4.0 miles today at the park. Walked .5, Ran 2, Walked .5, Ran .5, Walked .75, Ran .25. Wow, that sounds complicated when I write it down. :) Longest I've ever done, though, so I'm proud of that.

I was really disappointed with my weigh in today. I started winter break at 135 (after falling off the wagon for an entire school semester), got down to 132ish, and today I was I was over 135 again. I've ran almost 50 miles since the New Year... so I guess it's just frustrating not seeing tangible evidence. Bleh. :( I'll just keep trucking along until I see some results. |
Can I join you? ... so far I have had only a few runs this year .... but need some motivation to get out there ..... 1000 miles ... would be a great goal ...
....I can relate to the obsession with the garmins and other GPS devices.... and now if i'm going to get to 1000 ... I'll have to wear hubby's ... amazing how these things all work ... |

Is it too late to join in?? I got a late start to the New Year with an injury but I plan on making it up! I love my Forerunner 305 too ... and I only can use a few functions thus far!

I am back in too. Still having a wonky knee, so maybe more walking than jogging this year, but still moving!

Yesterday ran 6 miles, walked 3 at work.
Today: 5am run outside for 4.5 miles. Will walk 3 at work. This Friday is supposed to be FIVE degress....yes....FIVE degrees....BRRRRRR!!!!!!! |

Kim, I think you were talking about carbs and better runs. I too am watching my carbs, mainly cause of my weightlifting. I don't restrict fruits and veggies, but I keep my grains to 2 25 gm servings a day and when I am running long (over an hr) I'll add a serving of beans or a small potato or somesuch. Carbs make a great difference for long runs for me. |
Hi All, took a day off from exercise yesterday. Not sure if that was a great idea or not, since I only get one a week. But anyway, there it is. I plan to walk on the treadmill and to walk to pick up my kids from school. It should be above freezing, so I think I can handle it.

I think I have a mental block with regards to my running progress.
I've been doing 3-3.5 miles everyday since Oct., and even before that I've was walking 3 miles for almost 2 years. From Oct to Dec 31, I was faster than I am currntly and it seemed like I had more endurance. The only change I can think of is that I had to switch gyms. My new gym is much busier, and the crowd is much younger/fitter (it was me and the 70 year olds at my last gym). I think I've gone back to the "I'm fat, I don't deserve this, I'm not good enough" mindset. What the heck is that about? I'm still doing the 3 miles, but now I'm slower, and it's a struggle sometimes to finish. Or, and this just occured to me, do you think I could just be getting bored with running on the treadmill? Until October I was walking outside at a track. I added some big hills today and it seems to help, but I have to slow down to a walk again. I checked my heartrate and it was as high while walking w/ hills as it was when I was running, so I suppose it's not a health benefit issue as much as a ego issue? Any suggestions? |
I am totally biased toward running outside, Dixie. Get thee outdoors into the beautiful Pensacola air!!
I've mixed up my running this month by doing a lot of sprint intervals. It has kicked my butt all over again and this am I ran my 3.5 mile loop at a faster tempo pace (no sprints) than I ever have. |

Got 3.5 miles in today - it was sooo BEAUTIFUL outside! Like spring! I almost feel guilty reading about 5 degrees. Thanks JackieRN for the link, I definitely want to find out more about what my Garmin can do. It has definitely been a motivator. Have a good evening everyone!

Today was a scheduled off day for me, actually I skipped a few of my off days recently because I have the run bug bad! I want to run as hard as I can every day, and am not yet registered for my 10K, I am thinking of the half marathon already. I'm hooked bad.

I've decided that those of you who are running outside in the snow and rain are CRAZY! It was only 29 degrees here in "sunny" Florida this morning, and there's just no way I could do it. I suppose it might help if I owned any cold weather gear, but I don't even own a winter coat or gloves. :D
Instead I headed back to the gym and did 4 miles on the recumbent bike. I cranked up the resistance, and my legs felt like mush when I left. Then I went home and did weighted squats and step-ups, so I'm thinking when I go to stand up later today, I'm going to really feel those muscles. :smug: |

I ran on the treadmil today in PE... I ran 2 miles, but I was wearing some reeeeeeeaaaaaaaaalllllllly old and worn out shoes that sliced up the back of my ankle. It really hurts now, and the bleeding didn't stop until about half an hour ago...
I'm gonna take it easy tomorrow. |
Dixied: I agree, I feel crazy today its currently 9 deg which is higher than its been all day. I haven't been able to get myself out there. I just can't do it, its way too cold. I give in, I have a step aerobics class tonight and if the resolution crowd isn't hogging the treadmills I will attempt my first indoor run in 2 months. Wish me luck and as much sanity as one can hope to muster given my dread.

Finally walked my kids home from school today, so an extra two miles for me. I've decided I can't, ok let's be honest ~won't~ walk if it's below 40°. Just not gonna happen. :bb:
