That is so awesome~! Way to go~! Keep up the great work and you'll be to goal in no time~!

Tealeaf 04-13-2005 01:35 PM

Hey, you started out at the exact same weight I did! It's so nice to hear that this is working for you. I keep having to fight this irrational fear that every pound I lose will be the very last one I do. It's nice to hear from someone who is proving that this might not be the case at all!

Like you, I am focusing on exercise not just diet. It's uplifting for me to hear that it is working so well for you!

StephiePoo 04-14-2005 09:12 PM

Congratulations! I hope to have those wonderful results after going to Curves a little longer!

didi123 04-18-2005 01:27 PM

Hi Everyone...
I'm going to post daily to try to get this thread moving a bit.
Anyway...I'm starting my 2nd week at Curves and I love it. I didn't think I would since I used to belong to a "regular" gym, but I do. I'm not seeing anything move on the scale yet (but then again, I haven't changed my eating habits yet). I figure I'll do one step at a time...getting into the exercise groove and then start my healthy eating.
I also want to start doing the treadmill on the alternate days ..I go to curves on MWF..
My first W & M won't be til May 11th or so...and I'm very sure that I will lose inches by then...
Congrats to you Kelly....that's a great loss....
Let's try to inspire each other okay? I know I need it..

Di

didi123 04-19-2005 08:13 AM

How's everyone doing? Is there anyone left on this board? Well, I'll just continue posting here cuz it's theraputic for me.
I went to Curves last night which started my 2nd week, I really enjoy it. I'm contemplating on getting the book for the curves diet, although as you can see by my signature, I've done South Beach and Body for Life, but I can't seem to stick with anything. I think my husband doesn't take me seriously about losing weight since I've been saying it for so long now. I'm wondering why I'm unable to do it too...why do I have NO willpower and motivation to keep me going? At least I'm going to Curves on a regular basis...it's much easier for me due to time constraints and since it's on my way home from work and only a 5 min ride home from there, it's really fitting into my schedule, so I know that I'll be able to maintain the exercise portion of things. I really need to understand why I have this obsession over food, even thinking of discussing it with my primary care to see if she recommends me seeing someone about it...
Well....hope everyone is doing well and I'm open to any suggestions and would love to hear from anyone doing the Curves diet along with the exercise program...

Mercee 04-20-2005 10:48 AM

Hi Di,

I also attend Curves I really love it. I'm excited to finally have found an exercise program I can stick with. I currently am following weight watchers the core program. I am thinking of switching to the Curves low carb option. What diet are you currently doing?

ThatbabyMadeMeFat 04-20-2005 01:50 PM

I go to Curves as well. For people who slag on it and say it isn't a "real" gym, I lost 61 inches in about 4 months going there.. and then I got pregnant. :) But now I'm back and this is my second week. I LOVE IT. I have started going twice a day as often as I can.. mainly because it's my "Me" time and I get a break from the kids. It will be interesting to see what my first measurements are with going as often as I do. When I went previously I would do 3 circuits once a day.

didi123 04-20-2005 03:33 PM

Hi Mercee and That Baby....
It's so good to not be talking to myself today..haha...
Mercee...I haven't starting the "dieting" or eating healthy portion yet..I haven't decided on what program to use or just use my own. I've tried WW but I have a habit of not sticking to it..
ThatBabyMadeMeFat...lol..I love your screenname...61 inches!!! wowowowow....that was awesome progress.
I'm really hoping I can stick with it..I'm going tonight since I'm doing MWF.....
Keep me posted on your progress..

Thanks
Di

ItstimeforME 04-22-2005 01:15 PM

My goal is to be down to 199 by the 15th of June and Im hitting yet another plateau I will be happy to be down at least maybe 10 or 15. I hit curves everyday and I do a step class once a week. Got to get more fat off LOL.

ellenuw 04-22-2005 01:54 PM

I applaud all you Curves ladies - good for you for doing something so positive for yourself! I started at Curves in Oct '03 and continued until last summer when I decided I had the confidence and endurance and was ready for something more and joined a small private gym and hire a personal trainer. I am now trying to take my body to the next step. I would never been where I am today if it wasn't for Curves.

