Wow everyone is doing awesome!!! My Christmas was terrific. I had no exercise planned for either Christmas Eve or Day, but did need something from town on Christmas Eve, so I walked adding an extra mile anyway. Took yesterday off and had a great time with my husband's family. Today brought me back to real life and basketball practice for my son. Did two easy miles in town and another hall walk.
That was my plan, but DH wanted to go with DS instead. I should have known better than to waite until then.
Dec totals
5 hall walks amended 4 hall walks
47 of 54 miles 45 miles of 54

Angie is out of town, she ran the girls yesterday, before she left, so today, after work, I walked them for 2 miles. I might make 1/2 my goal!

Money, making half your goal beats giving up any day. How many people just kick back and gain 5 or even 10 pounds during Christmas? You've been very busy at church and other places and have still found time to do 47 miles this month. I think that's awesome!
L, Sounds like you're having a blast. I've only been skiing twice in my life. I was young and had the whole "is anyone watching me" syndrome going on. I should try it again. I'd probably like it. Oh, I'm assuming you mean down hill. Is that what you mean? I have cross country skiied and I love that. Is Dixie having fun with you or is she feeling left out? The change in exercise is probably doing phenomenal things for your muscles.
I got in 5 hilly, rural, miles yesterday. The road was a little slick here and there and alot slushy here and there. The temp was in the high 20's so I tempted fate and wore my good shoes. Not a good idea. My nice white, nearly new Avias, look like something I've had for months and months.....oh well. I've walked off almost all the "upage" Christmas put on the scale.

2 miles on the elliptical this morning when I woke up - puts me EXACTLY at my goal!!! Now let's see if I can beat it by adding some more mileage this weekend.

Ok, If I count an hour of skiing as 3 miles and I skied 8 hours over 2 days, can I count that as 24 miles, i won't count the sledding or skating because I just can't figure that out and then I took Dixie for a 2 mile walk this afternoon. Thank G-d that we ran into her doggie friend who took all of the work out of it for me. if I fingle the numbers then that gives me the equivelent of 26 miles over the last few days which by the way I feel could be possible putting me at goal for the month AND I AM STICKING TO IT!!!!

L, it's your story, you tell it. It sounds like you've been having loads of fun while getting in a whole lot of exercise. Isn't that what the we're all trying to do? Find something or some things we love so we'll "just do it." Great job!
Helen, Over goal and a winner. Great job!

Hey everyone. I'm a newbie to the site and want to join in on the walking challenge. Running will be out of the question for a few months until I get into better shape.

My walks take me around the neighborhood, and once in a while, the beach. The neighborhood walk is about two miles, or less if I don't have the time. (2 miles is about 40 minutes, so one of my goals is to pick up the pace.)

I'm not setting a December goal, but starting Monday December 31, my goal is 10 miles a week, or about 40 miles a month.

Welcome Flutist, 10 miles a week sounds like a really good place to start. I myself only run on the TM. As long as the little track is moving I'll keep up, but outside I just stop running when I get uncomfortable. So, I totally think of myself as a walker. I really enjoy walking though so I'm ok with that!!! Find what you like and go. Good luck!
I'm pretty new to this thread myself. Is there someone here that usually starts the next month's challenge?

There will be a January thread and I expect there to be mre joiners too, you can set your goal then, but keep walking.
I am a slow walker, I do most if not all of my walking with my dog Dixie and I liten to audiobooks to keep me moving.

Thanks for the welcome!! I'm looking forward to joining y'all in the challenges. I know there will be many more joining me in a few days, but I don't see myself as a New Years' Resolution maker - I actually started making small steps towards my goals about 2 months ago by clearing out the pantry and starting a little walking. I can't wait to start making, and meeting, some walking goals.
