Hey Mandalinn, I can do 3 sets of 10-12 reps at 50 pounds on the adductor. It gets tough before the end, but I can finish the lot. Doing 3 sets of 12 at 35 was easy--that's why I'm flummoxed by all the muscle pain! If your trainer says it's a waste of time, perhaps I won't bother with the ab/adductor at all. My primary goal with working my legs is to keep my quads strong enough to spare my knees when I do cardio. Other than that, I only work my legs because it seems slightly irrational to only do upper-body work. But, in truth, the only reason I've started doing weights at all is because I want my arms to look sculpted in tank tops this summer. Given that my weight training goal is sculpted arms, I suddenly realize that it makes no sense to kill my inner thighs on the stupid adductor machine. Especially if your trainer said it's not that useful. The trainer I met with last week was a bit of a twit--I don't have much respect for her opinion.

My mum is now in town, but I still plan to hit the gym tomorrow. I'll do 45 mins of cardio and work my arms. Gym will be closed on Sunday for the holiday, and since I skipped today, I MUST go tomorrow.

Dress fitting got cancelled (alterations lady is sick) so, instead of going back to bed like I wanted, Sarah and I were off to the gym like good girls.

60 min elliptical

Baffled - yeah, I don't know anything other than what my trainer said, but he was really critical of those particular machines. A little soreness is fine, but if you are having trouble *walking*, its time to lay off a little. Lunges did that to me for a while (i have bad knees, and there was something funky that wasn't strong enough to support me doing a full lunge, so by the second set every time, I had this stabbing pain in my quad and the next day i could barely walk and my knees were unstable) so I cut my reps way down (even though I could technically complete them) and built back up.

Friday: 60 minutes elliptical, 10 minutes abs

Today: 45 minutes of weight training then 5 miles treadmill in 56:39

I'm so excited that was my first time running 5 mile straight. I did it on the the treadmill though b/c the weather here in texas is so yucky! Rainy and in the 40's ugghh. My next 5 mile run will be on weds and hopefully the weather will clear up by then. hope ya'll have a great easter without too many treats!

My day yesterday, Gym is shut today so nothing going on but a walk to the store. I don't use those leg machines because I too was told that they are not much good. And prefer to do the lunges using weights. What I have found is that the stepper is making a lot of differance to my legs and butt. I hate the darn thing, but it's really making me work.Nice rest today, but back to the gym in the morning before I get too lazy.Have a great day people.:carrot:

Hello, my name is Dana and I used to work out like crazy, dance and martial arts mainly. Well that changed drastically after having a baby and I have never gotton back on track and my health and body are suffering for it. I'm looking for a place to post and be accountable. I got a gym membership a couple months ago but I have been slacking big time. I think that seeing how others are doing and fitting it into their lives, as well as having a place to record my successes and failures might do the trick. So, would you mind if I join in on your thread? I could sure use the motivatioin.

thanks!