Please relax and don't stress too much about the food. Concentrate for 30 days to get into the routine and discipline to go to Curves 3x a week and do 30 -45 minutes of cardio on the other days. Then start working food issues. Do not get too hung up on the weight loss numbers. This is different from most programs in that you are building muscle immediately while losing fat. There is a good reason that your weigh-ins and measurements are only once a month. Try to resist the scale in between and use the "pants-o-meter" instead. As muscle builds faster than you lose fat, give yourself 2 months to see dramatic inches and pounds lost. Also, remember, there is no one perfect diet for all of us out there. You will have to experiment and see which one works best for you. To add more complexity, the one that works for you today may not work tomorrow. Don't beat yourself up for not being able to "stick to" something if it is wrong for you. I, too, tried them all. Low carb makes me crazy, but my workout buddy lost over 50 pounds with Atkins (as written, not spending months in induction). I lost over 50 pounds doing my version of a WW/SB combo that is closest to WW Core (now that they came out with that). Take a look at the Curves program - they offer both a low carb and low cal version. Your local Curves will probably offer a 12 week class this spring, so be sure to ask about it.

Best of luck ladies, and know I am rooting for you!

didi123 04-22-2005 04:45 PM

Hi Kelly & Ellen,

Well girls...I'm off to my workout...
hope all is well..

My name is Rachel and I'd like to join this thread. I recently rejoined Curves, and I plan on going at LEAST 4 times a week, and go on the stationary bicycle for 15 minutes on the days I am not at Curves. I need to lose about 60 more pounds, so wish me luck! ;)

ItstimeforME 04-22-2005 07:45 PM

What a great bunch of ladies you all are. If your a first timer at curves it is fun and there are no MEN that inhibit you if your that kind of person. Like I said I go 6 days I feel if I don't get my curves fix IM in withdrawl LOL. Keep up the positive attitudes ladies.

Hi all,

Today I return to Curves after a week off due to severe ear infections. I go MWF so I am excited. I am doing weight watchers core program I have been at a standstill for a month now. So I think I will look into the curves programs for a change of pace.

Congratulations to everyone! You're all doing wonderful! ;)

ellenuw 04-27-2005 07:05 PM

... the hardest step is the one out of the door. You ladies ROCK!! Keep up the effort and you will see and feel the rewards. I am following you with my heart as Curves was such an important part of getting me where I am today. You can do it, too.

momX3 04-28-2005 12:13 AM

Hi Ladies :D

So glad I found the "Curves Group". I just had my first weigh/measure/workout on April 22. I'm loving it so far. I have gone everyday since I started except today. Today I decided to walk on the treadmill to mix things up a little bit and let me tell you it really made me miss Curves.

I was going to do a protein diet but I have decided I am going to try to eat healthy. I have heard if you eat 5 or 6 healthy small meals a day it helps you lose so that is what I am trying.

I have lost and gained weight so many times in my life and I just want to be healthy so I can watch my kids grow and give me lots of grandkids

Thanks

beansbag 04-28-2005 05:34 AM

:dizzy: 1st time post for me! i go to curves and started the7 week challenge in februry. so far i have lost 42 lbs nd 46 inches. we just started an aerobics class once a week that beats the crud out of me! :) but i'll still go back today!

momX3 04-28-2005 12:18 PM

Way to go Beansbag :D That is truly amazing!!

How much more do you have to go?

Keep up the good work.

lateralus98 04-28-2005 10:32 PM

Yay!

