Morning All
Well, I was a bad girl and didn't get my workout in yesterday:( Stuff just happened and I didn't have time and then when I was ready, my throat was getting real sore, so I made some hot green tea and watched DH do his workout! Had planned on exercising after DS's soccer, but was too tired. Today my sore throat is gone, I feel good and I WILL get my workout in! I have to do it early cause we're going to my folks this afternoon for Father's day dinner. CAN'T HAVE ANY EXCUSES TODAY! I'll use yesterday as my "off" day. MIKI--YES! Your wee niece is a real cutie! That's nice of you to give your sister a little break by taking Kaylen for a couple of days. Running around after her will give you lots of exercise! CHACHEE--I hear you girl! I don't know what it is--my arms aren't long enough or something--but I can't swing my leg thru with the ease everyone on the video does. I can't get it thru at all. I always come up short. We'll just have to keep working on it and we'll get better. I'm gonna go and get in my workout in a few minutes--right after DS is finished watching Scooby Doo!:lol: Keep up the hard work Power Girls and we'll be looking GREAT in no time! |
Hi girls. I'm finally BACK in the game. I decided to give my lungs a rest last night and not try another Slim Series, since I was still coughing, so I dug out one of my Corey Everyson, "Get Hard," tapes and did arms and shoulders. She does a fast-paced, 30 minute biceps, triceps and shoulders by doing supersets of 3 sets of 12 reps for each exercise.
Got a really nice burn and sweat going, felt GOOD after nearly 9 days of hap-hazard attempts to work out. Next week, SS, here I COME! :) Have a good and safe weekend! |

Just finished the weight circuit! Hooray for me! I'm gonna have to increase my weights ALREADY for the back exercises :strong:

Just finished cardio/ab work. I HATE power yoga! Oh well, we gotta do what we gotta do! I didn't get in a second workout yesterday, so I guess Thursday was my "off" day.
Checked my measurements yesterday and I've lost a total of 3 1/2 inches in two weeks! We're going to a pool party this afternoon. The sun is just now breaking thru after several dreary days. Supposed to get nice and warm. I'm bringing a special cake and some balloons as 5 of the gang that will be there turn 40 this year. I thought it would be fun if we all celebrated together. I'll try to be good and only have a wee piece of cake. Hope every one has a wonderful weekend. Power on, Girls! |

