Well, first of all, I think your pedomete will work better with the R on the end. LOL JK
I could never get mine even remotely close using the step calculation. Plus, I use mine for walking and running. What I ended up doing was setting it by the step calculation then taking it on the treadmill and adjusting it accordingly. I ended up with two settings...one for walking and one for running and put a sticker on the back of it to tell me the number of steps to put in for each. So if I'm going for a run, I can change the steps to get the accurate total. I got a good workout just setting it too. I would run for 15 minutes and if the pedometer didn't have exactly 15 minutes when I was done, I'd fiddle with the step input until it came out exact with my run time.
