Hi everyone! I ran 1.8 miles on Monday and I did 0.65 miles on the treadmill this morning. I also did over a mile on the elliptical this morning.

LM - Good luck on the tough mudder!! Those are awesome!

I am running this evening becuase I cant do my long run saturday now...i have to work 10 hours. I will see what I can squeak out this evening..

Beck 10-18-2012 10:53 PM

I ran 4 interval miles yesterday and 5 easy miles today. I've been exhausted the past 2 days, but pushed myself to get my runs in despite fatigue, of course, once I'm out the door, in the fresh air, and feeling the pavement under my feet I'm no longer fatigued- I'm refreshed. Running love!

Tomorrow is rest day and Saturday is cross-train (I'll most likely walk for an hour or so).

Happy miles, ladies!

Well Migraine broke yesterday but it was a work day as well as today so no running on work days..this time of year its still HOT here in the 90's in the pm. But had my exercise class last night she is always switching it up to kick our butts! Last night it was HITT Intervals. I tend to really push my self and the person I was partnered with was maybe 24 and in great shape and as you all know I am 60. It was 4 stations 3min intense 1 min less the stations were crazy.Jump rope, bouncing basket ball across gym back and forth as fast as you can, shuffling side ways zig zagging between cones then running backwards between them as fast as you can,the other one was picking up bean bags running across gym dropping them and picking up another and running back again as fast as you can. The 1 min rest were hula hoop, crunches, leg bands, arm bands. So guess it did not hurt to much to missing running!!She of course was faster but I think I shocked her;]

In the morning I have my ONE YEAR anniversay run this year a 10k run breast cancer {not a 5k run walk} with my friends that got me started I was the last one last year, am doing the longest run this year!

Hey runners!

Accomplished one of my goals today - ran 13.1 miles straight. I felt great until mile 11 and then it suddenly hit me. I was passing just next to my house at that time and **almost** quit, but kept on. Mile 12-13 almost killed me, but I am happy I kept going. Hip flexors are a little sore so I'm about to do an easy Rodney Yee Yoga DVD and stretch out a little.

Total time was 1:52:30.

Jen

Wow, everyone is doing so great!

Devadiva: so sorry to hear about the migraine... was dealing with one last week as well but fortunately it only lasted a day. And congratulations on your anniversary run!

CherryPie: How great! And what a time!

I've been trying to get more miles in as well since I had a few days off and wanted to take advantage of that. usually i find it hard to make time for longer runs. so i ran a total of 35k in 3 days which is alot for me. the longest run was 14k (8.7miles, the furthest I ever went) and I did it with a pace of under 6min/km. yay. running a half marathon next september doesn't seem impossible anymore.

masterptr 10-21-2012 07:23 AM

Cherry,
OMG....
your time is AWESOME!!!

Tabbycat 10-21-2012 11:32 AM

Hi y'all.

This thread is both intimidating and inspiring... do you know what I mean?

I'm an oldie in age (56) and a newbie to running. I go jogging/trotting around the neighborhood. I have a two mile route and a three mile route. When I started six months ago it took 28 minutes to do two miles. Now I can do it in under 23 minutes, and the three miles in under 37 minutes.

I did a 5K last weekend and did EVERYTHING wrong! I didn't want food or water jigging around in the stomach so I didn't eat or drink that morning. It was in the upper 80's (I'm on the Houston-Galveston coast) and very humid. My back hurts so much in the mornings that I took aspirin (on an empty stomach) and that made my stomach upset (I didn't figure out until later that aspirin should be taken with food). And I started too fast. I didn't realize I was going faster than my usual pace until I reached the one mile flag and looked at my watch. Between all those mistakes I really did poorly... my legs and breathing felt fine but my stomach was so queasy I had to walk part of the way and took over 39 minutes to finish.

I'm going to do another 5K Dec 1 and I hope I learned from these mistakes. :)

Novangel, do you like Xena: Warrior Princess? I love Xena! I like to wear a Xena shirt when I jog.

masterptr 10-21-2012 11:38 AM

Tabbycat, Good job on the 5K!!

Hello everyone
I am officially into the PMS zone and I am babying my body by taking it easy.
did 5 miles outside, 5.5 inside today
Eat day... YaHoooo!!!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

Beck 10-21-2012 04:03 PM

Ran 10.2 this morning, then went up to Newburyport, MA to drive the course of the 1/2 marathon I"m running in 2 weeks. It's a gorgeous course, and I'm so excited to run it. There was another 1/2 going on at the time, so didn't drive the course exactly as laid out, but got a good feel for the scenery and lay of the land. The 1/2 that was taking place was this one: http://www.newburyporthalfmarathon.com/

Maybe I'll do both next year (yes, that may be a little ambitious of me, but why not aim big?).

I hope we get the same sort of weather like today- clear, cool, and dry. I also hope the leaves stay on the trees the next few weeks; the foliage was just great.

Happy running, everyone!!

I ran my half-marathon today, the Detroit Free Press International , which crosses the border into Canada on a large bridge over the Detroit River, then crosses back in the Detroit/Windsor tunnel (featuring the only underwater mile in a marathon) -- it was really cool and really hard!

I was trying for a time of 2:30 and almost made it. I did 2:32. Not too bad for someone who is still quite heavy, not too young, and has never run over 11 miles. Those last two miles were killer! Here's a picture of the bridge with the sun coming up over Detroit:

Beck & defenestrator,
Awesome Job!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!
