Cool Runners #17 -- August '05

It's been quiet around here lately so I'll start a monthly thread for Cool Runners too...

I didn't run today I biked 25k and did a great leg workout :strong: ...

josie4 08-01-2005 07:34 PM

Hi everyone!

Today I just found out that I have mono, so I won't be running till I'm better. For a while now, I knew something wasn't right with me cause I'm always so tired. I never thought of mono, though, because I don't have a bf, or many friends for the matter. I went to the doctor's last week for a physical and told him how tired I've been, so he had me tested for mono. It was such a shock when the doc's office called today and gave me the news.

I'm so upset that I can't exercise! I really like running and don't want to stop, but I know I need to get better. Ugh, I'm really bummed out. My mom said I could strength train 1 or 2 times this week, but no running. :(

So, how's everyone else doing??

Celeste0722 08-01-2005 07:46 PM

I ran about 5 miles yesterday! It felt great!

Ilene-Wow, way to go on the 25K bike ride!

Oh no Josie! I hope you get to start feeling better!

3fcuser1058250 08-01-2005 10:12 PM

Josie -- the recommendation not to run, was this given by your doc or mom? Were you overly tired when you ran last week?

3fcuser1058250 08-01-2005 10:13 PM

MrsDawson, Congrats on your time for the 5k that's great!!

Only Me 08-02-2005 08:12 AM

First, MrsDawsondn, CONGRATULATIONS on your 5k! That is a great time for a first 5k.

Josie, What did your dr. tell you about exercise? If he/she hasn't given you any instructions, call back and ask. A friend of mine had mono at university, and I remember that she was warned to avoid contact sports and dancing at clubs for at least 6 weeks due to the spleen being more sensitive/already swollen and potentially injured by a jab to it. Not sure about other restrictions she had. Work on getting better for now though; you'll have years to run soon enough.

Ilene, you must have really needed the long weekend with all the running around you've been doing lately. How's your dad doing?

Leanne, wow, I just realized that your youngest child isn't even a year yet! And good to hear your training program is going well. Have you picked a goal race?

Welcome Laura! 30 minutes is a fine goal for your "comeback" 5k.

I was our running speed intervals this morning. 8x800m for a total of 11.4k of running with warmup and cool down. And probably about 1.5k of walking/slow jogging between intervals, but my garmin doesn't put rest distance into the totals. I enjoy intervals in a weird, self torturing sort of way. I feel like I've accomplished something when I'm done and jogging home.

paperclippy 08-02-2005 09:53 AM

Josie, I'm sorry to hear that you have mono! At least it sounds like you're avoiding the worst symptoms (so far anyway). I had mono last fall, and instead of just the exhaustion, I had a fever, awful headaches, and my throat swelled up horribly so that I could only force down about two spoonfuls of soup per day! Anyway, you can really get it anywhere, even though they call it "the kissing disease" . . . I personally am guessing I got it from someone coughing on me. :( Definitely take it easy on the exercise though, like Only Me said, your spleen is more susceptible to rupturing when you have mono.

I hope you feel better soon!

LeanneM83 08-02-2005 10:54 AM

Only Me
Yes, I picked a race that is actually on my BIRTHDAY...hahaha, So I will be celebrating being 27 by running....It is in Ottawa on October 9th....I am determined to do it in under 60 minutes this time!!! Yes, my kids are 4, 2 and 10 months...so I get to run and then run after them!

Hope everyone is having a great day

Leanne

LaMariposita 08-02-2005 12:53 PM

Josie,

Sorry to hear about the mono! I had it a few years ago, and really didn't feel like walking, let alone running. But, the worst part doesn't last long, and then walking a bit might be comfortable. Be careful, though, as your spleen and liver are going to be sensitive. I waited so long to go to the doctor that my liver was swollen to the point I almost was hospitalized. And this was with no exercise, just the heavy lifting I was doing every day at work!

Hope you feel better soon!

I just missed an entire week of running, work and other things got in the way. :( But, I'll get back on the road tomorrow morning! I just went shopping and found a great deal on TWO pairs of running shoes, so I've got to get out there and try 'em out!

