prayer* that your health will improve... have you thought about just going for short walks? You may not feel like it at first, but your body will respond well. I think it's great that you go to the games and are a big part of them --- good for the kids and great for you too.

I too drink 1/2 caffeine & 1/2 decaf. coffee in the mornings... Joe brews it up & I love the smell alone! It just isn't 'morning' without the scent of coffee brewing in the air. When we had our last home up for sale (several years ago) I baked choc. chip cookies and brewed coffee to make our place feel liveable & "home" worthy for sale --- it worked, we sold it for more then we paid for it I just asked because of your post of stress on your heart. I wasn't speaking against coffee by no means... The Michael Thurmond program I am on suggests you give it up - but I just cannot... besides it is 1/2 & 1/2.

Did you have a nice break away from games this weekend? I see you got rained out... I saw on the weather channel the storms you got. We too had some storms come through Ohio that were odd... rain, sleet, SNOW (!), hail and flurries all happened in ONE day last week! We are hopefully going to have a better weather week this week. I see that today you are getting all ready for your game tonight that is out-of-town? Hope that the weather is better for you... Glad you enjoyed my hug

Glad to hear that the weather broke for you and you got some good weather there --- we are still waiting!

Prayers for your DD!! She'll be fine... hope they win! And I will say a Prayer for you as well, that your work schedule gets worked out - wishing you my best with your workload today!!!

Hi JUDY ~
I have been to a Chiropractor also (not lately, but have gone) and he really helped me when I went out. I went for almost 6 months. He still works on my hubby 1 time a month, because of the the physical job Joe has, he needs him. I don't think they are quacks at all - if you do your research. I found out that if you go to a Dr. and he never gives you a full set of x-rays and exam prior to him treating you - then you should beware of the Dr. not being a good one. We believe in them... it's with any Dr. you have to do your research. AND... did you know that you WILL hurt for a few days after an adjustment!!! I hope he told you that. Your muscles are realigning and they will ache and hurt till you heal in the proper alignment.

Hi MICHELE ~
How are you doing this morning? I too got a kick out of your idea in sharing your mother's advice... I will post something later too.

Did the Doc make your back feel better? The Chiropractor - as I posted to Judy, they are great Dr's if you have a good one. They go through so much schooling! I have a friends who's son is a Chiropractor and he really had allot to learn... and is a great Dr. today.

Sorry to hear that you lost your post again... I type my whole post as if I were writing an e-mail and that way I don't lose it & am able to spell check it before I post. Makes it nice when it doesn't go through on the site - I always have a back-up, much like Sherry does.

Sounds like you had quite an eventful day on Saturday in your town --- I too wish you had your camera. I remembered mine this time when we went to the park and got an awesome picture (that I will post later) of a black snake in the tree... so cool! And of the trail we walk on so you can all see

I think taking vitamins are very good... Joe & I have been on a vit. regime for years! They really do help I think... oh we may still catch a bug or two, but we are not ill nearly as much as some of our friends. We really believe in them. We get allot of our vitamins at Costco for a great price. I think you are well on your way to better health --- so happy & excited for you! Keep up the great work, Michele!

Hi GARY ~
Thanks so much for your sweet words... I always await to hear from you (and Angie) I will not give up --- no worries there! I just had a odd sort of week last week, but will get back into routine this week. I was all in a stooper over the Dr's appointment - all better now I did walk everyday last week - I just didn't go to Curves at all. I will later this morning or for sure tomorrow morning. I know what you mean about it becoming a habit again... I won't let that happen... thanks so much for your encouragement!!!!!!

Did the fence guys come out??? Yep, because we love our pets they cost us a bit to give them a good, healthy and safe life with us Hope it all went as planned. I think it is wonderful how you both are thinking of protecting her from herself & all she can get into, that's what Joe & I believe too. They are our responsibility, they don't know any better. So puppy school went well... glad to hear she's a good pup and smart. You sound like such a "proud papa" sooooooooo adorable!

So it got HOT there, huh... we only wish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be grateful... we have had so much rain and cloudy days here... it's hard to feel great with that - I love the sun and cannot believe how great I feel when it shows up.

Hi SAMI ~
Glad to hear that all is better with work and that you were able to talk with your boss. You wouldn't believe how many peole (especially in "high stress jobs" like yours) have IBS and don't even know it. It is so painful to live with - remember... I have it also. But since I have been on MT's program (& exercising) - I don't become ill nearly as much anymore... cannot remember the last time I had a fever or attack. High Fats, Dairy and Sugars add to IBS and it's pain and that is eliminated from my diet with his program...

