4.5 miles at the park today. It was a sunny, no wind 49 degrees, I had on a wool cap and gloves. :) They came off sooner today than Monday, so maybe as I build running endurance I'll also build a tolerance for being out in the chilly weather... :o

I believe you'll be beaten with wet noodles, rolled in powdered sugar, and then photographed for posterity.

6.5 miles. I'm really starting to loathe the treadmill and reallllly miss outdoor running:(. With the treadmill I can't decipher whether I'm tired or just painfully bored...

I think its the boredom, I lasted 2.10 miles today on my reluctant return to the treadmill. I felt great physically but mentally I just couldn't keep going. I'm proud of my effort though, tomorrow another treadmill run. I'm unwilling to go out in single digit weather, even a crazy runner person has to draw the lines somewhere.

midwife 01-15-2009 08:57 AM

Yikes! Be careful Skinny Teen.

EZ, don't listen to Jo. The consequences are actually much much worse! :)

3 miles today. Operation Sprint Intervals continues!

Mrs Snark 01-15-2009 09:20 AM

I ran 5.34 miles this morning. Finally Florida got a shot of cooler weather, I think it was low 40s this morning, a nice change.

2009 Run Miles: 45.61... 954.39 to go!

urockmom 01-15-2009 11:40 AM

It is funny to read the varying account of welcome and despair about the current cold temperatures. I guess its all in what you are used to! ;)

My rule is no running outside when it is below 5, because it really, really hurts to breathe!

So, 2 miles inside today. :kickcan: Boring!!!!
Only 717.5 to go!!! :D

Dianeofnka 01-15-2009 05:12 PM

5 miles today!

thinpossible 01-15-2009 06:29 PM

2 more miles for me today. Problem is, if I walk in the morning I don't want to walk at night too, and vice versa. Man I'm lazy. Oh well, the laziness was developed over many years, so I guess the fact I'm exercising 6 days a week is certainly better than nothing. Anyway, should be at 20 miles by the end of the week.

JackieRn 01-15-2009 09:44 PM

Decided to suck it up and stay on the treadmill, 8.58 miles for me.

jenguin 01-15-2009 11:05 PM

Grrr....I'm going to go back to read to catch up, but I just have to share that I haven't run in a week! Between sub-zero temperatures, gym (at work) hours and my meeting schedule I can't fit a run in to save my life. Tomorrow I am going to run, whether it is outside or on the treadmill. I usually go over my lunch hour, but if I don't time that exactly right the treadmills are full. Of course that wouldn't matter this week because I've basically been chained to my desk and haven't taken a lunch hour. It's making me really cranky too. I will run tomorrow, and hopefully it will be above zero degrees this weekend so I can also run on the weekend!

/rant off

Hope everyone is doing great and I will be back with more miles...hopefully soon!

runningbee 01-15-2009 11:43 PM

3 miles today. My shin is hurting again so tomorrow is a day off. :(

keemster 01-15-2009 11:58 PM

6 miles today. I couldn't run the past two days and tomorrow is a no go either. I'm going to do a nice long run either on Saturday or Sunday to make up for it!

dixied 01-16-2009 09:57 AM

2.4 miles for me today, then a lower body workout with my new adjustable weights. I did hill intervals on the treadmill, which was challenging enough to keep me from being bored. Actually, it was just challenging period! I didn't even have the incline set all the way up. Obviously I've been spoiled here in FL where there are few hills. I'll just keep doing the hills and think about running a 5K back home in WV where we have big hills.

RunnerKim 01-16-2009 12:11 PM

Jenguin...I hear that! I haven't posted here in 2 or 3 days so he's my stats:

Weds I got up to run outside and I knew I was going to have a GREAT run. 1/4 mile into it I spotted a small black bear in the middle of my path. I was shocked! So I turned around and headed home. I didn't want to NOT exercise so like a fool I did dashes in front of my house for speedwork w/o warming up properly. Yes...I have shin splints now that I am nursing. :(

So that afternoon I did walk a speedy 3 miles at work inside too.

yesterday no running due to work being so hectic that I had no time before work to get out there. I walked 3 miles in the afternoon inside at work.