Sweater Girl 08-02-2005 01:11 PM

Hi all,

The biopsy was okay (hurt like heck, but the doctor told me he would be VERY surprised if it was cancerous so that's good!). I was sore for the rest of Friday but was fine by the next day just as long as I don't put pressure on the incision area. Now I get to worry about another unrelated appointment I have at the end of August. I did a solid 10K on Sunday and a 3K on Saturday... My weight is down too so yah!! I have adjusted my goal weight though to one I think I can easily manage for the rest of my life!

Josie: I am sorry to hear you have mono. I have never had it, but I took over my brothers paper route for a month when my brother had it when he was 18. I had a little procedure done in January and my doctor said "no exercise whatsoever (or heavy lifting) for three weeks" so I'd personally even avoid weight training for now and only start again with the go-ahead from your doctor. What your body needs is rest; if your body is busy repairing post-workout muscle it doesn't have all its focus on making you better. I know it sucks (I've been there), but in reality your body will be greatful (and it didn't take too long after sitting out to be back where I was before my procedure).

Only Me: I want a Garmin, would help for pacing and stuff... Maybe I should ask for one for my birthday, how do you like yours?

Ilene: Yah on the 25K. I really should hop onto my bike, I want to tri a tri next year.

Leanne: I am now debating running run for the cure on my birthday... not sure, but after my scare I think it would be a good thing!

LaMariposita: I always like trying out my new gear! Have fun!

Cheers!

Ali:)

YP1 08-02-2005 03:00 PM

Today I did 5k on the treadmill, I hit 30 minutes for the first (and only) time since my 5k race, so I was really pleased with that. I'm trying to mix up longer slower runs and decreasing my 5k time to give me a bit of variety.

taekwondomom 08-02-2005 04:33 PM

Hello all. :)May I join in?

Yesterday I ran 1 mile without stopping. :) Then I walked for 2 minutes and ran .1 more. I considered running a little farther but as this is only my 3rd week of running on a regular basis I decided not to push too hard. In total I ran 1.1 mile and walked .9 miles for a total of 2 miles.
My next scheduled run is Wednesday.

MrsDawsondn 08-03-2005 04:16 PM

I got up Tuesday morning and did about 2.5-2.8 mile run around the neighborhood for about 36 minutes then this morning I walked the same route in 43 minutes. tomorrow my best friend wants me to stop by her house and walk with her so I'll be doing that and hopefully getting my runs in.

Sweatergirl I'm praying for all to be well sounds like you got a great report

leannem83 you are the bomb I don't think i could be running and taking care of 3 kidss under 5 you are the WOMAN! Good luck on the race!

Ilene- 25K wow that's alot of riding congrats on the ride and hopefully dad is doing okay?

Taekwondomom congrats on the running and yes I agree take it slow you don't wanna burn out too fast so take your time and you'll be doing 3 and 4 miles in no time.

LaMariposita no worries just get out there when you can and you'll love it when your back on the pavement.

josie4 So sorry to read about the mono get well and my prayers are with you and yes I agree you should take it easy for a minute until Doc. Gives you clearance to do anything different.

onlyme When i grow up I wanna be a runner just like you. Wow 800m intervals you go girl!

YP1 I just wanted to tell you I loved your blog!!! It's like reading a book you speak words that I sometimes think about but never voice. Thanks for being a voice for all of us mute sisters out here LOL. You should really look into getting it published.

Anyhoo I'm off but I'll chat with you ladies tomorrow.

Ellenwu how are ya girlie? Haven't heard from you yet I hope all is well.

Celeste0722 08-03-2005 04:20 PM

Hello ladies!! Hope everyone is having a good day!!

Today I included a hill in my run, I ran 50 min! My legs felt like they were going to fall off!

Question for you guys...Do you take some sort of hydration with you? If so, how do you bring it?

ellenuw 08-04-2005 09:07 AM

Hey MrsD and YP1 - great times on the 5K!! I am so proud of you both - I know I am a little late here, but hopefully you are still riding the joy of that!! I know after my 5K I was "up" for weeks.

Sorry I have been MIA. I have been sticking with my marathon training as well as weight training. All in all, my workouts keep me sane and focused. I am not a big fan of summer (especially here in DC) and the detailed schedule is certainly helping me get by.

I am about 3/4 of the way through the NASM "pre-course" to become a certified Personal Trainer. I have decided to get my ACSM certification by the end of the year (books should be here this week). That has been taking a lot of my time, so posting her is way down, but I sure am "lurking". I post (and whine - a lot) over at LWL, so stop on by .....

Leannee - you are an inspiration. Your birthday will be VERY special!!

Sweater Girl - I plan on getting a Garmin after Labor Day. I think I have convinced myself the 201 is right for me. If the 301 did intervals than I would sell my current Heart Rate Monitor, but no-go. Why can't they develop a menu system where you pick and choose which options you want on your tool and they make to order, kind of like buying a computer on line?

Welcome Newbies!! Josie - mono is a bear - hope you feel better soon. Be careful, mono got me hooked on "Another World" back in the '70s. Anne - how are you surviving? Only 2 months to go!!

Have a great day ....

Anine 08-04-2005 10:05 AM

Hello all!

I haven't posted much in this thread lately - first I wasn't allowed to finish the marathon I trained for all spring (max time 6 hours, I came to the 20k line 1 minute too late to be allowed to finish), then I got stuck on a weight loss plateau, and I just lost all interest in even trying to run and exercise in general.

Then I read an inspiring book a few weeks ago, and now I'm exercising in the morning 6 days a week, which I haven't done in a long time. Now the weight is moving down and I have signed up for another marathon in October (San Francisco Women's Marathon), so hopefully I will make it this time!

On Sunday I did my first long run for my marathon (12k on a threadmill - boring!) and on Tuesday and today I ran 5k in the morning. On Sunday I will do another long run, 15k this time (hopefully outside!) and maybe I'll squeese in another run some time tomorrow. It's good to be back in business!

YP1 08-04-2005 01:59 PM

I had a really good run on the treadmill this morning - 6k in just under 36 minutes. Instead of running at a steady pace like I usually do and getting bored I tried running 5 minutes normal pace, 1 minute fast x 6 and it felt so good - the normal pace seemed so much easier after a couple of fast minutes! I'm definitely going to try this again, and possibly increase the fast spells to 2 minutes once I get used to it as it felt fantastic, and the time went a lot quicker.

3fcuser1058250 08-04-2005 02:50 PM

Anine -- Sorry to hear that you worked so hard and weren't able to finish that marathon. BUT good for you for taking the bull by the horns and getting back at the running full speed... What is the name of that book that motivated you so get going again?...

I did a 10k on Saturday and I haven't run since... Dang this hot weather and the boring dreadmill where I get so bored after doing only 5k and get off... But I'm not complaining I love this hot weather...

MrsDawsondn 08-04-2005 03:10 PM

Hello guys I have officially registered for the 5K so I am definitely gonna do it. this morning I ran for 51 minutes I have no idea how far I went but I know I ran farther than I ever have. I think tomorrow morning I am going to walk instead of run to get ready for all of this.

Anine so glad to hear that your back into the swing of things too bad about that awful experience with the marathon but you'll be back out there in no time.

YP1 running intervals sounds like it's really working for you and that's great.

ilene just let us know when you get back out there and yes I know what you mean about this terribly hot weather whew!

YP1 08-04-2005 03:22 PM

Mrs Dawson, well done on signing up for the 5k! You'll love it, I'm sure. I got such a buzz out of running with a load of other people, compared to running on my own, and it inspired me to a time I've not got near since!

Anine 08-04-2005 03:41 PM

Originally Posted by Ilene:

It was 2 books actually, Bob Greene's Total Body Makeover and Pamela Peeke's Body for Life for Women. Reading those made me want to make a commitment to exercise again. They "promise" 2lb weightloss every week, and promote hard exercise and healty eating habits. The first is a 6 week plan and the other is a 12 week plan. I don't know what, but something "clicked" and I decided that I had to try again. I can always dedicate 6 or 12 weeks to this, at least after having completed a full marathon training program. I started to exercise a little, and then I signed up for the Marathon. This time I WILL make it, and hopefully look better too with fewer kilos of fat and more muscles!

It's good to be back here...

Only Me 08-04-2005 09:14 PM

This morning I did 14k at what should be a not overly challenging 1/2 marathon pace for me (based on my 10k time). It wasn't a problem to stay on pace, felt easy for the first 7ish km, then comfortably hard. I felt like I could have kept going longer. So, if I can keep it together on race day (just over 3 weeks away, gulp), and the weather cooperates, I might actually run as well in a 1/2 as in my training runs for it.

Dh and I are thinking of running a 5k race together this weekend. It might be fun to see if I can keep up with him. (My non-running husband can do a sub25 minute 5k). Either I'll burn out after the first couple of km, or competing with him will help me run faster.

