  • I have been following Paul's techniques for 9 days now & I feel like a new person! I do not understand how something so simple works, but it absolutely does! I want to get his book w/ CD but it is sold out everywhere.

I am down 5 pounds, my craving for candy has been completely eliminated(thanks to the Crave Busting Technique) & I feel fabulous! ToM arrived a couple days ago with NO cravings, NO cramping & MILD mood swings. I literally feel like I am living in someone elses' body & I LOVE it!

Anyone else having this much positive success? Hope so!

Just wanted to add that I LOVE mamatoTomandAlexs' siggie...with your name & pictures of your boys...beautiful!
  • Hey realitymom, good for you. I think the techniques are fabulous!!!!
Paul has a website and it says the books are going to be available in the US soon. There are alot of frustrated forum members there saying they're having trouble ordering and why would these shows be on if you can't get his book here? I ordered my book on ebay a month or so before he even came on here in the US, and paid $18.95 for it. The same seller is now selling them for $49.95!! I'd say wait til you can get it in the US for a decent price. Most everything in the book is on his website (mckenna.com). The only thing is the CD that comes with the book. I think it has helped me more than the book itself. Keep up the good work. I really feel it is a life changing program.
  • I watched the show and tried some of the ideas he had....well
    Quote:
Most of us eat with our eyes and stop eating when the food is gone.
I AGREE, I was having breakfast just this morning, 2 eggs and (2) 1 oz pieces of ham, well I was reading the paper (kinda), but I wasnt looking at my plate, but I did put my fork down between bites and I was consciously thinking about what I was eating, well I felt pretty full, and looked down, well geez I bet I barely ate 1/2 of my food! I was pretty surprised, I was eating SLOW and chewing for a long time.....So I really think there is something to what he says.
  • All I can say is judging from my own experience, he's on to something. Granted it's nothing new, but this is what I've been searching for without even knowing it. For me, IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FOOD! I could have a PhD in nutrition and dieting based on all the books I've read/diets I've been on for the last 30 years. At this point in my life I want OUT of the diet mentality. I want to have a healthy relationship with food and not angst every time I go into a restaurant trying to mentally calculate WW points or carbs or whatever.. and feeling bad and ultimately bingeing. I've ordered the 6-DVD set ($119) and I'm looking forward to starting down this path once and for all. There's a lot I need to re-learn. Just my .15 cents worth!!
  • Forgot to add this to my sermon (ha ha!): I've been following the 4 Golden Rules for the last couple of days. Just exactly as they are explained. And I have to tell ya...I'm eating WAAAY less. I am getting back in touch with what hungry feels like and what satisfied feels like. And I'M NOT EATING LOADS OF JUNK! I'm eating what I really want. This is so liberating to me... If anyone would like to buddy up, let me know!!

  • Hi all, I watched the show with the "tapping" technique. I was not having a great day... baked brownies for Easter, need I say more... I had brownies and milk all ready, sat down, clicked around a bit on the TV, landed on his show... He was just starting to explain the "tapping" technique... I followed his instructions, did it along with the audience, and it worked !! I didn't want the brownies/milk anymore... I didn't care about them anymore..
WEIRD... very weird... within 2mins I was throwing the stuff away... I've been tapping away my cravings every since, works 90% of the time for me... There are step by step instructions and quick video (free) on the tapping on his website Paul McKenna.com or the TLC link... its worth trying it... I was amazed. I don't want to think about why/how it works right now. I'm just doing it.......... check it out....
  • I'm just loving this feeling of not being so food-obssessed. It's like being released from a prison!

  • The show
I DVRed his show, because I just can't miss the Tudors tonight. My mom and I are going to watch it and try to implement his ideas. When I first saw the show last week, I figured that I would give it a try, but I hadn't seen the whole thing, so I wanted to make sure that I had all of the information that I needed to continue.

In my introduction here, I told everyone that I go to the gym regularly and I can tell a difference in my body in terms of toning and whatnot, but the number on the scale really isn't moving. I realize that muscle weighs more than fat and all, but I still need to lose weight and not just shift it around to some unused part of my body. SO, I say all that to say, that I need to work on my eating habits. It is soooo difficult! I can't diet! I can't say, "No, you can't have that." If I have to do that to lose weight and keep it off, it will never work for me. I need to do something where I am not counting points, or calories or serving sizes, or obsessing about what I eat and how much. This seems like the perfect solution where I can eat what I want, but do it in moderation and naturally stop when I am full instead of force myself to stop when I am starved. Man, it feels good getting that frustration off of my chest!
  • Hi everyone. I've been watching too, and I wanted to say how similar this is to Intuitive Eating. So if you're interested in learning more, there's a thread called "Intuitive Eating" in the General Diets forum. (I just sort of discovered that about a month ago, then I started watching this show and it was like a perfect overlap). Also, for those of you eager for his book, you might be interested in other books on Intuitive Eating. Go to Amazon and do a search for Intuitive Eating.
  • Hi, I too am an Intuitive Eater, but I was having trouble with cravings. I always was what I call a taste eater. I often wanted food b/c it tasted good. I stumbled across McKenna's show Saturday morning when looking for something to watch while eating late breakfast. I did the techniques with the audience. I had a big problem with Heath bars. I never was much of a sweet eater and NEVER liked this candy, but DH loves them and has them sitting by him all the time. He's thin. Any way I did the technique to get rid of the craving. I still can't stand the thought of eating one b/c I feel sick even writing about them. I've only seen the one show and I don't get hungry. One day I went so long without eating I got the shakes. I finally realized that I don't know how to recognize real hunger b/c as I said I ate for taste and also because most diets tell you how much to eat and some even tell you when such as every 3 - 4 hours. I joined his website and downloaded all the info and I am now trying to learn to eat when I am slightly hungry but not ravenous or starving. Neat thing happened yesterday. DH and I ALWAYS go out to eat when he goes to the doctor and gets refills on meds. We went to Walmart to get meds and 1st biggy accomplishment is we left the store without any food items (don't remember ever doing that. As we walked out, he asked me where I wanted to eat and I had to say "I don't know. I'm not really hungry". He wasn't hungry either so we came home and I fixed him what he wanted when he got hungry. Then when I got hungry I only had roasted chicken and a salad. I love salads; always have and I am finding that is pretty much what I want to eat.

