Anyone who feels ripped off by a diet program should contact her State Attorney General's Office, Division of Consumer Protection and file a Complaint. The Office will look into it and try to mediate the complaint. Sometimes they can get the company to negotiate at least a partial refund. It's worth a try, anyway.

Once I found out you had to pay for a whole year upfront, I told her that lately I couldn't commit for more than one day...no way a year! SHE WOULD NOT LET ME LEAVE!!! She just kept on and on about how really inexpensive it was compared to other programs. Seemed "cultish" to me.
Or like a really, really aggressive car salesman.

That's basically what it is, IMO. These 'diet counselors' who work for LAWL and other similar places aren't diet experts for the most part. They're SALESPEOPLE, working for a very small hourly wage and a big fat commission! (just try going to hotjobs.yahoo.com and type in "LA Weight Loss" - most of the job listings are for "sales counselors" or "Sales Supervisors".)

My time is way too valuable to waste having to deal with some faux nutritionist wearing a white lab coat trying to sell me a bunch of crappy supplements....IMO...

Hi. I have not tried to program but did notice several job openings on the Monster board (I'm looking for a part time job). I scanned the qualifications and they were more sales oriented - no mention of nutritional or fitness experience.

I tried them, it was a horrible experience, they also dont have enough calories or balance for lots of exercise, I got all of my money back, I will say with their corporate, legal action strikes fear, and gets action. There program didnt work for me, like I said I am a heavy exerciser, they knew that when they signed me up, after several weeks of maybe losing a 1/2 lb a week and literally starving but according to them I wasnt losing enough each week, See they only got money for a certain amount of weeks, and at my center if you didnt lose in that time then you went for free after that, unless you were a big cheater or something, so they tried 3 different plans for me, but they just didnt help, so I got my money back all of it, even the money for the lites, and I would never recommend them to anyone ever. They were rude accused me of cheating on my diet, they liked to humilate, it was horrible. I did a lot better on WW and then my own calorie counting I havent been as hungry and I lose steadily, not super fast like they wanted, but again Im not starving either!!!

Same thing with me, I paid a lot of money, got preg. and doc said I had to get off the program. They wouldn't let me off and after I had my daughter and started nursing, they actually told me that I needed to stop nursing or suppliment so that I could continue the diet. I told them no, I wanted some of my money refunded and they ignored me. I spoke to a friend who worked there and they said that most of the people who lost in the program gained right back, and they just did not do refunds. I complained to everyone I could and did everything short of getting a lawyer and to no avail. It isn't worth putting more money into and stressing about any more. I learned my lesson!

My mother did LAWL two times. She lost a lot of weight and looked very healthy. She did gain the weight back but loved it. I went to check it out and it was just too much money for me. IMO it is a good program but cost too much and is hard to maintain when you are finished.

Every ones story sounds like my nightmare, its true they talk a real good talk and when they are done you are out of thousands (i spent $1500) and I had all these bars & shakes that didnt keep me full, I had the supplements that didnt help. Was on the program for 6months and only lost 17lbs, I didnt like how they counsel you, everyone's diet approach was different so it confuses you on what to eat, luckily enough they refunded me $1200.00 of my money back. So good luck to who ever wants to try it.

There is a LAWL board here on the site with many people who have been extremely successful on the program, so if youre interested in a different, more positive perspective, you might want to check that board out. Its worked for A LOT of us and I personally love the program.

Hi I am from the LAWL board too and as my friends Deets and Angelica I can tell you that the program have work for us. There is no magic pill for weight loss, all is about attitude, learn to control ourselves, and a LOT of will power. What works for you doesn't mean that it have to work for me and viceversa, so if you guys have a bad experience with the program, I'm sorry, but a lot of us have good experience losing weight on it, and as Deets said we welcome you to check our board.

And, another thing, I started the program and I was breastfeeding and they never told me to stop, they just gave me a plan with bigger portions so my daughter don't stop receiving her daily nutrients, the only thing that they told me not to do was some supplements because they might have some ingredients that were not good for the baby.
I hope that all of you have a great day and reach your goals.!!!

I have been on many programs in my life and LAWL is the first program that I'm actually eating healthy and losing weight, which has motivated me to start exercising. I have lost 26 lbs and have a long way to go. This program works, but you have to be willing to work it and not over indulge in foods or have more portions then your allowed. I make sure I get all my water in daily, fruits, veggies, proteins and starches and I am not hungry. As mentioned above there is a LAWL forum on this board that you can read to see it does work. As humans we aren't perfect and do slip at times, but it's about getting back on board and starting over. Any program you will gain back the weight, if you go back to the old life style that we were used to eating like. I plan to make lifetime changes for my health and to feel and look better. Good luck!

I, too, am on LAWL, and I have lost nearly 50 lbs since August. Since I have been coming to 3FC I have learned that some LAWL centers are not as good as others. To those of you who had a bad experience, I am sorry to hear that. As my friends above me mentioned, a lot of us have great centers, and have had good experiences. Of course we have been fortunate enough to have this excellent site to come to for help, friendship, and inspiration too.

I am also from the LAWL board and I have to say I am one of the people this program HAS worked for! I've done it all and tried it all and LAWL has really worked for me. Yes there is hype, and sales and all that but the program has worked. Sorry for those who have had bad experiences, I am lucky to be one of the success stories!

Well I might as well add my two cents worth too - I am also doing LAWL after doing WW many times. WW was successful, but it never taught me the way to really it - the true nature forms of food that are the healthiest. I've been on LAWL since Dec 28 and have lost 15 lbs. I'm also back working out and feel healthier than I ever have knowing that I'm making all the right choices. Now, I am a little different and I don't go to the centers - I do it all on my own and with the great chickies on the LAWL board here - please if you are truly interested in a healthy way of life and a program that works - come join us.....LAWL is healthy and works if you choose to work at it!!!!! Good luck with whatever plan you choose!