Sweater Girl, good to hear that everything went smoothly with the biopsy. Hopefully the results are clear too. I like the 201 even though it sometimes has gps problems in certain areas. I've thought about upgrading to the 301 next Christmas, but I think that when I start doing heart rate training, I might not want to know just how slowly I'm going. My wrist feels bizarrely naked the few times I've forgotten to charge it or my kids have turned it on and let the batteries run down. I like watching my total km run go up in the log book too.

Ellen, I think the 301 does do intervals. A disadvantage of the 201 is that "rest" time/distance isn't included in the run total when you upload it. Supposedly this issue has been fixed with the 301 and some of its custom programming. You sound busy with marathon training and the personal trainer cert.

Anine, Good for you for getting back into exercise again. The time limit on our local marathon is one of a huge number of reasons why I've decided to wait a couple of years to try it.

Laura, Welcome! Very smart not to push yourself too hard when starting out

Celeste, I carry water with me on my long runs on Sundays (generally 16k and up). When it's hot and humid, I'll carry water with me on any run over about 30 minutes. Go by how you feel. This morning I ran 14k without water with no problems, but a couple of weeks ago when it was 70 and humid even at 6am, I'd bring water with me for the same distance. Some people prefer to carry water all the time.

taekwondomom 08-05-2005 01:55 AM

Wednesday was a running day for me. Too hot too run in the afternoon like I usually do so I ran about 8:30 at nite, got home right before it got too dark to see! I really liked running that late though, it was cool with a bit of a breeze and the sky was so beautiful. I bought a cheap $1 FM radio with headphones (and a little flashlight) so I could listen to a little music on my run. It was a nice addition even though the only radio station that would come in was an oldies station. :p
I ran 1.3 miles in 15 minutes :) I was very pleased with myself. Saturday is my next day to run, looking to run 1.5 miles with no walk breaks, and I'm looking forward to it.
I do have one question: Is it OK to run 4 days a week? I've been running 3 days a week and would like to add another day as I am enjoying it. :)

skinnyjeans 08-05-2005 12:55 PM

Hi everyone! I have been missing for a while here. Off running. Ha ha. Sounds like everyone is doing good and has reces coming up. I know I am running a 10mi in just 3 short weeks. I need to start getting in some longer miles on the weekends in order to make it!

Sweater Girl- Glad everything with the biopsy went well and the outliik is positive.

Laura-I think it would be fine if you ran four days a week if that is what you want to do. Try looking at your weekly total milage and increasing it by around 10%. That should prevent you from running too much even though you are running an additional day. Also, maybe start by your extra run being something easy, such as only .5 mi, or something fun such as intervals or fartleks. Until you are comfortable that four days a week is good for you?

3fcuser1058250 08-05-2005 01:19 PM

Just a quickie post.... 2 miles of hills on the :tread: this morning and a back and bicep workout...

LeanneM83 08-07-2005 10:11 AM

Hey everyone

well, I have to do 8 miles today, OMG this will be my longest run EVER....so I am somewhat nervous, but I KNOW I can do it...........fingers crossed, we'll see how it goes....

Leanne

3fcuser1058250 08-07-2005 11:18 AM

Good luck on your 8mile run Leanne hope it's not too hot in your neck of the woods...

Today I ran to and from the gym, only a total of 5k, but I had done a long 10k run yesterday and I don't usually run 2 days in a row... It was nice and coolish when I left here but when I left the gym an hour later it was getting hotter... It's gonna be a scorcher out today here...

TTFN

Only Me 08-08-2005 08:57 AM

Hi Everyone! Day off for me today. Good think too because it already felt hot when I left the house at 7am to drive some visitors to the train station. The weekend went well. 5k race Saturday, which I finished in 24:18 (And I didn't think I could do 5 minute kms for 5k!) Then a very slow 16k early Sunday morning. I didn't realize how tired my legs were from the race until I was already dressed and out the door, so I decided to keep going, take it slow, and make it a bit shorter than planned.

paperclippy 08-08-2005 09:29 AM

Congrats on the race Only Me! That's a great time!