Sorry this is so long. I loved it when I learned about Intuitive Eating, but I was really having trouble with the cravings. Now I am following the McKenna techniques to it, I am excited that I now have a way for it to work for me. It completes what I need to be in control of my eating habits. They do go together very well. No more measuring, counting calories or points and when I go out to eat with family and friends (vacation next week) I don't have to worry about where we are going to eat or if their food is going to fit o work around or with my "diet" plan. All that stress and anxiety is gone. "Free to eat normal", but sensibly and healthy. I already love "healthy" foods.
  • I started watching this a while back, and hubby finally convinced me to try it. I haven't weighed myself, but I feel "free" from food, like others said. Since I'm now very aware of when I'm full, I don't "emotionally eat". My mind tells me "No! I'm full! SRSLY back away from the Lays! No more room at the inn!" On the downside, I end up in the bathroom crying my eyes out about as often as I'd emotionally eat. ><

We went to the Chinese buffet today. Bite, fork down, chew, swallow, water (to rinse the taste). Repeat until I was full. My mother wouldn't stop with the questions! Are you sick? Is there something wrong with the food? Is your stomach upset? Do your teeth hurt? Does you jaw still hurt (note : I had a flare up of my minor TMJ a few weeks ago)? Are you depressed? ARG!!! Mother I'm fine!!! Instead of my usual 2-3 plates worth of food, I only ate half a plate (in twice the amount of time).

    Craziness!
  • Wow, this thing sounds amazing! I keep meaning to catch this show but then I continuously forget.

Even though I am technically thin now (and in great shape thanks to intense exercise), I still eat WAY too quickly. I have been inhaling my food since I was a kid. I grew up without much money and there were plenty of hungry times, so I always associated food with pleasure. Whenever there was an abundance of food in the house, I ate as much as possible of everything I loved because I wasn't sure how long it would be around. Unfortunately, this pattern transferred into adulthood and while I was thin in my teen years (I remember eating entire 10 oz bags of party mixes - those MUNCHIES sure were DELICIOUS, huge boxes of candy, fast food, and yup - I still was skinny ), I got fat once I hit 20. Now, I carefully watch what I eat, but that does not stop me from gobbling my food like a little piggy! Thanks to everyone for posting the fork tip... I will definitely have to try putting my fork down after every bite and washing it down with water.
  • I watched the show last night and could not believe of how it worked! I am going to catch the next show. I think that it is really going to help.
  • Congrats on your amazing weight loss NightengaleShane! You look beautiful & happy, can't ask for more than that!
The ICMYT techniques really are amazing in how EASY they are to follow. It really makes so much sense, enough that it perturbs me that all this time I have been trying one diet after another, with no success & this NON diet program works BETTER! *sigh* Ah well, at least I have finally found something that works for me now! Down another 3 pounds(for a total of 8) & full steam ahead. It's nice to see & feel positive results from something that is so simple. Talk about a stress reliever! lol
    Best wishes all! ~RM
  • Quote: I have the book and cd. I'm actually rereading it right now. His ideas are pretty basic:
1: When you are hungry, eat.
2: Eat what you want, not what you think you should.
3: Eat consciously and enjoy every mouthful.
4: When you think you are full, stop eating.

So, very no nonsense stuff. Something we all know to do, but don't follow through on. What's really weird to me is that the first time after I listened to the cd, I only wanted to drink water. I was addicted to drinking Crystal Light Tea before that, and after the CD I didn't even want to drink it at all. That was about 3 weeks ago. Now, for the eating part. It was kind of strange for about a week and a half, I had no urge to snack and really didn't feel hungry even at meal times. I lost maybe a pound in that week and a half. Then the next week was the week before my period and I was ravenous, so I started snacking again. So, I don't know if the "magic" has worn off or not. Maybe I'll feel that way again after this week??
I'm really excited to see that he has a show coming on here in the US.
If you order the book, make sure you get the 2007 updated version and that it has the cd with it.

    Hi Donna,
I am a new member and wanted to thank you for your post on Paul McKenna. I have been watching him and now I will order this book. I have been wondering if this was just bunk or not. Seems to me to many people take advantage to overweight people, we seem to be easy targets I guess.
So thanks again... I will order the book tomorrow and give it a go. Tomorrow morning I will wake up and start thinking about everything i am doing.
Is this a meditation CD or is it like his TLC show?

    Thank You,
    Steve
