no heat exercise ideas?

  • Well it is supposed to be 94 but feel like 99 today...so i seriously doubt i will be doing much walking...not too mention the humidity here, it is easier to breath in a wet sponge.

SO, for the past couple of days i have done my indoor exercises of core secrets exercise ball. My legs can take no more...they are just worn out and sore from toe to hip. I have some pilates tapes but that will involve a lot of leg work too. What do you guys do to beat the heat and still get your exercises in?

I CAN NOT wait til fall. Maybe i could go accross the street and workout in my dads pool but i just dont associate the pool with working out..for me it is a place to get tan, ha ha. I think i will give it a try, perhaps just swim laps, but i still want to know what you all do to beat the heat.
  • Yoga for me. I barely get sweaty, but I can do it for hours.
  • I have a variety of exercise DVD's, so I use those in the air conditioning! If I had access to my own pool though, I'd be doing laps EVERY day!! Or you could just walk once it gets dark out!
  • Do you live anywhere near a mall? They are nicely air-conditioned and you can get a good walk in there when they aren't too crowded (some have special times for walkers).
  • Well i used the old standby of pilates and it didnt hurt my legs as much as i thought. My legs are SO sore today from my core secrets ball that i could barely sit down in my office chair at work...they were shaking. So i didnt think i could do the pilates but it worked out pretty well.

I have done the walking at the mall, back when i didnt work outside the home and i like it, it was a great way to kick start my day. At night, for some reason, it just seems to0 hard to get there. Kids with school work, dishes to be done, wash to be done...i just never seem to get around to it.

I should have done the swimming but, oh well. maybe tomorrow.
  • Swimming! I found a local outdoor pool that has lap swim hours and on hot days that's what I do. It's a nice break from my normal cardio routine.

I also belong to a gym, so there are plenty of hot days when I just do my regular workout at the gym and hope they have the air conditioner cranked up (sometimes they do and sometimes they don't).

On the weekends I walk to they gym and sometimes I will pass joggers out in the heat in the middle of the day. All I can think when I see them is wow-there goes a better person than me. You would never catch me jogging on hot days in the middle of the afternoon.
