6 on TM 15/75 |
Hello all,
I managed to get in 8 yesterday...hoping to get in many, many more before Thursday night, no running after Friday for a week, then I will be playing catch up... (10K on 2/24) 55/100..probably not going to make it due to the eye surgery..darn it  but I will do my best... Maybe the surgeon will let me walk? Hmmm? ;) |
liligurl, Eye surgery?
I'm playing catch up myself. It was 45 below yesterday but the winds have died down today bringing us to a sunny 4 below. I decided to do 7 on the TM, keeping it at 4 mph, but doing a lot of incline. I did not know my TM turns itself off at 100 min ?!?!?!?! Who new? It started right back up and didn't lose any of the stats. I just thought that was so weird. Hope everyone is having a terrific February! |
7.3 miles this evening - 60/135
|
4.75 miles
19.5/45 |
Hey all, the running is going well, and so is the weight loss (yeah!!!)...I have to dial it back next week to absolutely no running, I'm having Lasik Surgery on Friday (yeah!!!!!:carrot:) I can't wait, I hate wearing my glasses..No contacts for 2 weeks prior to surgery  Than after surgery they say no running for 1 week due to the incision (no bouncing) I have about 1 day after that to get ready, arhh . Hubby and I made the decision that, if the MD says no running till after the 24th we are committed to walking the full 10K instead, I committed to this months ago and I will finish one way or the other, I want the finishers medal, and I figure surgery is an acceptable reason to keep it steady (walking) As long as I get out there and get it done, right?,,,,,

lilgurl,
I had lasiks last Feb. 21st! I would never look back. I was asticmatic and near-sided, now I am 20/20 and 20/15 with no astigmatism EVER again. The big thrill was that 6 hours after sugery I could rad the guide on the tv. You will need a few days to re-coup and drving at night was tough for a few weeks. The one thing they don't tell you is that your eyes will be tired and you will want to close them. Also make sure you have good quality sunglasses. I was a big fan of the drugstore variety. I still haven't done it but I have them in the car to take my old frames and make them into sunglasses. Walking should be fine! Hey congrats on the adoption, when will your son come home? No walking yesterday, just too darn cold. I plan to get out sometime today and if not it is me the TM and the biggest looser tonight! |
Hi guys,
Did 4.25 on TM last night. 19.25/75 |

|
3.4 miles on the treadmill last night.
33.9/90 |
got in 4.55 on TM at gym....
23.8/75 Laura (or anyone!) - when you race, do you find you run alot faster than your pace on the TM, or the same? I am so terrified of racing and sucking at it bc I get nervous, lol!!! |
3.75 miles 3 of which were running. Let me go die of shock now!
13.50/40 |
4.5 miles on the TM today
24/45 |
Ceegee...I personally run faster on the road (races) and I love that my time always suprises me when I finish. Just go run and don't forget to enjoy it. When it comes to running races..they are so much fun, you'll love it, I promise!!! ;)
L144S...I'm terrified to have the surgery done, but I know that I will be fine when all is said and done....still I'm scared  Not sure if I mentioned this before but, we finally got final word on hubby's hips, not good! He's 36 and is diagnosed with DJD (degeneritve joint disease) and requires bilateral hip replacement...he is not a happy camper! He has decided to join me in Hyannis and will watch me run/walk (surgery) to the finish line. :val1: He is my biggest supporter, I couldn't ask for a better husband. I on the other hand, have reassured him that I am behind him 100% good, bad, or indifferent in this marriage; he is truly my best friend. :val2: |
1.5 on the treadmill last night, 1 on the treadmill this morning.
36.4/90 Ceegee, it kind of depends on how you do the treadmill. I hate running on the treadmill, so I do it in very short bits - usually a mile or two. My races/runs outside are usually much longer than that, so when I'm on the treadmill I always try to pick up the pace. It's a lot easier to shoot for a sprint when you know you only have to do it for a few minutes! Plus I don't have a Garmin, so I never know my pace outside until I get home and map it out and clock it. On the treadmill, I know my pace exactly, so I always try to crank it up. |
Way to go cakeses!!!
liligurl, My husband had Lasik a number of years ago. I was allowed to be in the room and watch. It's a very interesting procedure. He was like a little kid on the way home. "I can read thaaaaat now!" very exciting, but his eyes did get very dry and painful and we had to pull over and do eyedrops a number of times. The hospital was an hour away. By the time we reached home though he had no more discomfort and still swears it's the best $4,000 he's ever spent.....Give your hubby a hug and surgery is definitely a good reason to walk rather than run. I did 5 yesterday. Road conditions were the worst I'd faced all year. I was sure I would go down, but I didn't. My time was slower than normal, but it's all in a days walk. 33 of 72 2 of 7 strength training = gotta get going on these!!! |
8.13
64.1/135 |
1 quick one on the TM to warm up the muscles then 20 min of yoga and 20 min of pilates. Yeah, I'm actually doing my strength training!!!!! Yes, that is a little pride slipping through. Truthfully though, thanks for being here. Back in Oct And then every month after I've tried to add strength training back into my week. Until I committed to it here at 3FC though I'd always let it slip. You're all so nice and not pushy, but you still have a way of keeping me accountable!!!
34 of 72 miles 4 of 7 strength training |
Laura and Liligurl - thanks, I need as much info as I can get so I don't freak, lol!
lovnmom - way to go! 4 on TM 27.8/75 |

