Default Anybody do Callanetics?

I love 'em. I can't do them completely, but I can modify, and I really feel the muscle tone coming in. Doesn't seem to be a big weight reducer, but it does build strength.

And it so happens that strength is what I need above all, before I can do any other form of exercise. I was injured in a car accident several years ago, and it hasn't been all that long that I've been able to walk without a cane. Before I can really get into any other form of fitness exercise, I think, I have to concentrate on building up strength. Callanetics were specifically created for neck and back injuries, and for me this works very well.

Hello!
I did... I read a lot of good stuff and had even a personal trainer for a while. I think the results are quite good if you do it on a regular basis - which I unfortunately did not
best

I do I do! I LOVE Callanetics! I am 5'11" and almost 300 lbs and I can do it. I notice that the side stretches really really tone and tighten the back fat (where your bra straps cross). One girl I work with even pointed out that I was getting smaller there.

If you go to the low carb friends website, there is a very active Callanetics thread (challenge) over there. The instructor who was involved in Callanetics Evolution is a frequent poster. I got Evolution for Christmas but I've yet to try it.

Thank you for those links!

I'm not able to do her entire one-hour workout straight through. I never have been. But I incorporate her moves into my stretching, and it does wonders. I also apply her principles--small movements, slow motion--when doing deep muscle exercises, in moves I didn't necessarily learn from her.

I used to do Callanetics in my teens and I'd forgotten how great it felt! I only just started again one week ago (I'm on the 2 hours per week schedule right now) and already my back is feeling so much better!

Callanetics is one of the life-savers for me. I really enjoy them. I appreciate how the exercises can be adapted and modified, and that I can go at my pace.

Chocokat, glad you're enjoying them again.