Today: nursing shin splints and it was 10 below with the wind chills so...NO THANKS! I will walk my 3 or 4 miles downstairs at work this afternoon and that will be it.

Tomorrow I will do a 10 mile trail run at 7am.

NSV ladies....I added more fruit and carbs back into my diet and my 4.5 week stall lifted! The scale went down 2.5 lbs!!!! woohoooo!!!!!!

river 01-16-2009 12:15 PM

Baby it's cold outside! Ran/walked 5 miles on treadmill today.

LaMariposita 01-16-2009 12:45 PM

Hi everyone! I haven't been on this site in over two years. I came across this thread & thought it might help to motivate me. I was a competitive runner from age 8 thru college. I'd love to get back into it! Because of current health concerns, I can't run yet, but I can certainly walk! I'm going to shoot for 500 miles and hopefully I can start running in a few months.

mountain mama 01-16-2009 12:46 PM

I had aNSV yesterday! I jogged 4 miles in 45! I dont understand.. it was like teh best run i have ever had in my life!! i could have gone for ever and i just had all this energy!
Anyway.. dang.. i love a good run!

kittycat40 01-16-2009 02:49 PM

Wow-- everyone is sounding so great!! :)
2 miles on the treadmill today.

midwife 01-16-2009 03:37 PM

+ 3.5 miles!

Shannon in ATL 01-16-2009 05:05 PM

+2 miles today... A little sad that it wasn't more than that, I had planned to at least match the 4.5 of Wednesday, but considering it was 29 degrees I just had to stop! My cheeks are still cold! :)

EZMONEY 01-16-2009 08:37 PM

Took the mutts out for 2.5 after being away at work for 2 days.

26.5/1000 MILES

sm177 01-16-2009 09:38 PM

I only did 2 miles today because the treadmill is murdering me with boredom. I also did the 30 day shred to see what all the hype is about, I liked the strength stuff but the rest was pretty boring. I'm praying for warmer weather! Today was sooo cold a quarter of the city lost power! Poor Toronto!

JoyfulVegGirl 01-17-2009 03:39 AM

Whoops, I haven't updated this group in a while :o Sorry about that!

I've been running, though! 10 miles yesterday, 3 today, and if I finish tomorrow's run that puts me at my first 30 mile week ever! I'm so freaking excited!

EZMONEY 01-17-2009 11:02 AM

A gorgeous morning here for a walk with the dogs in a long-sleeve t-shirt and shorts.

EZ~ You are killing me! It was -15 degrees here this morning!!! :brr:

Anyway, 5 miles last night and 11 this morning (all indoors, of course ;))

Fat Chick B Gone 01-17-2009 03:36 PM

+4 today

JackieRn 01-17-2009 06:28 PM

16.57 miles, I really wanted to cross that 100 mile mark today but the cold kept me inside. All treadmill.

I decided to just take advantage of the consistent surface and pretend like the people on the machines next to me where running with me.

Also, I planned the next 3 years of my life, lol I had so much time to think about the future and my goals it was ridiculous.

Shannon in ATL 01-17-2009 07:38 PM

+1.7 on the elliptical today. Oddly, the elliptical almost killed me today, and I couldn't get my heart rate up to the HIIT levels I used to be able to achieve pretty easily on it before. Am I getting spoiled to the real running after only 18 days?

river 01-17-2009 07:40 PM

3 tread miles today.

JulieJ08 01-17-2009 10:49 PM

21 miles down, 479 to go :) :carrot:

Angie and I took the dogs to the duck pond this morning. Braggin' here ;) I wore a long sleeve shirt and shorts ~ Angie wore her shorts and a light sweatshirt. It was in the high 60's to low 70's and the sun was shining! We are expecting rain though this week :(....actually :) happy about that...we need it!

Have a great week gals....I am out of town until Friday

Holy moly, I gotta say that my brain hits stack overflow error when it comes across a temperature like "-15."

keemster 01-19-2009 12:09 AM

+8 today--- harder than usual, my body def will feel it tomorrow.

kittycat40 01-19-2009 02:03 PM

Fat Chick B Gone 01-19-2009 06:04 PM
