4 miserable miles on the TM. Totally put it off way too long today and really only put in the miles because my schedule said I was suppose to. Not because I wanted to.

Dec totals
3 : hall walks
41 of 54 miles

luvnmom, what is a hall walk?

I did a mile on snowshoes I was trying out today, they are way too big and combersome, I will try a smaller pair tomorrow before i return them both!

I then did another 2 on the snowy park walk. i think Miss Chick did at least 5 today, she had so much fun!

31/60

I don't think I am going to make goal, but it should be almost 40 tomorrow so I will do a couple of walks.

Hi Dixie, A hall walk is 30 minutes walking the halls in my children's school. 3 of my children have basketball practice from 9-11 on Sat mornings. I keep at least a 4 mph pace so it's aprox. 2 miles. A friend usually meets me and up and down the halls and stairs we trot and chat. In my goals and recording I just put "hall walk," because I don't really know how far I go and I really don't care. I just enjoy this time.
Do you think the snowshoes were just the wrong size for you or you just didn't like using them? I've never tried them and have been thinking about getting a pair. I live right on some of the best maintained trails in the state and some days walking in the snow seems like almost too much.

Ok I understand hall walks now

As for the snowshoes, i bought 2 pair, My son insisted he wanted a pair too, the most uncordinated child ever and puberty is NOT helping. I bought him a 8 wide 25 long i bought for myself a 9/30 (they were the only sizes left in the store.) he could walk in the smaller pair and did just fine
I felt like the length was too much. I am fairly coordinated and i could not manage the bigger shoe and I had to tighten the foot straps all the way up. The smaller pair, although weight wise fine for me and my son, his foot is too big for them to stay on. i am going to try the smaller pair tomorrow morning and decide if i am going to keep one or the other or both based on the fact that both of my boys will grow into the larger pair. if the smaller ones are not good I will return both of them. I will also add that in looking around for snowshoes, I was stunned to see competitive RUNNING ones!

I will also say I have a pair of Yak tracks which are around $20 they are great on the hard packed trails our plowed sidewalks that have a layer of snow on them BUT do not wear them on the road, they get slippery.

BTW It is funny, I have been on this board for 7 years as L144S, a code for my real name, I now post a signiture of my dog Dixie and people keep calling me that...it is not a biggie, i post under Dixie's Chick on the dog boards but I find it amusing.

L, Thanks for the clarity on your name. I didn't think Dixie was right, but then yesterday you said, " I think Miss Chick did at least 5 today." I pictured my dog running rings arond me and I went ah ha her dog's name is Miss Chick lol I've been meaning to look at others posts you've left elsewhere, but with Christmas and DS basketball games I haven't had alot of extra time. Years ago I posted daily at "Jaded Ladies," A Faith Based Weight Support Thread, and also a monthly walkers thread I would start myself (JuLy WaLkErS is how I would write it). Ever since coming back to 3FC I've been thinking you were someone I knew before. Anyhoo, it's really nice to meet you.
My calendar for today schedules me a Hall Walk, but I'm planning to do an extra 2 miles while I'm in town. It's an easy route, one tiny hill and no snow to sludge through, but 2 extra is 2 extra. My SIL shows up from MNPLS today which means the overeating and drinking is bound to start soon. Realistically I scheduled no walks or runs for Sun, Mon, or Tues. I'm going to post my planned walks now. I can always edit if I something gets in my way.

Dec totals
4 Hall walks