I went back to Curves today, and I lost two more pounds! This is INSANE! Is this normal? Four pounds in a week? I know it's all water weight, but I don't care! I'm just happy it's GONE!!! :D

I'm so bad about weighing in. I don't weigh in every time I'm at Curves, but it's so hard not to! I just weighed myself Monday, and then I weighed myself again today (I just couldn't resist!). It's a habit! :)

I've been at it only 2 weeks now, and I've lost about 14 pounds. If you count from March 2005, I've lost 19 pounds! :dizzy: I re-joined Curves exactly 10 days ago, and I've been 6 times since then. Let's hope I can keep it up!!

You guys are such an inspiration to me! We can do this together.

ItstimeforME 04-29-2005 08:31 AM

Good for you, and you will be surprised how much is NOT water weight when you do your monthly weigh in. My first month I lost like 17 lbs and I thought oh yeah 10 of that is water but really only like 6 of it was. Keep up the good job. Im still holding I have to quit my lil cheats at night and I will be back on the loss track.

momX3 04-29-2005 10:52 AM

questions

Hi Ladies -

Is is o.k. to go to curves everyday or do you need to rest your muscles?

How much have you all lost your first month? I did'nt get real serious until Monday but I cheated  and stepped on the scale this morning and it puts me down 3 pounds which I'm happy with but 1) it's not the same scale and 2) I did'nt weigh myself on it before I started. Anyway I'm just curious what the norm is. Is it true that you are going to either lose weight or inches but not alot of both at the same time?

I already feel so much better. I actually have energy for the first time in a long time :) .

ItstimeforME 04-29-2005 11:06 AM

I go M-Sat and I do intense on M W F and on off days very light more cardio. Sat It all depends on my mood. They SUGGEST 3 days, but I like to go all 6 bc of the atmosphere. IT is a mood booster for me.

I have been going since Dec 28th and in the first month I lost like 17 lbs. Today Im down 37 lbs and 36.5 inches. From a size 24 to an 18 and some 16's. Going for 50 more lbs.

momX3 04-29-2005 11:38 AM

Wow Kelly -

I am most impressed by your inches lost. I am now in a 22/24 and would love to be able to get into a 16. It's been SOOO long. You are doing such an awesome job ;) I hope I can do as well as you.

I also love the feeling you get when you walk through the door of Curves. It's so nice to have women who won't judge when you can't do the leg press so well because of all the extra padding around your middle .

Thank You and keep up the Great work.

ItstimeforME 04-29-2005 01:38 PM

Just to let you know I DRASTICAL changed my eating habits. AS of Dec 26 2004 I went LOW carb. I have had NO bread, pasta, soda, potatos, ANY junk at all even my fav chocolate. I drink at the least 120 oz of water a day. So that had a big deal of it all. I even switched to Decafe coffee.

Mercee,
I don't post very much recently, but I just saw this... I've been a member of curves since June 04 and doing the curves low carb since October 2004- look me up if you have any questions! it's working for me!

my stats:
since June 30, 2004
lost 40 inches
lost 29.75 lbs
lost 18.78 Body fat lbs!

momX3 04-29-2005 03:32 PM

Hi Kelly -

I have tried the low carb and been successful but I don't like it :( . I am just eating 5 to 6 small meals a day and trying to stay away from flour and such as best I can. Lots of fruits and vegtables and lots and lots of water.

I am an ice cream nut. I swear I'm addicted :^: . Anything sweet was my motto. I was not even eating regular meals. I have changed all that.

I went to curves Mon, Tues, Thurs. and plan to go today. Wed. I did the treadmill but would prefer to go to curves. I just want to mix it up a little so I don't get bored and I can stick to it. I tend to start out strong then peter out. That's why I joined this board to get inspiration from others going through the same thing.

didi123 04-29-2005 04:07 PM

Wow.....this board is really picking up!! yeah!!
I can't wait to get my computer hooked up at home...it's so hard for me to come here in work...
everyone is doing such a great job...KUDOS to all of us..:-)
I'm going to Curves tonight, I missed going on Wednesday and I can't wait to get back there tonight..
Haven't lost any poundage....but I definately feel much better...
My first WI isn't til May 11th....
I hope everyone has a great weekend....see you all on Monday..
