Default Running in cold weather

I want to start C25K within the next week or so but I have a question for runners who have experience running in the cold weather. I want to know what the best apparel to have is. What do you have? What brands ? I know nothing about running in cold weather...I don't know what I need to wear and what brands work the best to keep warm with. Any information you can share with me would be awesome !
Thanks !!

Definitely dress in layers. I wear a long sleeve cotton shirt with a Northface light fleece over it and a light wind breaker. I hate running in cold though - I end up coughing on phlegm the whole time and it ruins it for me (disgusting, I know! but be prepared!). If you're running on ice as well be sure to look up tips on studs for your shoes.

dont ever wear cotton--- if it gets wet (cuz you sweat, or theres precipitation) then youll be VERY miserable. You want moisture wicking fabrics. I wear a heavier synthetic tanktop, and SOMETIMES a longsleeved tighter synthetic shirt. You want your base layer (closest to your body) to be tight, but not skin tight. A very small space for air traps your warm body heat near your body. I also run in a very lightweight, water resistant windbreaker, for my jacket ( i overheat when i run). You will prob want either a hat OR earmuffs, and DEFINITELY gloves. GOOD gloves.

I run in Sugoi...mostly because I got nice gear on sale from a local store in New York City.
The thing that will be problimatic for you is starting C25K in the cold. It alternates running and wallking and I'm worried you'll get hot and then get real cold during the walking parts.

When I run outdoors, I dress as if its 20 degrees warmer because I tend to run hot. A good rule is dress as if its 15-20 degrees warmer, but I don't know how much you will cool down during the walking parts. Give it a try close to home and see how it feels.

Yes, gloves are key. Splurge for the kind with the nice big soft snot panel on the side!