Keep up the great job with your exercise... hope you feel better real soon!!!!

Hi WILMA ~
I hope that you are doing well with your program... have you figured it all out? I know I haven't yet - still researching myself! I do know one thing... that as we get older it is allot harder to get this weight off!!! Everything slows down - ugggg. I hope you had a restful weekend with your MIL and enjoyed the company.

Hi SUE ~
I am so sorry - I don't know why I say some things sometimes... you were just responding to the post I had forgotten I wrote! I do that allot - forget! I was ill and not feeling great with allergies, but am doing better and had forgotten I posted that... you didn't though and I am grateful for your kindness My allergies still flare once in awhile, but not nearly as bad right now - thank goodness! I think I am allergic to the Pine Cat Litter I am using for the cats! But it is a better product for them, so Joe is helping out now and scooping the litter box once in awhile and I have been wiping the boys down with a damp towel to clean them up a bit before I cuddle with them... it has helped. It should help allot once I am able to open the house up too... darn weather! Still waiting on that part.

Wow... you are shopping for some wonderful things at a great price on E-bay... the amethyst & diamond necklace set sounds beautiful!!! Amethyst is my birthstone also...

Hi SPROUT ~
Sure do hope you are feeling better by now. I know that colds and flus have been awful this year!

Yes... I posted how to do graphics TWICE on this thread. If you'd like I will PM you with them if you need it. I saved my post just in case someone esle asked

Glad to hear that the gym has helped you so much --- keep up the wonderful job!!!!
Down 2 pounds and 3 inches

*Prayers* for you and your eye surgeon... do you have a date set for the surgery?? My grandfather had it done at 86 years old and see's great now... what they can do today is awesome! You will be so glad you had it done, once it's over.

"Hello's" out there to AGGIE, VALERIE, DEENIE M,
CEEJAY, POOKEY & ANGEL...
hope you all had a great weekend!

Gotta go get in my exercise gang...
later... ... ...

In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. -- Psalm 5:3
Good Morning! I am thoroughly blessed this morning! I am laying my eating habits at the foot of his throne of grace. I am nailing others sin to the cross and forgiving them.
Today is pretty new to me and I can eat to nourish my body and not feed my bitterness.........
I will let you know how it goes!

HI LADIES, Not much time before work to post, just wanted to check in. My son took me and my nephew to the DODGER game yesterday----great seats! field level about 5 rows from the players...the only problem IT WAS 98 degrees on the field...sooo hot and no shade...we were as prepared as we could be (been there done that) but it still was uncomfortable at times. The DODGER even lost, we came home early (the first time EVER my son and I have left a game early---he has been real sick with a virus the last 3 days, I kept telling him it was OK not to go but since he had bought the tickets for my 50th he really wanted to endure it...poor kid--so proud of him--but after the 2 and a half hour drive, 91 miles and the hot sun..it just got a little much after 3 hours sitting in it) ....well gotta go....church was way cool yesterday...almost didn't go because we had to rush home and go right to the game...so glad we went.
later--Gary

Default Just checking in

Hello everyone
Just a quick hello since I am so busy this week trying to get DS finished up on his home school. He just a sweetheart and is ready to get through with school. Been trying to keep up with everyone and with the prayer requests. I am praying for all of you so please pray for me as I work towards my goal of 199 by June 8th. DH and I have been doing really good staying OP with our WW and exercising because he knows how bad I want to hit that mark before our anniversary trip! Also, I have a quick prayer request before I go, we are starting an adult bible study for the people who live in the apartment complex that we are ministering in that is located in inner city Memphis. Please pray that we will see some adults interested and that they will come to hear about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus. Gotta run, can't talk as usual just too much to do and not enough time to do it.

The Sun just popped out - what a nice feeling!
NOW if it would just get warm enough to open our windows

GARY ~
WoW! You sure did have great seats for the Dodger game - It sure was very sweet of your DS to want to take you & Ryan to the game even though he still wasn't feeling up to par. I hope he feels better real soon! Too bad that after all of that --- they lost. But you did get to spend some quality time with the boys

Hope you are having a wonderful day ~ "Hello's" to Angie!
How is her back?