I didn't get much running in last week (my legs were sore!), just my interval workout on Wednesday. I wanted to get a good start this week, but my heel felt like it had a splinter in it! I looked and looked but couldn't find anything. I think maybe it was just dry and cracking. Anyway, I managed to jog about 2 miles anyway -- once I had been out for a while it stopped hurting). I'm still a little bit sore from Thursday's circuit training class (90 squats, ouch!), but hopefully by Wednesday I will be in shape for my intervals!

MrsDawsondn 08-08-2005 12:00 PM

Hey guys,

I ran the 5k this past saturday non stop woohoo!!! I got passed up by many people and came in almost last but I did it! I ran the 5k In 41:20. I am just siked that I did it and thanking God every step of the way. Last year around this time I was 305lbs and I couldn't even run for 30 seconds so as you all can see this is a great accomplishment to me. I know that as I lose weight and continue to train I will gain speed and endurance but as for now I'm happy with where I am physically. I told another woman that was out there running with me that was beating herself up that I can only do what I can do I can't measure myself and my success with other people that were out there running, Everybody's got a story of their own and I can only do what I can do and that's it. If I'm the last runner to cross that finish line it doesn't bother me one bit. Shoot how many overweight Black women do you see out running? I can't count too many on one hand so i know that God is helping me to get to where I'm going. In the bible it states that the race is not given to the swift nor the battle to the strong but to him that endureth until the end. And that's what I'm doing, I'm enduring to the end.

They even had a Kids lil bug run and my babies participated in the run. My son ran 1/4 mile and came in second place, and my daughter ran 1/2 of a mile, something in which she states she will probably never do again but we still had fun and that's what mattered. Thanks you guys for all of your support you really don't know how much it means to me to get you all's replies and posts of encouragement.

3fcuser1058250 08-08-2005 12:21 PM

MrsD... What a great accomplishment!! I just checked out the pics at your site and you look beautiful...

OnlyMe... Great time on the run !!

Today was biking and leg workout!! It's all good...

LaMariposita 08-08-2005 01:13 PM

MrsDawsondn--Congrats on the 5K! That is a really great accomplishment, and you have such a great attitude. Keep up the running, it only gets easier as the pounds come off!

YP1 08-08-2005 01:40 PM

Well done on the 5ks everyone!

I did 10.5k on the treadmill this morning in 70 minutes which I'm really pleased with, for one reason and another I've not done a run over about 7 or 8k for a while so it was nice to get my legs going properly again.

MrsD - big *snaps* to you :cp: :cb: :bravo: I love what you said to the other woman. My goodness, you have done an amazing feat and I am so happy for you. One of the things I really like about running that your times are against your own "Personal Record" (PR) or "Personal Best" (PB) - so it is just about you and the clock, not anyone else. A year ago you could not have crossed that line except in your car, and today, you ran it in under 45 minutes. You are so cool!! You are right that this is about endurance - not just the race, but the "Big - Picture - Race", too - endurance and learning to find the love and joy along the way. You are a shining start to yourself and a fabulous example and role model to your family.

I now find myself thinking things like "oh, one mile until the next exit - I can run that." Have you started doing that yet??

One of the things that keeps me going - remember what they call the person who graduates last in his or her medical class - "Doctor"

OMG I do that!! When I'm driving and I get to a sign that says 21k I think that's a half marathon...and measure the distance in the car and think someone could run that in ''X' amount of hours, etc....

I ran today from 8am to 9am... dang it gets hot early... DH had gone for a bike ride just before I left and he said it was nice and ''cool'' out, I didn't say anything when I came home but his idea of ''cool'' and mine are very very different!! But all in all I had a good run I was out there for an hour so it's all good... We are going to the Museum of Civilisation in Hull today... Nice and cool in there...

TTFN gotta get ready to go...

sugarbianca 08-09-2005 11:26 AM

Hey guys ,
I just finished day wk 5 day 3 of the cp25k program, 20 minutes non-stop, i was realy nervous about it up to the time i was doing my warm-up walk, i never thought i would make it, buti did and it was not that bad. I helped that I was on a scenic path by the river, lots of company and a punch of women pushing strollers whom i didn't want to think i was a wimp.

YP1 08-09-2005 02:07 PM

I did a fast (for me) 5k on the treadmill this morning.

And then signed up for another 10k in November to make sure I keep my motivation going over autumn which is when I stopped exercising last year. Part of me wanted to try out the first one in September before making a final decision on whether to do both, but I know I might end up making excuses so I decided to get that entry in while I'm still excited by the idea!