Well, even with Kaylen here, yesterday is the only day I missed doing my workout and to make up for it, I did yesterday's and today's both today. Thurs nite she did the Stretch tape with me...it was the cutest thing seeing her do it! She was really serious about it too. I couldnt let her see me laugh. Eating wise for the most part I've done really well for the last few days EXCEPT yesterday. Luke, my 11 yr old, and I ate at Red Lobster on the way home from Shreveport, and I had the Shrimp Pasta. Full order too, not half.:o I was soooooooo full afterwards. But it was worth it.:s: Friday was the end of my 2nd week doing Power Half Hour. So far, my measurements havent seemed to change. I'm going to take an "after" pic anyway I think just to compare again. Hopefully at least if I havent gotten smaller, what I've got is toned more. Well, better run. After being off for most of the last 3 weeks, I have to go back tomorrow and work everyday for the next few weeks. I've gotten spoiled to being off, for sure. I dread tomorrow already. I'm 'part-time' but usually work everyday except during times my kids are out of school. This summer tho I'm filling in for several people's vacations which means working 2 weeks then being off a few days, then working 2 weeks again. Well, I was a bad girl yesterday. Didn't do my workout. No particular reason, other than I really, really wasn't interested. I'm thinking of doing 2 workouts today. DH is working extra this evening, so I know I'll do a workout then and I think I'll do one early, after taking DS to school. I'll let you all know! I was tempted to get on the scale yesterday, but decided not to. That old metal monster just plays head games with me. I'll go by how my clothes fit. We finally had some nice weather here this weekend. Went to a pool party on Saturday and had a nice time with our friends. I brought dessert--a cake for the 5 people there that turn 40 this year. I had 2 small pieces. I did well with the rest of the food, veggies and fruit, salad, a bit of steak and a bit of salmon. I did have 2 drinks tho:o . Oh well, only do that once in a while. Oh, the bathing suit I wore seemed to fit nicer than I remember it doing when I bought it a couple of months ago! MIKI--You are doing AWSOME with the exercise! Sorry the tape measure hasn't moved for you. I think I saw such a dramatic difference because when I took my first measurements, it was right before my TOM and I was probably all bloated. Good for you to set an example for your niece! I can just imagine her doing the workout with you! My DS sometimes does part of the workout with me and darn it all he can do the dreaded Power Yoga! I think having an "off day" for eating once in a while is a good thing. That way you don't feel like you're being deprived of anything. CHACH--You sound busy! Hooray for getting in your workout! KRISTIN--how was your camping weekend? Ok Power People, I'm outta here for now. I promise to get in a workout this morning, and I really think I'll be doing one tonight. I upped my weights today. Moved up from 5 to 8 pounds. Boy, I can really feel it now. It's all I can do on some of those exercises to get the last two reps in. I guess that's how it's suppossed to feel, huh? I would be willing to bet that I will be one sore puppy tomorrow. Grr...... Felt good, though. Miki: Great job on the exercise! Don't stress about the tape measurer or the scales. I have packed, by mistake, my measurement book and I can't get to it for at least another month. I think that's a good thing. I would be real tempted right now to measure or weigh, but I'm staying off and waiting until the first thirty days to get my measurements. Susanne: Good job on the eating. I had a couple of drinks at that party last weekend, but I don't do that but maybe twice a year so I didn't feel too bad. Congrats on the swim suit. It's a nice feeling, isn't it? Coach and Mindi...where you at? I exercised so much yesterday that I was sore this morning. Did the cardio, went walking and biking. I was actually able to make it up one of the big hills without feeling like I was going to pass out! I even did better than my husband who is in the military and totally athletic. Wahoo! Well back to work today after lots of time off lately. Wasnt looking forward to it but I was really busy so the day went by fast. I even got up at 6 a.m. and did my Abs tape before going to work at 8. Then hubby came in this afternoon at 5:30 ready to do his so I did it again with him.:strong: :cb: Zanne, you have such willpower with those scales. I'm addicted to them..I step on them every time I happen to pass by them.:lol: I dont know why I do because they always make me mad but I cant seem to stop. Glad you had a good time at the pool party. Chach, how cool you outdid hubby on the big hill. Dont you just love it?:D All that exercise plus upping your weights..WOW! Guys I had a really busy day at work yesterday, got home late and didn't have the time to do a 78 min SS workout, so I substituted one of my Firms. I really enjoy this one, Body Sculpting w/Jen, who's my fav Firm instructor. Its a good, solid total body workout and I'm a little sore this am.
Tonite I HOPE 'fingers crossed' to try one of them all the way through...if i can make it that is! LOL |

Let me just say this: POWER YOGA IS THE DEVIL! Heehee. I had a hard time with it today. Must be because the arms are a big fatigued from upping my weights yesterday. Miki: Oh, a nice bubble bath sounds like heaven. I don't hardly ever have time for that. Great job on the workouts! You go! Mindi: 78 minutes? Wow, that's a long workout. I've never heard of the "Firm" series. What is it? Aerobics or weights? Susanne: Did you get your workout in? I know last time you said you hadn't and wasn't motivated. Need a kicker in the rear? Hi Girls! Only have a minute so cant post much. I didnt make that bubble bath last nite so I got smart. Today I came home and did that FIRST!!:D I got up at 6 a.m. again today and did my Thigh workout. It's cool getting it out of the way early in the day. I'm so tired after working all day that Im scared if I wait I might not have enough motivation to get it done. Had Mexican for lunch tho so foodwise I didnt do great.:^: Well gotta run for now...I'll post more tomorrow.

Chachee, the Firm is a series of workouts that combines areobics w/weights, however some of the workouts are all weight training too. They use a tall step called a 'fanny lifter,' that is killer for buns and legs. An excellent series! You can catch the newest set on their infomerical, seen on Lifetime most frequently or go here:

They're MUCH more reliable and faster to order from. They'll also match prices! yes the SS is LONG! I'm going to have to often split the workout. Thank God for DVDs! I'm very very sore today after working in my yard, weeding and doing an intense leg workout yesterday. Didn't do a video, just didn't feel like it. Instead I did my own thing and worked out w/my step, barbell and body bar. I use it to help me get a perfect lunge and my legs are FEELING it today! Tonite I think I'll do the stretch SS video. I got my cardio walk in and the Circuit tape also. Still at that 8 pound weight, and the last couple of reps are still killing me. I guess that's good, huh? Miki: Great job on the exercise. I agree with you that I always feel better once the workout is done and in the books early in the day. For me, that means getting it done by 10:00 am, as I work evenings. Mindi: Thanks for the info on the Firm series. I think I'll scoot on over there and check it out. Anything to lift my fanny is much appreciated!! Sounds like your workouts are doing well also. Well, I found my way back here. I kind of felt not worthy enough to post. I have been bad and hadn't been exercising. I was so psyched up to do 2 workouts Monday and that fell thru after I had to take some allergy meds and I was a slug all day. Tuesday it was like a train station with people in and out of our house. Yesterday, I don't really have an excuse. BUT I EXERCISED THIS MORNING!!! I've still been reading all your posts and you've kept me inspired. MIKI and CHACH--I'm going to have to be like you and MAKE myself workout early. Otherwise I won't get it in. As I was heaving the dumbbells off the rack, they felt really heavy and I thought I'd have to lessen the weights. But I made it thru with the heavier weights.:strong: It's going to take me a while to develop this new habit of exercising. I've decided to not start all over again with my 90 days, but to just pick up where I left off. The good thing is that I've exercised more in a month than I have in a year. I want to give myself a great 40th birthday present of good health and fitness and I've only got 10 more months to do it. CHACHEE--please feel free to kick me in the rear anytime!!! Sometimes I need a little help getting started. MIKI--Glad you got your bubble bath. We have to remember to take some time for ourselves. MINDI--WOW! Doing your own thing! I don't think I could workout on my own. I need someone there to tell me what to do-even if the someone is on my TV. You all are so inspiring. I think all of your posts help me get back on track. Good afternoon, Power Girls.
Well, after a two hour argument with myself on the pros and cons of working out today or taking today as my day off, I finally got off my big ol' butt and did the cardio and abs. Something about that Power Yoga that was whispering in my ear saying, "Aw, come on, you deserve to take your day off today." Damn Yoga! Actually, once I got in and played the DVD, the yoga didn't seem to be a problem today. I notice as my push ups get stronger, the power yoga gets a little easier. Now, I'm not saying it's a breeze...Lord knows it's not, but it isn't as hard as it was three weeks ago. Susanne: Did we start P90 on the same day? I started June 2nd. I think that's the day you did also. That makes us good partners. We all get down and off track, but the important thing is to pick yourself up out of the slump and get back on track. You did that and now we can move forward! I know you can do it! Gotta head over to Ebay and big on some Shrek stuff for my son's bday. He loves it and it's old enough now that Shrek stuff isn't actively stocked in the stores. Off to Ebay.... I think I will try to last until Sunday for my day of rest. I hope I can make it. Hi Girls! I didnt make it in to post yesterday because my cousin/best friend is in from California. She moved there this past Oct and until then we have always lived within 5 miles of each other. Needless to say we had LOTS of catching up to do. I did exercise yesterday morning but havent gotten in any today. This is actually my 'rest day' but so far I've always at least done a stretch tape on that day. Not sure if I'll work that in this time or have a REAL rest day. I do have to confess...my eating is AWFUL right now. Since Vicki (my cousin) was here last nite, of course we had to eat. Today was a co-worker's last day so we had a going away party with more food. Saturday I have a family reunion with MORE food.:dizzy: Oh and I keep forgetting Sunday is my anniversary. Starting Monday, I've got to get strict again with my food plan!!
Susanne, I turned 40 in March. That's exactly why in October I started trying to get healthier and eat right and exercise etc. I was panicking because everyone says it is harder after 40. I have to say I do feel much better now than I did this time last year for sure. This time next year, you'll be glad you did this also. :) Mindi, I think I might try the Firm series once I finish the Power Half Hour. I've heard good things about it. Chach...good for you for doing that Power Yoga today! How did your search for Shrek go? Find any cool stuff on Ebay? Where's Kristin??? I hope she's doing well. Well did two workout tapes yesterday ( stretch and arms ) BUT havent done any today.:^: My eating has still been awful the last several days BUT tomorrow is back to business on that! Instead of doing something by ourselves for our anniversary today, Phil and I took the kids to see The Hulk" and then to eat Chinese. Now I'm too full to exercise.:dizzy: Chachee, lounging around in pjs sounds like the life to me!;) Mindi, I've never tried Taebo. Does sound like a good stress reliever tho. Well, I didnt get my workout in yesterday or today. I worked from 8 a.m. til 6 p.m., then we went out to eat and ran by to see Vicki one more time before she leaves for California tomorrow. Just got home and it's 9:30 already so I guess yesterday will be last week's rest day and today is this week's.:lol: Tomorrow I'll be sure to do it before work instead of waiting. Too many things get in the way by afternoon and nite.

