That sounds great. I'm so glad it's working out for you.
I had fun hooping to the 'party mix' cable music channel this morning.... lots of songs I hadn't heard in years and every time I was going to stop and jump in the shower another really good song would come on. I was nearly late for work. LOL
You ladies have all got me interested in hula-hooping now! I was terrible at it as a child but I'd love to try it again. I somehow doubt I'll be able to find a weighted hoop here in New Zealand and making one is not something I'd be able to do myself...but I might see what I can do about buying a kid's one and somehow making it a little heavier. I like the hooping exercise on Wii Fit, so maybe since I've got that motion down, I'll be able to do the real thing - and it will be more fun with my own music!
I've seen them here (in Canada) on the shopping channel and have thought about buying one. My question is with them being so big how much room do you need to be able to use the hoop properly without hitting anything.

I most often hoop in my itty bitty room in a spot that's seriously about a yard and a half of open space between my desk and my bed. The hoop often swings a few inches above the edge of the bed, but as long as I don't bend my knees too much when hooping, the hoop doesn't brush up against it. I would, of course, recommend doing it in bigger spaces if available but you really don't need a huge room or anything for most adult sized hoops.
Does anyone know of some good youtube videos that'll teach me how to do some hula hoop tricks?
I've checked out the ones from expertvillage.com and they're okay. What I really want to learn how to do it go from the waist to torso, and then be able to do that whole, arm in and out of the hoop thing. Does that make sense? I've seen LOTS of people doing in in vids while they're dancing, and I really want to learn how to do it.
I just dug my hoop out again yesterday. Mine is just a kids one with pink duct tape wrapped around it to give it weight. I did 5 minutes straight earlier in the day and then decided to split it up a bit and after supper I used it during the commercials for a one hour show.
I feel just a bit sore so today I think I will do 5 minutes at the beginning of the hour and then do the commercials and then end with the last 5 minutes of the show also.
I would love to work up to 30 minutes at a stretch.
You say the weighted ones are better, but is it ok to use a cheap one from the toy store? I can't afford to spend $30+ on a hula hoop. Or any work-out gear for that matter . . .