MrsDawsondn 08-09-2005 04:17 PM

Thank you all so much for your encouraging words I really appreciate that!

Ellen you are so right I do that as well, On our last vacation and we'd be riding a mile out and it just seems so far away and I think like dang I can run that. I dunno but maybe because I run around the neighborhood and do alot of turning corners and up and down hills it just doesn't seem as far as one long mile stretch whew wee it looks far LOL. I was thinking that in the race because some roads were just a straight shot and I'd be thinking "Man I have to run THAT far " LOL. But it was cool.

Ilene what part of the country do you live in? Here in Cincinnati it has cooled down favorably (thank God) but I know the heat will be back LOL

sugarbianca way to go!!!!! So happy to hear you did the whole twenty minutes. Ya know sometimes I find myself trying to run faster or look fairly strong when running by or close to other people LOL what's up with that HAHA. Even on the residential streets that I run on I run @ 5:45-6:00am and there isn't any traffic but when a car does come by I run faster and try to push to feel as if I'm in competition or something LOL it's actually kind of silly but hey, it helps me with my timing LOL.

Yp1 I wish you the best of blessings in the upcoming 10 k in november! I pray you stay motivated this fall to do it, you can do it girlie I know ya can ;)

As for me I got up this morning and did a 49:02 minute run and decided to track it in my car because it felt pretty far although I've ran this route before and it was actually 3.4 miles I think that's the farthest I've ever run :O . My legs are a bit sore from the run as well as squats yesterday but I keep telling myself no pain no gain. Also I've heard runners talk about after running long distances their knees hurting well I experienced that today is that normal? If not can anyone give any tips on how to prevent it?

Also I noticed during the race and this morning a new tension. The middle of my back begins to get really tight while running beyond 3 miles, Anybody know any reason of why that would happen. I personally thought maybe I felt tension because my back muscles were in action but I've never felt my back muscles(lats, and traps, and stuff) have tension unless I was lifting weights. If anyone has any answers or thesis on what this could be please reply. I'll also post a thread about this.

Mrs. D -- Hi there ... I am in Eastern Ontario Canada and usually in August it starts getting cooler but this summer has been exceptionally hot and it hasn't cooled down yet... Other than when I run I love the sun and heat, I'm not looking forward to winter and snow :p ... I have been taking extra calcium and magnesium since I've been running... I also take Glucosamine, which DH and I swear by, I've recommended to 4 other people and they always come back telling me that it works... If I go a day or so without taking Glucosamine I get sore knees. I only take the regular Glucosamine and not the one with Chondroitin (sp?), someone told me that if Glucosamine works for me alone that it's cheaper than with Chondroitin...

About the back tension... Was this a ''race''? If it was maybe you were tense and it hit you in the back OR if it was a regular run day you just weren't relaxed. I've read to make sure your shoulders are relaxed when you run head up but also relaxed. Sometimes not all the time, I also get lower back tension when I get home, I stretch my back by puting my hands on my knees and rounding and arching my back... The Cat stretch which is a Yoga move, works really well too... get on your hand and knees and stretch your back like a cat would do, when your back is rounded tuck your chin to your chest and breath out, when it's arched breath out and look up. Hold each position for 5-10 seconds... I'm no pro but this helps me a lot...Hope this helps, take care now...

Well I'm off

I have a training question for you guys. I've not posted to your thread before, but I have been reading your posts. And thinking I should post, but...

Well, a little about me. I started a beginning running program with my local running club back in April. We trained for a 5k, I finished in 44 minutes...(see that's the main reason I've not posted to this thread, I'm so slow  )

The running club had a 2nd beginning running summer program so I continued with it- 2 x a week as a group, and on our own 2x roughly 40 minutes, including warm up, cool down and stretching. I've been doing some stuff on my own like weight training 2x , biking 1x, walking 1.5-3 miles-usually because I've missed my bus and it's faster to walk then to wait for the next one. But recently my knees have started to bother me. I'm not sure if I'm over doing it. And last weekend I was so tired that everytime I sat down I fell asleep.

How do you recover from over training? And how do you know when it's ok to add a little more to your training? Some people can run for hours at a time and still go to the gym and do weights. Not that I'm comparing myself to them but still on the days I'm not running I would like to do something else.

I would like to see the scales go down again, the real reason I started running.

Sorry for being so windy...
Sarah