DEENIE M ~
So glad you were able to check in...
Prayers for you as you are beginning a new adventure with your Bible Study Group - if I were able to I'd / we would / join you You will do wonderfully Joe & I use to run a study group years ago... it was so much fun, not to mention the learning! Ya know, you think you know so much about the Bible till someone see's it from a their (different) point of view... that's the best part about studies ~ as long as you have a good leader to keep you focused, so you don't go off track. You need that at a good study group - it is so easy to go off and forget where you were at & spoils it for those who don't want to hear long personal stories, but really want to study the bible... now where was I? *Prayers*

You are doing wonderful with your WW and exercise program ~ you WILL make that goal of 199 by June!!! I can see your determination!
*Prayers* for you Deenie!!

I must be going, just wanted to pop in
and tell you about the sun
later...

Hi all and Happy Monday

Gary~i LOVE the Dodgers! How fun and nice of your son. Sounds like you've raised a thoughtful guy. And yes, that is a long drive for you....I would think farther than 90 miles? Glad to know you are doing well and the family too. My parents have been complaining about the heat lately too. I think it was 100 yesterday.

Deenie! Way to go! Woo hoo!

Yesterday after church a group of 5 of us from my last Alpha group went to breakfast. We had so much fun! We talked for about 2 hours. We've decided to try and go to breakfast on the 1st Sunday of the month after church. Maybe John can join us next time. Then I got home and my cousin and her daughter and I went and looked at a townhouse her friend just bought. It was so cute, very nice, made me envious. I'd like to afford something like that someday. Then we went to the mall and had lunch and went shopping. I found my Mom's gift, still need to get her a book and in the mail tomorrow.

I can tell i'm starting to feel better, i'm having little spurts of energy, yesterday before my cousin picked me up i cleaned the bathroom. Slowly, things are getting done. But I needed a nap after our shopping trip. That's for sure.

I've had a dull headache since i've started the supplements, but i'm going to continue, i know i'll get use to them and i know it's good for my health. Have to go to Sam's Club tonight to pickup a prescription. Thinking i'll take a look at their vitamins/supplements. It's hard to find them with the right mix and doses.

Default Hi there!

Wow Judy that sounds like it hurt, no wonder your body is complaining. Hope your soon feeling better.
Mitchy- Glad all went well with Chiro- and going out for brunch would be fun, we have a fellowship dinner every Sunday night after church which works great, that way no one has to cook a complete dinner.
Sprout- will be praying for cataract removal and that check up goes well.
Sherry- Wow you are a busy women, hopefully things work out so you can sit for a spell. as far as e-bay, I guess ya just take a chance, if there is any problem, you can have the person get a bad seller's promo, so he/she can't sell.
E.Z.- Thanks! You sound like you have been busy too, Rylee sounds like so much fun!
Deenie- your bible study sounds neat.
Hope everyone is well, gotta run, pray everything is well God Bless!

Smile Tuesday morning

Good Morning CEers!!!!!!!

Well, it was another victory for us last night FIVE-ONE!!!!
I am so proud of our girls!!!! And I am so tired this morning!! We didn't get home until nearly 9 and then ate supper. I know that was bad, but had 3 kiddos ride with us and had to get them home. Anyway, we play again tonight. Hopefully we will do well.

I have a Dr's appt this morning with my primary Dr to get my referral for the cardiologist and to discuss filing my disability. I also have strained my back (I hope that's all). In doing a wound care visit yesterday on a 300+lb man that has leg wounds and can not lift his legs, so we as nurses are forced to lift them while wrapping them.(which are hugh due to severe swelling) I hurt my back. I'm not even suppose to lift since I have Facet Joint Disease in my back. But you do what you have to do. After I go to the Dr I will need to talk with my boss. I am getting more and more limited as to what I can do and they may not like it. But, I can't really help it.

~doitforme~Sue~
I may have to try ebay sometime. I would love to sell on ebay sometime. I have several friends that do it all the time. Is it now warming up in your part of the world?

~Michele~
Glad you are starting to feel better. Your breakfast sounds like a neat idea. A lot of fun! Maybe John will join you next time. I think you are right, your headache may go away with treatment. Hang in there!!!

~Sunny~

Glad to hear that you had a really nice weekend. As far as the frost goes with your trees and bushes. I don't know much about covering them, but I do know this . . . . . if it's suppose to frost that night, if before dark you will wet the trees and bushes with water throughly, it will kinda protect them. A wet frost is much better than a dry frost. Does that make sense? Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers.

~DeenieM~
Definitely praying for your adult Bible class. Sounds like you have one special son! I know you are doing so well that you will make your goal by June!!! Hang in there!!!

