  • Hey There
I guess I need to get a better attitude. I sometimes get tired of this constant watch on what I eat.. The problem is the craving never goes away. Maybe after this week passes I will have better luck..I walked yesterday but won't get to today. Seems like it is every other day, lately.
    Have a good day...Joanne
  • I'm on my 4th day of no sugar...just fruit unsweetend, boy this is hard, terrible withdrawal...not sure how long I can keep this up, just wanted to see if I could give it a go and jump start my losing again..can you believe it... 4 days no cookies!

Cleaned under beds and fridge today and now I am sore from standing on my head using the sweeper! The gal that helps me was here today, but she never does those jobs good enough, I can still see dirt when she is done and I hate telling her to redo it so I do it myself! She did run the sweeper through the rest of the house and we got my sons room ready for him over spring break. I have to check over eveything she does, if I am not right there with her. Too picky, I know.........

    'Creamy' fruit salad 2pts
1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
    1 can (8 1/4 ounces) water-packed peaches, drained
1 can (8 ounces) water-packed pineapple chunks, drained
4 ounces fat-free cream cheese, softened
    1/2 cup plain yogurt
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    4 tablespoons shredded coconut, toasted

In a decorative serving bowl, combine all of the fruit. In a small mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, yogurt, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add it to the fruit and mix well. Serve chilled, topped with toasted coconut.

  • Hey Candice, try Splenda. If you get depressed it is from sugar withdrawal-been through it. WEnt to lunch with a girl from back home-work actually-it was great. It's cold today and my husband changed the thermostat so we can't put the heat back on-just have the electric one. Since it is going to be cool all week, I will beg hime to put the old one back. I don't do suffering well. Bible study this am and Mike's for dinner. Jill keeps getting pains-don't know how much longer it will be. Can't wait. The dog has a rash -big one-and scratching. WE think it is from the salt water. Looks like it is healing from the med we use. That recipe sounds yummy Candice. It sure will be cool to walk Joanne. I need motivation to do more. Mima
  • Hi. Sorry I have not been around much, but I am having bouts of fatigue and feel like I can hardly drag MYSELF around.

Joanne - Don't obsess about those last couple of pounds. Relax and they will probably go away. I know you like to walk, but I guess sometimes life just gets in the way.

Mima - I hope you were able to talk him into putting on the other thermostat. One thing we don't all need is to be cold. Makes for very tense muscles. Hope that baby is getting ready to make it's way into the world soon.

Candice - Gee sugar withdrawl is not nice. It makes one very tired. That recipe is a variation of Ambrosia Salad. You can replace the yougurt and the cream cheese with 1 cup non-fat sourcream. That is really good as well.

I hope you beat the sugar monster. It is so easy to let it slide INTO the diet, but so hard to make it RETREAT

Meme - Hope you are feeling a lot better today.

Well, we are having to move back to Red Deer at the end of the month, so a packing I will go, again!!! I did find a nice condo suite to move into. Some people do Spring cleaning - I just MOVE!!!!!!
  • HI! Everyone hopeing that everybody is having a great day it is really cold today just hate the thought of having to go out I have really been watching my sugar intake and it is hard I fall off the wagon every other day just keep hopeing the next day will be a better one!!!!!!!!!!! so have a great day Rita
  • Hey There
Mima- Tell Brad to put the heat back on-- It will be colder this next couple days...Hope that baby gets here soon. I know how you feel. I hate waiting too..For anything!
Happy -It doesn't seem to be doing any good to worry about those pounds. I eat good and the weight just stays the same.. Hope you feel better soon.. Let me ask you...Why do you move so much??My son does that lately but he buys ,fixes up and sells for some profit..
Candice- Maybe ,I need to do the same thing . I don't eat that much sweets. But, I bet if I really looked at my diet I would find a few things to drop..I have to jar this last few pounds some how..
Meme ,Ally Rita.. Hello and I hope you are having a good week.
Well Girls. I do believe that I am the oldest of our group. I will be 71 tomorrow and right now I feel ever year...
    Bye...Joanne
  • Joanne, I was ready to stay right here, but somehow the job my hubby was getting didn't pan out, so he has been driving 200 miles 3 x a week and staying with my cousin and her hubby 2xaweek. It just makes sense to move back. I will see my kids lots, just different. We are moving back to the city I moved from. We lived there for 27 years, so it isn't a very hard move at all. Just the hustle and bustle of moving. Besides, I don't really mind moving. It sure helps clean out all the junk we all tend to save.

Keep at those few pounds. They will eventually leave.
  • Hope you feel better Happy..fatigue is no fun! I have so much junk...it would take forever to move!

Mima..DH keeps our house so cold I have to sit with the heating pad and blanket on all the time!

Right now I am not looking forward to all the outside work coming up soon! Can barely get the inside stuff done! I would rather be baking......day 5 no sugar!
  • Withdrawal symptoms should be about over! Have you lost any weight?

