  • Now I am feeling really guilty...all you girls running in the snow and I say it's too cold HERE to run outside. Last week the windchill did get down to 6 degrees but yesterday I totally could have ran. Oh well I did do 20 min on the treadmill this morning so that counts for something right?
  • I don't mind running in the cold, I just wish the wind wouldn't make my face so red and numb! I'm a tomato face after I run.
  • Thanks for the welcome, Helen!

Me, too, but even in the summer I'm like that. People always ask if I'm "okay". It's my thin British skin, I think.

Skinnyjeans, I think our weather is a lot like yours (I'm in Ottawa). I'd have to be pretty hard-pressed to run outside in this weather!

I got on the treadmill for 20 minutes today, and ran a straight 10 minutes!
  • Hi ellis ....

It's been busy I ran last Thursday, no time on the weekend... I, on the other hand, LOVE to run in the cold, HATE the heat, it drags me down...

No time for running today I am doing legs at the gym tonight...I don't run on leg day...
  • 6k run on the today. I did it in just over 33 minutes, which is the time it used to take me to do 5k when I could first run the whole thing.
  • Helen, congrats on the great time!

Ellis, congrats on running for 10 minutes straight!

My knees are better, I did a C25K week 2 workout on Saturday. I think I'll repeat week 2 this week as well. Then I'll try next week to move on to week 3. I don't want to hurt my knees again.
  • 20 minutes on level 5 hills on the today. A bit slower than I've been running recently, but I want to start getting some practice on hills as it's something I usually avoid!
  • I ran/walked for 28 minutes today. It was sunny, windy and about 30 degrees. Beautiful day, had a nice run.
  • lizzbabe -- You Southern gals crack me up when you think 50F is cold ... Tonight we ran in -12C or 10F, it was awesome ... I love, love running in this type of weather, tonight we ran 6.2k, in 46 minutes... That was really awesome time Helen!
  • The funniest part is I'm a born and bred Northerner but got acclimated to Texas weather quickly! I moved here from Vermont just over a year ago and before that, lived in Maine. And the problem is the inconsistency in weather it was 85 one day then 3 days later 17 degrees(F). I don't get it!
  • I did another couch to 5k! However week 4 looked too hard and week 3 I'd just done, so I made my own intervals up this week!

I've also bought a new watch that you can programme 2 intervals in and have them repeat, which should help with the training! It was quite good, since I usually look at the time all the time and count down till the last second, but this time it helped me focus on just running!

Felt good to start with on first interval, but the second and third ones felt a bit hard, then I was going to do a 4th but I was tired and got a stitch! Next time, next time...
  • 5k run this morning.
  • Good going, girls!

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill this morning, including a 10 minute straight run. I did NOT feel like doing it, and I'm getting a cold, but I'm just going to run right through it.
  • I ran/walked 33 mins. today. It was snowy and wet. Rather dreary out.

So at least you can relate, to some degree to us Northerners! But how quickly we forget!! I'd be willing to bet that I'd forget the cold weather all too easily if I lived south!