~Gary~
HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
Wow, you have been holding out on us!!! Hope you have a GREAT one!!!! Sounds like you have a really special son!!!!!!! Dodgers game, wow!!!! I understand that heat issue with no shade. We have a lot of that here in the summer. Thank God so far it's still in the 80's! Hope your son is feeling much better now. Check in when you can.

~standnngrace~
I think you totally said it ALL!!!! Your Bible verse is one we should all take heed to. Sounds like you have it all where it should be. Keep up the good work and thanks for being an inspiration to us all!!!!
Well, I guess I better get a move on, and get in the shower.

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT DAY!!!!!

Default Checking in......

Weighed in and was up a pound. I am not surprised but still disappointed. My update on nuturing my body with food and not feeding bitterness....
So far so good I feel rather Springy (:

This is my worship song for today

Lord, it was You who created the heavens.
Lord, it was Your hand that put the stars in their place
Lord, it is Your voice that commands the morning
Because even oceans and their waves bow at your feet, oh God
Lord, who am I compared to Your glory?
Lord, who am I compared to You majesty?
I’m Your beloved, Your creation, and You love me as I am
You’ve called me chosen for Your people, unashamed to call me Your own
I’m Your beloved.

Blessings to all of you

Gary's birthday was Feb 27th, but I guess we're still celebrating! I thought it was now too, but thought he just had one so i checked his profile, it says it was in Feb.

Judy~your crockpot recipe sounds good! may have to try that one.

Sherry~yeah! for the girls and their game!

Standngrace~please try to not be disappointed. You are doing well, you are not quitting and the scale number doesn't mean much. Just keep up what you've been doing.

I woke up before my alarm went off....way weird for me. I actually felt good this a.m. Got up and got my shower and was ready an hour early. So i went to have breakfast and even still got to work early. Even with Aunt Flo finally visiting on my worst day, i feel great!!! I hope i'll continue to have this energy through the day, we'll see.

Good Morning Everyone...
I just finished my T-Mill ~ 2.5miles... and am taking a break from laundry right now to see how everyone is doing today. I did not have a good day yesterday - but am doing fine today. I think the lack of SUN has been getting to me a bit, I was feeling very 'over' sensitive again. So yesterday I called Joe at work about 3:30 to ask what time he thought he'd be home and he said he was having an shorter / easy day and would be home by 5pm so I asked him about going out to dinner and he was all for it and so we went... what a nice dinner & evening we had. He is so helpful and understanding to me when I get like this (feeling discouraged) & has been so very supportive... when I feel like I am not going anywhere with my program he reminds me how far I have come and not to look back (which I am prone to do!). It's a good thing I am not Lots wife... I'd be salt

Hi SHERRY ~
I am so happy for you and your girls!! So glad they won!
Looking for another WIN tonight!

Looks like the bushes and tree made it through the frost just fine
Thanks for the advice! I have heard the same thing... but it did rain so I didn't have to wet everything - God did it for us

Hi VALERIE ~
Don't get all down on yourself for being a pound or two up - the body reacts differently each day. That's why it is so important not to weigh yourself everyday --- only once a week. If you are cycling you can gain 3-5bls in water alone... don't give up. Everyone was here for me when I was going through a stall (that lasted several months!). I was working out so hard and not losing and poof it began to move again (I wish it were poof, but it was the only word I could come up with ) I am in another stall now and felt very discouraged yesterday, but just got right back on the T-Mill this morning and will stay clear of the scale till Sunday. I usually weigh myself on Sunday or Monday mornings, just seems to be the best days for me. Just pick a day that is good for you and weigh-in only 1x a week, okay. Oh and drink plenty of water - it helps to flush out that stored fluid and body fat you are trying to get rid of. I wish you well! Keep on trucking --- you are doing so well!

Great worship song, Thank you for sharing it with us
Feel better!

Dinner sounds wonderful!

I am making some Turkey Breakfast Sausage Patties to freeze right now and then for dinner we'll have seasoned turkey slices with steamed veggies and a Balsamic Salad with Baked Potatoes.

Okay, I have taken enough of a break - catch you all later
Luvs,
SunnyD

Default Dieters devotions for May 3, 2004

May 4

Proverbs 16:20
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.

Ben couldn't believe all the people he was talking with. They all wanted to lose weight overnight! None of them seemed to be looking at any practical programs. They had all latched onto crash diets with pills and books and foolish promises of miraculous results. Ben sat down and worked out a practical diet that he could live with, so that once he lost weight (and he realized it would take some time), he could stick with the diet and avoid putting the weight back on. When he said his prayers that night, he put in a special request for some common sense for his friends.
Today's thought: Trust is a must for weight to abate!
