I also do my "own thing." Pedal as hard and fast as you can and to the point where you feel you can't go on

and you can't carry on any sort of conversation at all. Do this for about 30 seconds. Then, rest for about 2 minutes and repeat. Do this for at least 6 intervals. I usually do that about 6 times and then, I resume my normal routine of a regular cardio workout. When you do this, it releases a chemical in your body that makes you lose weight 3x as fast, so if you do that for 20 minutes, the idea is that it's similar to doing it for an hour. I still haven't found that to be exactly true, but it's something I like to incorporate into my routine.
