Indiblue - I want to do actual HIIT, though to be honest I'm not sure if that's what I'm doing. Does that make sense? I'm sprinting for 1 minute (my absolute fastest, oh-god-I'm-not-going-to-make-it speed) and then walking for 2 minutes, and repeating. And yes, I'm doing it for 15-20 minutes. It *feels* like what I've read that they're supposed to feel like. So hopefully, even if I'm doing this wrong, they'll help my speed/endurance.
I've finished planning my half-marathon training plan which I'm going to start in January. Eek! I'm going to run a couple more 5 and 10Ks before I do it. It'll happen around April or May. I want to get used to the distance first.
And I had a really great workout over the weekend. I drove up to the national park near where I live. There's ~3 mile trail that's flat-ish and goes around a mountain which I jogged, then it goes back ~3.5 miles over the mountain which I hiked. I do most of my running inside and it was so nice to go outside and run instead.