It seems it's going to take me some time to make this exercising a habit. Whatever the excuses, I missed 4 days in a row. I did one day and then missed 3 more days. I was embarassed to come here to post that I did nothing, cause you all are so dilegent with your workouts.
I started again yesterday. I haven't given up, so I guess that's a good thing. I've buddied up with someone who is also starting over, so I think that we can keep each other motivated. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the cardio today. There's a lot of jumping and other things that might stress my knees. I did something to one knee yesterday while doing squats. I had to put a brace on it for a bit. The slightest wrong move sent pain shooting up my leg. It feels ok this morning, but I"m not sure yet just how good. I may do a half hour of the elliptical as my cardio. MIKI--Glad you had a good time with your sister. CHACHEE--Schedule changes can be tough. You are very committed, so I'm sure you'll do well with your workouts. MINDI--I'd love to do Taebo, but the kicks would wreck me. I have bad hips and knees. The little bit of kicking in Power 90 is about all I can manage, and even with toning it down some, one of my hips still pops. But I love the punches:s: Great way to get out frustrations. Well, I just want to say "thank you" to you ladies. You keep me inspired even when I think I should just throw in the towel. I really want to complete my committment to myself of getting healthy and fit for my 40th. I'll be back later! |
Zanne, now and then my sciatica acts up so I'm pretty careful w/the Taebo kicks too. There are days that I modify BIG time. But I still love Billy and his motivation is no. 1 for me.
Don't know if any of you are familar w/Cathe Friedrich, (www.cathe.com), I worked out w/her Pryamid Upper Body last night and am SORE today..I think I'll rotate her into a Slim Series 6wk plan and see what happens. |

Well, I didn't do the Power 90 cardio yesterday. BUT I DID do 20 minutes on the elliptical. At about 17 minutes I could feel twinges in the knee, so I didn't want to push it and really injure it. I'm going to try doing sculpt today, I'll just have to be careful with the lunges and squats. It's been really hot here the past few days. Low to mid 90s. I'm really glad I do my exercising inside! MINDI--I've heard sciatica can be painful. Poor you when you suffer with it. I'm careful with my knees and hips cause it seems my family is prone to bad joints. Several family members have had to have hip or knee replacements. I'd rather not go thru that. How's everyone else doing? I'm outta here. Got to get a few groceries before it gets too hot. |
Just a quick note for me today. I have been in an intense class all week and working days. I have been able to get some workouts in, but not as many as I would have liked to.
My brain is fizzling!! We had a two hour lecture yesterday on skin cells and when fingerprints are developed as a fetus when hands develop......long and boring. Okay, I'll check in later when I have time. Chach |

Zanne, dont feel bad and PLEASE dont ever not come post because you're embarrassed. I havent exercised since Saturday!:o :( I just cant seem to get up early enough this week to do it before work and then after work, I've been too tired. It didnt help that my sis has been on vacation and not here to keep me motivated to do it with her. She came home today tho, thank goodness! I am so disgusted with myself for missing my 4th day of exercise today. I was doing so well I just cant give up now! I think the main thing is that we don't give up. We might end up having a few "off" days, but I think as long as we get back to working out, we'll be ok.
I didn't get in a workout yesterday either. It's been really hot here and the pollution is bad--they're telling people with breathing and heart conditions to stay inside in air conditioned places and take it easy (I have asthma). I walked my DS to and from school (and coming home is almost all uphill), so about an hour walking in total. Maybe I can count that as a workout!:) I didn't feel quite right last night. I think even just the little bit I was out, the heat had got me. I know my back was burnt in that short time. My knee still complained this morning when I came downstairs. So I think I will just do the dumbell lifting and maybe the dreaded pushups:p --just not the lunges and squats and then I can try to get in some time on the elliptical. I'm hoping to stick to this game plan. As long as I make myself do something more than I normally do. Gotta go now. Have a great day Power Girls! |
Ok, bad as I didnt want to...I did a little exercise today!:cp: I didnt do my workout tape, but I did 20 min on my XL Glider. I was sweating in just that length of time. I know it's not much, but it's more than I've done all week! Now if I can just get the eating back on track. I only have to work 3 days next week so my sis and I plan to get back into heavy exercise again on the days I'm off.

Well, I didn't get in any workouts as I had planned yesterday. Got a call from my mom in the morning that they had some kind of plumbing problem. So I went over and fixed it ...so I thought. I still had a leak in a connection and found I needed a part. DS had soccer last night, so we all went back after soccer to the folks' to finish the job. I did all the hard work and DH took 2 minutes to put in the new part! I have to go back today with our carpet cleaner to suck all the water that leaked into the carpet.
But I think my arms and back muscles got a good workout with those wrenches and all. :lol: I am sore today! MIKI--Hooray for you for getting in some exercise. Good news you and your sister will be getting back on track next week. |

Hello Ladies,
Wow, what a week I've had. I successfully passed the class with a 93%, third highest in the class. My brain is fried and I am looking forward to a day of just lounging! I had to work yesterday because we got backlogged while we were all in class. My brother got in a bad motorcycle accident this week and ended up in the hospital and totalled his bike. He is okay, with a concussion and a sprained left wrist and a lot of road rash. He was turning a corner around 30 miles per hour and his front tire hit some gravel that had been used to fill in a hole in the road. He's contemplating suing the state, because the responding officer told him there had been six other accidents in that same spot in the last two weeks. I'm just glad he's okay. I did not get any exercise in this week, so I am "redoing" this last week starting tomorrow. I just did not have the time and that is the truth. Just too much going on with working days and then overtime and then trying to fit in my time with my boys. Just wanted to say I was back and am back on track as of tomorrow. Chach |
Ok Chach....I'm with you. Starting tomorrow I am back in full gear as far as exercise!! Let's do it, ok?? I just have to and if I know someone else is in this with me, I am much more apt to continue. Accountability works wonders for me.
How are the rest of you ladies doing?? I havent exercised since I did the Glider the other day. Took my son to see "Rugrats" today, had Pizza Hut buffet for lunch and Baskin Robbins afterwards.:o Now you see why I just have to get back on track! The weekend is almost over. I haven't done any workouts since my elliptical last week. I need to get back in routine. Actually, I need to make a routine and stick to it. I think my knee is good now, so no excuses. I probably won't be doing my workout till tonight. This is our long weekend up here. Gonna enjoy it. Supposed to be in the high 80's to low 90's this week! Ok ladies, we can do this! Power UP! |

Hi Girls!
Well, I did it...I got back on track today!! Hooray!:D My sis and I did our Abs tape at 8 a.m. then I went to work at 10 and worked til 7 pm. I had a grilled chicken salad for lunch and drank 64 ounces of water during the day. About an hour ago, my sis and I walked 2 miles. After that, I had a roasted chicken sandwich from Subway. I did have one mini hersey chocolate sometime during the day. Oh and for breakfast I had a scrambled egg and toast. All in all, foodwise I did fine and back into my exercise! I'm thrilled that I could actually post something positive again for a change. Hope you all are getting into gear also. I'm off the rest of this week so I'll have no excuses not to continue. I just finished sweating thru the Power 90 Sculpt. The knee felt a little funny, so I just wrapped it in the tensor and took it easy with the lunges and squats. Man, I feel so good after a workout, so why don't I keep doing the workouts?:shrug: I'll just HAVE to make it a good habit. MIKI--Hooray for you getting in a workout today! And good eating too. Hope everyone else got in a workout. If not, tomorrow is another day. |

Back on track today. Cardio and walking, so I am feeling good. I need to get the food back on track, but honestly, not that bad with the food. Miki: Sounds like we are in the same spot. Accountability is the best. I'm not starting the entire 90 days over, I'm just pretending that last week didn't happen. Great job on the eating! Susanne: So nice to know you are back on it also. Why is it that we all slipped at the same time? Darn those evil-doers that get in our brains. I'm still getting back into the swing shift mode, so bear with me a couple of days. Zanne, me too...I feel so much better once I know I've gotten in that workout for the day! Kinda silly to skip it knowing that. I feel awful about myself when I miss a day or two.(or 3 or 4..lol) Chachee, It was pretty weird we all got sidetracked at the same time. We need to get our bad times on diff schedules so the one not doing so great can be motivated by the ones that are. Wonder how to get that worked out.:lol: My eating wasnt quite as good today but I did do the Thigh tape this morning with my sis and then walked a mile tonite with hubby.