4 miles today
28/45 |
1 mile today. Wasn't supposed to happen but it was a circuit day at training. Oh well...
14.50/40 |
6 more miles today but I have to tell ya, this will probably be all for awhile. Lasik surgery tomorrow, nervous yet excited. ;) I will be walking as much as I can after Saturday. If I feel up to it, hubby has agreed to let me go to the mall (its across the street from the MD office) Sephoria's specifically and get all new eye makeup. You have to throw out all old makeup. I hate this because I wear Bare Escentuals and it lasts forever and I have a ton left, and its not cheap!!!
I promised the puppies that I would take them for walks this weekend, just to get outside, so I'm hoping for a few miles. :running: 61/100...hoping to get close I have a committed 6 more anyway (10K 2/24) :p |
liligurl, I'm really terrible about throwing away old makeup, even though I know I should. How often do you replace yours? Also, good luck with your surgery!
4.5 miles on the treadmill last night 40.9/90 |
4.2
68.3/135 |
Thanks for noticing ceegee!!!
I got in 3 miles on the TM and another 20 min of yoga. We've gotten another 7 inches of snow since 5:30 this morning. We've already beaten the all time snowfall record. I totally feel like, ok, met that goal now let's see if we can have green grass and robins sooner than ever before!!! 37 of 72 miles 5 of 7 strength |
liligurl - good luck! Geez, if I went through my makeup I am afraid of what I would find in the drawer!
3 on TM 30.8/75 eeek.... |
I didn't have to throw out my makeup! I just couldn't wear eye makeup for 2 weeks. i did buy new mascara and liner after but i wear MAC and was not going to pitch it.
Had my 1 year follow up today :) I got to try on colored contact lenses, it was fun :) |
1 mile of walking today after aerobics class.
15.50/40 |
3 miles yesterday
2.75 today 12.25/40 |
L144S...they said I'd have to get rid of eyeliner and mascara. No make up today or tomorrow, then no eye make up for 2 weeks, I can live with that. I'm so happy to hear positive news about the procedure, I'm very very nervous as you can imagine. How sore were your eyes that night?...Glad your follow up went well, yeah!!!! ;)
I managed to get in 5 today...whew!!! 67/100...getting there. |
7.2 this morning - 78.9/135
|
I was nearsighted but my astigmatism was bad. As of yesterday I am 20/20.
Night was a problem for a few weeks, I had rainbows around lights for a few weeks. the nice part was that as the days got longer, it was less of a problem and I didn't notice it again. You will be fine, take the happy pill they are going to give you, listen to music, whatever you need. Are you going into Boston? who is doing your surgery? |
2 on the TM today while I barked cleaning orders to my children who are home again today because of snow. I can say it was the most satisfying jog on the TM ever!!!! Date night tonight. Movie and a good dinner. Diet be darned!!
39 of 72 miles 5 of 7 strength |

I've walked another 21 miles this week. Thus far, 49/70 for the month. Yippee...
