music - Yeah for the progress. novangel - You are doing great with exercise! It is paying off, even if invisibly ! bunneth - I'm impressed with the push-ups. I was just watching a bit about the Fire Department and they showed footage of the guys doing push-ups in their gear! Ooooph. philly - What a beautiful horse avatar ! I agree, push-ups are a challenge. I can get in about a half of one on my toes. Then I hit the floor - and I'm proud of that One thing that will build up the upper body is 'sun salutations' - downward-facing-dog and plank etc. I find them more pleasant to do than to grunt over a push-up that I can't do. Then after a while, I have found that if I try to do a push-up I can do an approximation of one. If you do the 'traditional' sun salutation, you go to 'knees-chest-chin', which is a nice way to start building up before going to the full plank descent.
I got a lot of walking in this week, but I also ate quite a bit and although there was no junk, I'll wait for tomorrow to visit the scale. Have a great weekend everybody.
I can't do bunches of push ups on my toes, but I can do several with good form now. Which is amazing considering when I started out knee push ups were extremely hard. I've also gained considerable strength working slow with heavy weight/low reps. Not that I never do low weight/high reps, but it's not where I get any noticeable improvement.
I want to do TurboFire Fire 30 and HIIT 30 today, but I'm not sure if I will have the energy for that much. We'll see!
Well, I got on the scale this morning and had to adjust my ticker accordingly. Oh well, it is what it is..I still say I feel smaller so I dont know what the heck the problem is. Everything I am reading mentions possible weight gain in the beginning of strength training because your muscle will hold water as they heal. Ok fine..I do believe that's possible so perhaps I should pick up a tape measure instead and throw the scale off the balcony.
I slept so good. Well, I woke up at 6am like it was time to get up...bummer. Of course I went back to sleep.
SANITY!! So good to see your post. You were missed. Don't stay away too long.
My new avatar picture was a pic I got online. This horse is beautiful, poised, and a bounty of muscle. I was just inspired by the visual and just always kept it in my pic library.
bunneh, that's an aggressive exercise plan. Thanks for the push up info.
novangle, no worries. You said it yourself that you feel other things are going on that you like. The scale is just a portion and is not the end all. Also I think I read that at your level (being close to your goal) it is much harder and you have to rethink your approach.
No exercise as of yet. I got up and experimented with a breakfast recipe that didn't go well. Now, I'm off to the market to get some coconut milk, fruit and other goodies.
Till later.

Reason: add
Hi bunneh, it was a good week. Got a lot of stuff done and walked alot, too.
Proud of myself just now. Was sitting here, thinking of where I'm going to take a walk, and was really hungry. My knee-jerk reaction is to pick up something outside, or be hungry and eat junk. But I said NO, no more. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it has to be healthy. So I decided that instead of making up a 'perfect' dish from the groceries I bought today, I'd make something to eat. I made a very lazy chili thinggy: I sauteed some extra lean ground turkey, added garlic and ginger (both from a jar), dried red pepper and dried onion. Then I added some red beans, a couple of sundried tomatoes, and a can of tomato paste and a can of water. Cooked that a bit (it got to a nice boil) and threw in a handful of extra fiber & enriched pasta shells. Total cooking time was about 25 minutes if that. When I plated it out I added a dollop of park skim cottage cheese to mellow out the tomato.
It is delicious, has tons of protein, fiber, and other nutrients. This may not seem like a big deal to 'normal' folks, but I am delighted that I took a step forward and took the time to actually take care of my nutritional needs myself. I feel really good
I'm going to use today as my rest day. I am worn out from my shopping trip. There was lots of sales on yummy stuff, one being 3lb bags of frozen strawberries, blueberries and mixed berries. Now as I'm smiling on my way home with my haul it dawns on me that I really have little room in my freezer. So, I broke them down into small measured snack bags and put that into freezer bags. I also prepped for my weekly meals. Even my feet are tired right now. So, rest day today.
Sanity, I had that way of thinking on my way to work yesterday. It would have been easy to pull over to dunkin donuts, mcdonald's, wawa or any of the convenient eateries. I had an orange and just ate that very slowly. When I got to my destination I ate what I packed and it was good.
Ladies, I read little by little of the changes we've made since posting on here a little over a month ago. We should be proud that we've chosen to make a "different" decision regarding exercise and eating. Jillian preaches in her workout that its more about exercise. You will take this positive energy to every point in your life. For me, it is very true.

I agree! I took the time to read back from page 1 of this thread and I have really upped my game since the end of January. I'm shocked at my motivation to be honest.
Off to do Jillian in a few. See you guys tomorrow night.
Here's something I'd never thought I would say: It's getting easier!!
novangel
I'm down a pound this morning, which is great given how much I've been eating lately. BUT, I've been eating plain foods, and I'm getting better at substituting 'bad' carbs for fruit and veggies, and I'm getting better at paying attention when I eat so I stop before I get full. (I know this is an exercise thread, but my nutrition is 'movin' in the right direction, too.)
My cardio is in the bag for today. I did Cathe Friedrich's Kick, Punch & Crunch. This is one of my fav workouts that I own. It's a kickbox inspired workout, but Cathe style.
I'm off to try a couple recipes today and housecleaning.
I hope everyone has a great/productive day. They're calling for 75 degrees on Wednesday. That's my day off, I can't wait to go for long walks outside again!
I will be doing Jillian later this afternoon, if all continues to go well today I can see I will be moving up to level 2 soon. Who would've thunk it??