I hate to move. We've moved 18 times. I said when we built this house no more moving!!! We completely redecorated last year so no spring cleaning this year either. Besides, I'm not able! We put down all new carpet and tile and bought new furniture and appliances ... the whole works last spring and I've pretty much kept things up. The windows need washing and my walk-in closet could use some rearranging but other than that ... I'm good!

Talking about losing the last few pounds, I'd like to lose about 10 or 15 more but it's nearly impossible to do when you can't exercise. I'm still so weak and tired I can't do hardly anything. Just barely getting by with a little bit of housework, cooking and piano students right now. But, surprisingly enough, I've kept off the weight I lost while I was sick! Joanne, I can tell you how to lose those last few pounds if you will do it for a week or so. Eat more protein... like eggs in the morning, tuna or lean meat & a small salad for lunch and meat, green beans or other VERY LOW CALORIE veggie and salad with maybe a small baked potato for dinner. Drink tons of water and several cups of green tea every day and I promise you the weight will come off. But you have to do it just like that and do it every day but one or two. On those one or two days you HAVE to eat just a little more ... maybe add some toast for breakfast, a mid morning snack and a roll for dinner, etc. I don't exercise and that is how I keep from gaining weight. I can actually LOSE 5 pounds in one week by doing this when I can be active. But... once again, it's important you do it exactly like this ... don't worry about points, etc. Just eat the same things every eay ... 2 eggs for breakfast ... any style, any kind of meat you want, any low calorie veggies and any dressing you want on your salad. The green tea is really important, too. If you want to lose your last few pounds, give it a try. For a fast, short term results, the protein and the tea really do the trick. But, it's ok to eat like that most of the time, too. I do!

Have you all tried Snack Well's Sugar Free Lemon Creme Cookies? I'm hooked! 3 cookies are only 130 calories and 6 fat grams. They make the perfect snack with a cup of my green tea every few days! I found 3 suits and a beautiful dress with a tight fitting jacket tucked away in my guest closet that I'd like to get into by the end of the month. They just 'almost' fit! Need to lost about 5 or 6 more pounds. (Around the waist!!!)
  • Make your own cookies with Splenda and you can cut down the fat but those cookies are so much easier-I love everything lemon-Anne, I moved twice in 2 years after 28 in the same place and I thought that was bad but you must have definitely downsized by now. I don't blame you for moving. Heat was fine last night because we had on our little heater-tonight is last night of cold. He is going to put it back on when we go home. Went to dinner at Mike's and ate too much but it was yummy. Mini broccoli-boy is that good. Brad is so restless , he is driving me crazy. He wants to be back home. But he can't!!!!!I have started my cross stitch present for the June wedding-yikes, why do I do that!!!So many stitches-at least it is stamped. We may go see the Passion today. DIL is having those Braxton Hicks contractions and we will have another doctor report today-it's one day at a time. Tomorrow I am in a miniature golf tournament. Ha!!!!I did get 2 holes in one last time I played. But then I got some high scores too. LOL fror your weight Joanne-Anne is right, relax. WEll, I was up at 5:30 so it's almost time for breakfast. Hi Rita too. Meme-continue to get strength-you too Anne. Mima
  • Go Candice!!!!!
  • Thanks Mima....I have never tried using splenda in cookies....Day 6 and all is well ...but DS will be here over break and he loves sweets!

Meme...that kind of eating will make anyone lose weight! But it's no fun!
  • Hey you guys doing Atkins-girl in neighborhood had problems yesterday-diziness- and they had to call ambulance-will update you. Jill went to the docs and she is not even dilated so we will wait=found my mail=it was in someone else's box for 10 days-postal office back home put the wromg number on it-mail person doen here didn't even check-but all's well that ends well but may have some more mail missing until the corrected address catches up=at least I have the checks I was waiting for. Mini golf today, hi to all. Mima
  • Hey There
Meme- Thanks- That is about the way I eat most of the time.. I might have to cut some more carbs.. And be more careful.
Happy- moving back will make things much easier and you are close to children. That is the benifit.. If I had to move it would be a nightmare. There is over 40 years of STUFF in this house.
Candice.. My sister-in-law uses splenda for everything. I use it also. I just haven't tried it with baking.
Mima- I guess you are lucky you found your mail. I think I would have a few words with the postal service .
I wonder if we will hear from Ally this week. I hope she hasn't given up on us..
    Hello everybody...Joanne
  • Candice and Joanne - I bake with Splenda all the time. Everything seems to turn out just fine. There are still calories in Splenda, but they say that Splenda does NOT absorb. Hopefully, they are right.

Mima - glad your mail caught up to you. I know my hubby would be like Brad. He isn't a man that can just sit around. Needs to be working. Thank goodness he still has a few years left to work. Even when he retires, he will be looking for part-time work, just to keep him a little busy.

Meme - Sounds like you are feeling a little better. I sure hope you are. When I went on the South Beach Diet, my heart started doing weird things. I already have a rhythm problem with it, and this diet just had it palpitating like crazy. Atkins never did that, so it must be the differences in the diet. The condition is called ACIDOSIS is what the Dr. said.

Rita - Hope your exercising is going well.
